A few sporadic strikes isn't exactly going to satisfy the storm starvation

Just posting to say I enjoyed both the 33c weds & the 3am 10000 strike storm Friday night in the midlands.

Sorry, but both were awesome events.

Be careful what you wish for.

I'm in Belmulet, Cavan now and have just come as close as I ever want to a lightning strike in my life. Equally epic and petrifying at the same time.

We've had a storm over us for about 30 mins now with about 3-4 strikes around us every minute and heaviest hail I've ever witnessed. Not that large but very heavy.

Not bad given the conditions here. Turned out pretty much as expected.

Happened me once on a golf course ... struck the tree beside the tee, brown pants alert. Dropped my club and ran...

Some great panoramic webcams in Germany available here, use the map to select cams. The Hannover cam should be interesting soon!

That front is now approaching Hannover with a few strikes visible in the distance. Would be very impressive if it was a few hours later :(

Two people reportedly killed by separate lightning strikes in UK.

Somewhere from the midlands northward could see a pretty nice thunderstorm tomorrow if this verifies.

Shear looks like being better than today too, so it could grow and have a decent lifespan if it does form. This model ends up with a large storm over the northwest but it should be taken with a large grain of salt.
