Yeah maybe but he has to wait.

He took the fight he got beaten simple as.

Shouldn't have taken it if he's so concerned about the short notice.

I'd like to see them go at it again in future - Chad full camp, Conor fully healthy. It was an exciting fight but the intensity was very low for a champ fight.

Its not near as bad. Diego cowered into a corner and waited to get finished, Chad was tired but he took a massive left hand (along with others) to get to the floor.

Conor has never got the credit for the spinning kick to the body that took everything out of Diego in that fight,it was game over from there.

100%, he was winded and wanted out the minute that landed,, same way the left that he cracked Dustin with through the guard more or less ended there fight.

Is the 3 million bet true?

    Have they paid up?

I doubt we'll ever find out the real answer to either of those questions. Can you imagine the uproar if it came out that it was paid.

Or maybe Conor offered Chad 1.5mil to take a dive in the second :D

Ya it's probably highly illegal in sports especially in America even if your betting on yourself, see Pete Rose. So we'll never hear about it.

Conor hinted in one interview that it was agreed verbally and he needed them to confirm by shaking on it.

Then in another interview with BT sports after the fight, he hinted that it was agreed and that Dana and Lorenzo will be men of their words and follow through with it.

I highly doubt that bet happened.

Any official word on PPV numbers? When should we hear about it?

JK was on same flight as me and got chatting to him and he said Lorenzo wouldn't take the bet. Also reiterated what he said in theinterview about Conor's knee and how people have banged on how Mendes' 2 week camp when Conor's training was less than straightforward. He did state that his knee is now "100%".

A really nice guy, approachable and happy to entertain photos etc. He was also delighted and proud to hear of our great support in LV and especially in the MGM after and how the support was well recieved with no reports of any trouble or fighting.

I don't understand why this Isn't just renamed the Conor McGregor Thread part 2

Maybe this will tip the scales and add a bit of balance back into it...

    THE GRACIE BREAKDOWN

Hi. not sure if this has been posted already but I thought this was very interesting...
Particularly for people who don't know much about the BJJ / Wrestling elements of UFC.
I thought it accurately summed up the fight and it's key moment without any bias etc. and the fight was closer than people seem to be talking about.

It's the analysis from the Gracie Academy in the US on the BJJ aspects of the Mendes Vs McGregor fight and the key moment where Mendes was close to a possible winning choke but McGregor's defensive roll prevented a possible loss by submission and ultimately leading to the match going back to the feet for the strong finish by the cheeky warrior from Dublin.

AFAIK.. The simplified, direct and efficient Gracie Brazilian style of Jiu-Jitsu is a key part of McGregor's game so it's good to hear from the source on what they think.

& You just have to love Rener's zany enthusiasm.

    : D

What do you mean "Gracie style"?
It's a bit much to attribute all BJJ to the Gracies at this stage. Conor source of BJJ wasn't the Gracies.

Only got to watch the fight yesterday. Good performance from Conor, and for the time it lasted, a very good performance from the far "smaller" Mendes. What is going on with these weights? Conor towered over him. Looked bigger in every sense.

The very same as boxing Walsh, he just cut before weigh in.

As Conor said Mendes is a bantamweight. Maybe 135 lbs is a bit too low for him, but 145 seems too high for him given his physical make up.

The next 3 fights I would love to see Conor do – Aldo, Edgar, Mendes.

Why hasn’t Edgar fought Mendes yet?

Mendes is quite a blocky, powerful guy though. He has huge traps, lats, and neck muscles, which you would expect for a guy who has wrestled all of his life and to a high level - one of the key things for amateur wrestling is the ability to bridge which requires a very strong neck.

I would be interested to see what he weight he walks around at and how drastic his cut to 145 is.

All true. He is very blocky and muscular. This would see him find it hard to get to 135 lbs. The fight was won based off reach. Simple as that. p4p I thought Chad was every bit as good if not better than Conor.

There was way more to it than just reach. Yes, the reach helped but dynamic, hard striking was more the key to success. Conor has been in there with guys who have similar reach to him and has gotten KOs against them. Let's not forget the impact Conor's effective defensive grappling had on the fight - if not for that, Conor's striking and reach advantage would not have affected the outcome of the fight.

Why? Conor dominated the stand up. And while Mendes could takedown Conor with relative ease, he was limited to elbow strikes on the ground and only cleanly connected with a few. Meanwhile, Conor defended well from the ground and got a few significant elbows in himself. Finally, any submission attempt by Mendes was successfully defended by McGregor.

Why was Mendes the better fighter?

I thought from the time in the octagon he did very well (with striking) considering he was giving away such height and reach.

He did ok with striking, but most of his time standing up was spent pinned back to the cage because of McGregors pressure. You can even hear the commentators saying that Mendes can't continue like this.
