Anyone notice at the end of the fight dana forcing the "championship Jersey" on McGregor to throw on. I bet McGregor just felt like saying "**** that **** Dana" lol he didn't wear it anyhow. Delighted for Conor to win.

Presser is about to go live, wonder will Conor be three sheets to the wind again? :pac:

McGregor was actively defending Mendez on the ground, every time. Communicating with the ref throughout. The elbows were just getting through. When Mendez was on the ground he just curled up into a ball and was getting wailed on. It's amazing people can't see the difference and think that was in anyway a fix.

i don't think it was a fix. just think the ref made the wrong decision. odd rule, look at lawlor and mcdonald they're in bits, now look at mendes.

I've only missed two PPV events since 100. It was, for me, the best main card ever.

But you haven't seen all 189 (or am I reading your post wrong in my sleepiness?) to concretely make that statement is my point. The best one you've ever seen (yet) yes, but not the best one ever. I just think that statement should be reserved for use by fans who've seen every single UFC event because that's when the statement has real power.

Its Joe Rogan syndrome. Every card is the most stacked card ever. Every event is the best event ever. Every fighter is the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Every fight is the best fight ever seen. Every division is the most stacked division in the UFC.

Dana White probably can't believe how tonight went. He couldn't have scripted it better, really.

    +1

Locker room bonuses are going to be astronomical. And deservedly so. Tonight will be forever known as a major milestone in the growth of the popularity of the sport. And not just in Ireland either.

Also I would like to this opportunity to point out that in my opinion, accusing fighters of fixing fights or saying that there is something 'fishy' about a stoppage (which I've read a few times in the last few pages of this thread) is one of the worst forms of fighter bashing.

Sometimes you'd wonder what's more difficult, achieving something like a UFC Title belt, or allowing yourself to be happy for a successful Irish person.

    Its a toughie.

Yeah, ok dude. Find me someone who's seen every PPV at the time of airing then. Maybe I worded it badly, but any PPV worth watching that I haven't seen live, I've seen on YouTube and other sites.

Edit: Just realised that sounded really bîtchy lol. I do stand by my statement though.

Its remarkable how he got up out of that hold and was so fresh and clean in his strikes to put Mendes out.

    "Best UFC card ever"

Have people making these claims seen every single one of them lol? It's not impossible to have seen everyone, but I just hope people saying this at least have.

Is anyone else seeing the 'Game of War' ads with McGregor on them as well on this thread lmao? Perfect advertising placement!

In my 6 years of following MMA quite closely this definitley ranks high on my list of the best main cards of all time. Even if McGregor wasn't Irish; coming back to knock a man out so comprehensively after being put under immense pressure for near a full round was unbelievable.

When you include the absolute wars beforehand, it becomes an amazing night of fights.

But the Lawler fight is a great example. As soon as Rory went down and covered up the ref stopped it, in LESS time than the mcgregor fight.

You have to fight back, you can't just curl up and hope it goes away.

Lawler and MacDonald went nearly five rounds, the ref almost stopped it when Lawler took the kick to the head but to be fair he stayed on his feet and continued moving forward and was "actively defending" the shots coming in on him. Mendez was on his knees covering his head and McGregor was letting fly. If anything McGregor paused to see if the ref was going to stop it after the left before he started wailing on him.

People need to watch the damage he done before the 2 just punches

He landed 4 head shots and a lethal kick to the body

    Mendes was done.

He actually looked tired, but I reckon he felt well if I'm tired, so is he... Mendes looked like he thought the round was over and defo didn't expect some powerful head shots.

One thing I don't think any of us realise, or hopefully will ever realise, is how powerful mcgregors shots are. Some of them look like testing jabs, but everyone has just crumbled under him from them.

I agree that McGregor wasn't stopped early, but there's no comparison to the Rory stoppage. Jesus, as soon as Robbie landed that I was worried for Rory. He knew himself he couldn't take another second in there.

Here's another gem. This is a photo Conor took with Chuck Liddell (clearly against Chuck's will :D) around 10 years ago, and he told him he was going to be a champ one day.

I'd love to see Chuck's face tonight.
