Yes I know the engine bay needs a good cleaning but I'm doing a service so cleaning will come later. The reason I posted the picture is I'm confused should I service it or just make love to it!!!!!!!!!!

Would much rather see an engine bay like that when buying a car rather than a one that's been shined up. Looks nice and original.

Hated everything about the Passat?

every man and his dog has a tdi passat, a 530d is like a Rolls Royce compared to one.

I wouldn't think thats anything to look at??

I'd actually rip away some of that plastic and try see is there a decent looking engine buried in there!

    its not too shabby.

before and after a K&N Typhoon, needed that as it was too quiet without it.

going a bit off topic here. :p

I thought foxy had a petrol.

A diesel 5 series was heading into an estate last sunday here, the owner floored it (as they do) and it let off this glorious plume of smoke that probably contributed to a good few % of greenhouse gases, he/she was in a fierce rush for a cup of tea id say. Why would they do that I was thinking to myself, its not like (s)/he was on a open road or anything. It was a pretty recent car too, 5 years old or less I would gather.

Mine could look like that if I bothered I'm sure. Not the best looking yoke but not the worst either.

Bitta AutoGlym Engine Degreaser and a paint brush followed by a hose down and dry did mine!

I'd always hoped that to. But the 530 ain't the worst has a nice bit of power and a lot smoother drive and sounding than most diesels but hasn't a patch on the exhaust note of the 330i which I made sure to record before I got rid so I can torture myself from time to time and watch/listen back on.

It was available in a four door but very rare over here a bit more common in the UK. I've only seen one that wasn't a coupe for sale in Ireland and that was an estate shortly after I bought my own 330i.

there was a sexy bright blue msport (uk import iirc) 335i saloon parked beside me in my old underground parking spot in ashbourne for a good year or more but i never got a pic :o

edit just scrolled back a few pages and seen your nice new black 530d-best of luck with her

How do people have the patience to really clean an engine bay. I start with a wipe to the engine cover, then the battery cover, see all the small crevices and say ah t'fcuk with this, and close the bonnet!

Because once you get it to a clean stage it is quite easy to keep it clean.

Concentrate on one area each time. Next time concentrate on another area and a quick clean to area one. Eventually it will be spotless and easy to maintain.
