The Radio Times Listing for Rock Around The Clock

"Rock Around the Clock was the picture that introduced movie audiences to the sound of rock 'n' roll-and caused riots in cinemas throughout Britain."

    http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/search/0/20?order=asc&q=%22rock+around+the+clock%22#search

Riots! Their minds must have been properly blown when they heard Little Richard.

To be fair back then fresh fruit riots were not unknown.

I never knew Little Richard tried to get the ride off an Everly brother. Things were so innocent back in the day:rolleyes:.
As for Chuck Berry and what he gets up to in ladies bathrooms - that'll be next week I suppose.
And clown prince Jerry Lee has yet to enter with his own unique brand of insanity.

I assume this thread can wander into Netflix territory.... A word of warning on the Hendrix biopic on Netflix, it's just awful. Avoid if you don't want to waste 2 hours of your life.

That said, Paul Greengrass (Bourne movie director) is said to be working on a bigger budget Hendrix biopic for 2016.

Didn't know that was on Netflix. How come it sucks so much?

Anything else in there that deserves a mention on this thread? Looked a while ago and saw nothing.

Good idea, this is on Netflix (UK & Ireland) it's about Backing Singers. I haven't seen it but it has decent reviews, I might give it a go

Now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure Cadillac Records (the film about Chess Records with Adrian Brody and Beyonce) is on Netflix.

    I quite enjoyed it.

In terms of production, there wasn't really a beginning or an end, just seemed to leap into everything without building up the characters etc.

It jumped from scene to scene and didn't really mesh as a movie. Pretty bad acting, but Andre 3000 from outkast did a pretty good job as jimi. Oh, and if you actually like his music then you will be disappointed that there are zero Hendrix songs on it. They couldn't get the licence to use his songs.

Strange seeing Philip King for the first time, after hearing his voice for so long.

Not how I pictured him :D

Speaking of UK soul singers, whatever happened to Shara Nelson?

The voice of Massive Attack's 'Unfinished Sympathy' - was just thinking about it this morning.

I've never spent any time thinking of her, who is she?

Blooming heck, this doesn't make good reading at all. Hope she gets/got help. Didn't know she wrote the lyrics to Unfinished Sympathy.

I assume Amy is referring to Thelonious Monk, and not Monk the TV detective with OCD :D

    Kidding! :D

That Massive Attack Blue Lines album is a stonker.

It wouldn't be my usual type of music, but excellence always transcends subjectivity, or something.

Amy's enthusiasm for music is brilliant. Talking about what she likes because she wants to, not to plug her own records.
