I realise there are a lot of places out there, but many are too expensive and too far away (hotels that is).
I like the idea of being within walking distance to somewhere to stay once the gigs over, don't fancy the mayhem of trying to get a taxi to take me 15miles away.

There are places in the link for 65e?? Thats not expensive for anywhere in Ireland and a 5 min taxi trip from the Avia

Good luck with that, as they say.

Landsdowne is fairly well connected to public transport. It won't be a huge problem to walk into town and connect to anywhere, or get a bus or DART out of town after the gig.

    Hi there,

I've two seated tickets (upper region) for the 1st of July gig in the Aviva. I would prefer standing, so wondering if anyone is interested in swapping a pair of standing tickets?

    Thanks.

    Hi all,

Long time listener, first time caller as they say.

I'm going to this gig, driving up from Limerick on Wednesday afternoon. Can't wait! Finish work at 2pm, hop in the car and off to the Aviva. 2 questions, if anybody could help.

    1) What would be my best options for parking/driving near the Aviva, coming from the Limerick side? Or what would be good options for me, coming from Limerick, hitting Dublin around 5-ish?
    2) Any ideas of what time the gig will start? Would I have time to grab some food, etc, before Vintage Trouble hit the stage (obviously, I'm going to see AC/DC, but that's a cool support act too)?

    Cheers y'all!

hhhmmmm ... coming from Limerick , you'll be coming into Dublin via the N7 I reckon. That means you'll come in via the Naas Rd. If I were you Id park the car at the Red Cow Park and Ride and get the Luas down to the O2 / Point (last stop on the line) ... then walk across the East Link Bridge to the Aviva.

    http://www.luas.ie/red-cow-car-park.html

If you want to stay in the car , I would stay on the N7 , flow straight through M50 junction and then come down the Long Mile Rd , onto the Canal and follow that right down to Baggot St. / Haddington Rd area. There's street parking around the canal area / haddington Rd. It Yellow Zone Park (highest Demand) - €2.90 per hour valid until 7pm (after 7pm it's free)

    Canal / Haddington Rd

It's 5pm so it's going to be heavy traffic to matter what route you take.

Thank you very much, RayCon - appreciate the info and the maps too! Also the info about the car parking, I'll run that by my mates (who I'm meeting at the gig) and I may go with that option. Thanks again, those of us about to rock salute you!

Probably terrible just like it is every other night.

I'm sure there will be a few 'after parties' thrown on by the usual spots, or just hit some rock bar after. Much better.

I know you didn't ask but I feel obligated to tell you your hotel is 50 metres from Di Fontaines pizza place. It's deadly for a late night slice and the pizza is top notch!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,514 ✭✭✭Comerman

Pizza or a kebab will be obligatory by the end of the night so thanks for the heads up and cheers Scudzilla for the tip

If you like trying new beers nip into the porterhouse. I would usually go there for 1 or 2 and head elsewhere. Its just across from the turks head. Zaytoon kebab shop is across from it which is pretty good, though no doubt that might spark some debate! You can sit and eat in it with proper cutlery etc, but still reasonable prices.

Cheers for that rubadub, unusual to have a health and nutritionist mod recommending kebabs

If anyone knows somebody selling 2 x standing tickets, will they PM me and let me know? I know it's a long shot but am sickened at the thought of not being there, especially as it coincides with my birthday and it's where half my friends will be!

Will be there a pit with wristbands at this does anyone know? If so is it first come first served?

    Getting a little excited now.

That 11 year old Edd sheeran fan son of mine does not know that he is going yet.

Should blow the ginger clean outta him.

If you are in the stands (seated) the bars and toilets are the same as for any football/rugby match.

If you are on the pitch (standing) the toilets are portaloos and there are usually 2-3 bars around the standing area.

I've only been to one gig there, I was standing and I never saw any portaloos. Pretty sure there was an actual toilet. Could be wrong though.

They are in the tunnel that runs under the south and west stands. 100's of them!

I couldn't quite get over being at a gig, and still being able to sit on a decent loo, use toilet paper, wash my hands at a sink and have them blow dried - just seemed out of place.

Looking forward to this gig. Should be great.

Never been to a gig in the Aviva. What entrance do they use for pitch standing?

Will there be a pit area?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 854 ✭✭✭dubscottie

There is a pit area. First come first served.

Vintage Trouble are the support act on at 19:15.

    AC/DC on at 20:30.

Vintage Trouble were at Glastonbury today. They were amazing, the front man is some performer. If you get a chance to see it it's well worth a look.

The pitch entrances are gates D and P.

Pitch entrance 1 is gate D which is off Lansdowne Rd on the Ballsbridge or west side of the Dart line.

Pitch entrance 2 is gate P at the bottom of Lansdowne Rd by Herbert Bridge, opp the stadium tours office. (Ringsend or east side of Dart line)

You are usually able to use either but there has been problems in the past so go to the gate that is on your ticket.

What is on your ticket out of curiosity? Any mention of 1 or 2?

It says " Green Route", no mention of 1 or 2.

I take it that "Green Route" means entrance 2 Gate P as you mentioned above. As per this map
