Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does Titanium have an option to lock installs or something? If not, they could be reflashed by the recovery, trying installing TWRP or CWM then uninstalling them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,707 ✭✭✭wiz569

Should be able to freeze them with titanium, might be a pro version option only though

    John

It was with customs for 2 to 3 days max, not too long to be fair.

    BB

What made you go for that phone instead of a phone with say 3gb of Ram? I'm looking to get a phone soon but don't know too much about them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

2gb is enough to manage Android. 3gb is nice but realistically never going to be used, on AOSP I'd have 40-50 background tabs and programs open with almost half a gig left, that's on 2gb

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,612 ✭✭✭Del007

I presumed that if a phone had extra ram then it would be automatically faster. You'd recommend it so over the other Chinese phones?

No, that isn't how RAM works. If the phone was never rebooted and cache never cleared and you had tonnes of programs running in the background, then yes.

Unless you're going to fill the RAM, adding more is a gimmick. You'll do well to fill 2gb in my experience

Only just got it so not fully tested everything out yet but it seems like a very good phone. Only thing that's kind of bothering me is the size! I didn't realise how big a 5.5 inch screen was for carrying around, I suppose it will just take a bit of getting used to. The phone itself is flying!

Where did you order it from that it came with all this stuff?
One of the no customs sellers from aliexpress that was linked on here. Think a few others here have bought from him.

Got them removed by flashing a new rom.

Thanks, it could be worth naming them, even without a link, so others don't get caught though. I was looking at a Nubia from one of those guys. Not everyone would scan a phone for malware. Actuall, without googling I don't even know what program you'd scan it with :o

  • Registered Users Posts: 52 ✭✭joei

I scanned with malwarebytes, now i'm not sure what those apps were doing but i do know they shouldn't have been there!
Yes i got the 3gb version. All in it was about €190. It was cheaper to get it delivered through parcelmotel, uk delivery $8 vs ireland $25.
I bought from here. Delivery including parcel motel took 9 days, which is quite good. All in all i'm happy with the purchase.

So, for anyone who remembers Chinese Android Phones 1, I finally got satisfaction from dealsmachine. They backed down and sent me a new phone with no extra charge and it arrived in 9 days with no customs fee, so fair play to them (eventually!)

I haven't had much chance to play with the P3000S yet but it seems nice and fast, bright and light.
Here's a turnip for the books. A second (or first) phone showed up in the letter box this morning.

Depends how much you're willing to spend. For €150 or less, probably not, for €150 or more then yes, definitely

Thanks! I'd be willing to spend between 200 and 250. What would you recommend for that price range?

64gb Xiaomi Mi3 is a fairly high end phone, specs lie between Galaxy S4 and S5, I have one and I love it, couldn't rate it highly enough.

It's about €230-240 from most sites

Others will give different recommendations but that's mine

As long as you don't need 4g, the Mi3 is a great phone. I miss mine:(.

I haven't even tried but guessing from day to night battery level 2.5-3 days.

I haven't even tried but guessing from day to night battery level 2.5-3 days.

I've got one and get two days out of it easily enough.

One thing I've yet to sort out is the GPS though. It's fine at pinpointing your location but next to useless if your're in a car.

Despite that it's a good phone. Dual sim feature is handy.

Slightly off topic, But does anyone have a link to a decent aliexpress seller for men and womens shoes? running shoes if possible.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3 Kaiba

I was reading alot of the posts here going back to the previous one as well. I have noticed quite a few of the phones I posted below aren't really mentioned.
I am looking to buy a new Chinese Smartphone.
The one I have now is a THL T100S and was awesome, liked it alot (until my brother broke the screen to it)
I actually ordered a new screen and replaced it but I can't get signal anymore and the speaker is broken so it's pretty useless now.

    I want a phone the is 5"

I was looking at the following phones -
    Xiaomi MI4
    onePlus One
    Huawai Honor 6
    Vivo xShot
    Zte star 2
    Lenovo Vibe x2
    Elephone s2
    Elephone p3000s
    THL 2015
    THL 5000

Was gona get the OnePlus one but it is 5.5"s which is too big.

I want a decent battery (roughly 3000 mah) or higher
    dual sim
    2 GB RAM or higher
    1.5Ghz CPU or higher
    5" display
1080HD screen. Might settle for 720 if everything else is perfect.
a fingerprint scanner would be cool but can live without.

Any recommendations or help here would be great as I just can't decide.
