They're propping it up by 3 cent does that mean it's only worth 28 c/l at the moment? It isn't too far away from the 26cent they were predicting at the end of last year.

Doesnt look good at the moment, all auctions seem to be one way, the weak euro is saving us (long may the crisis in greece continue:-)), no one seems to know but theyre culling harder in the US so hoping some of the larger nations follow!

Have a few bigger older ladies here who are mud fat and not particularly milky they'll be made into burgers come September if they show up not in-calf and milk price is dangling around the 26 cent a litre our lower mark, one of the perks of good bf cows is their cull value

Checked it again there, still no joy.
29.55 cpl was the pre co-op topup price so will be interesting to see what the final figure is.
In fairness to 'em , that connect site is a lot more user friendly.

I wonder how good it would be though if no one jumped ship at the beginning of April?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Is this the most important paragraph from that article for those planning to expand.

The continued weakness in the GDT auction, with a further 3.5% fall last week, combined with an anticipated pay-out of $4.50 is very worrying for Kiwi farmers. That payout level is the lowest in recent history, with $4.75 having been achieved in 2008/09. There had been pay-outs of below $4 in the 2002-2006 period, but farmers have expanded and become much more highly indebted since then.

Short term only one way Kev,hopefully we'll be on the up by August 16!!

I think if we can hold our base price of 31c/l we won't be doing so bad at all. We must be realistic, world markets are taking a real hammering, even in the uk they're talking around 16/17p/l at the mo. With good solids a base of 31 gives us scope for an ok price. Time to batten down the hatches

Realistically I think it'll be very difficult to keep the base from dipping into the 20's for the remainder of '15.
Hopefully it'll be bouncing back by time we start supplying peak milk again in '16. At least then we would avoid any major dip when we're at peak production. Fingers crossed

Fcuk it kev I hope you're right. I'd be thinking 29,28 for June and July and 28 or 27 from August till the end of the year. Hope I'm wrong

I suspect your right. Dairygold offer for green barley next harvest is under €130 and we all know what cheap feed does for milk price.

Heard 125 last night from a lad. Alot of barley planted around here, local seed merchant had to get in alot more than other years on top of their own.

First thought I had was how cheap is "grass based" dairying at that meal price.
