Yeah I'm with them, when I log in, I have no options to do any of that.

Serious? I was yapping away on the phone to one of their lawwwds today and that's what they were saying to me?

It's not with all companies, just aviva let you transfer insurance, and add drivers, just seen it on their website before, never had the opportunity to try it out myself. You enter your policy no. and password and away you go I think.

That's the way my insurance is online. 25plus.ie

Was it aviva that took over Quinn? I remember you could do all that with them too.

On the "Manage Your Car Policy" Section it says you can do all that, when you log in I have no options at all.

It may be different for you due to age restrictions or something.

Can't see why they'd age restrict it to be honest.

Got this for the 900 today, and a decent quote for the brother on the resurrected astra, which has a fair few issues it seems :o

I'd get onto them and ask the story, you'd never know the day or the hour that the Yaris might need to be called into action! :P

Also... The "Real Capital"? Lyk Srsly? Sweet Mother Divine.......

I'm with Aviva and can change car details etc. online. The next screen gives quotes. I often use it to see how much it would cost me to insure something new. Very strange if ye don't have that.

Must be restricted so as I don't have that option under my car, not that I exactly need it right now anyway :p

Gotta love some of the ads that appear on those buy and sell Facebook pages. Cheap but there's a catch

Tis a good ad in fairness. Spent 10 mins. trying to find it on buyandsell!

That's quite handy. The company I'm with doesn't have an option to log in, I have to call every time, but anyway, I'm not planning to change my wagon anytime soon. :)

Yea I rarely use it. It's always only for temp cover with a new car. Like when I had to bring the BMW for NCT but still wasn't using it daily.

The biggest use I get from it is putting in RS4 and M3 reg numbers, then cry when I see how far from that I am :P

Do they charge you for temp cover?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭GvidoR

It would be nice to temporarily switch the insurance for free to an M3 every weekend. :P

I know that if you are always at it, they will charge you usually, but I've changed insurance numerous times and was never charged yet!

Chris is correct here. Aviva allow up to 3 free temporary changes. I changed from my 1.1 106 to the 2.2 bimmer with no charge 3 weekends.

So if a car is losing power steering fluid over time - whats the likely prognosis for the power steering - IF the levels are continuously checked and kept above the minimum at all times.

If theres going to be long term issues - ie the problem gets worse - what is the normal way for power steering to "go bang".

Im assuming you see that the car losing power steering fluid is due to wear in the system - rather then something like a pipe or a bolt which should be addressable.

Is using 2nd hand power steering bits okay - or are they best bought new

    Thanks guys

Rack leaking or pump leaking. They're the likely ones, if it was a hose it'd be a more catastrophic loss of fluid!

His was an S60, didn't end up being pricey to fix what was wrong anyway as far as I remember.
