Rant: crashing your car on the way to a race. Thereby missing the race, obviously.

Rave: Walking away from a car crash uninjured. :)

The rave obviously trumps the rant, which is why it ended up in this thread.

Just read about this on your blog too.

Did something similar myself some years ago, took my eyes off the road for a second, wheel went off the road, flipped the car and into a tree.

Car was an absolute write-off, but I managed to walk away with just a broken nose.

    Glad to hear you're OK.

That's almost exactly what happened to me yesterday, minus the broken nose. The car is a write-off (well, I'll get that confirmed tomorrow) but I walked away without even a scratch.

I was basically unable to sleep last night. Woke up every few minutes and was utterly drenched in sweat by the morning. Not nice, but walking away from a serious car crash still belongs into the rave thread.

    Best running encouragement ever

Give ye a laugh - borrowed my mother-in-law's car on Friday night to drive to Donadea so that the family could follow down later in our own car. She's a great woman & nearly 80 but I know that she thinks what I'm doing is mad & would be much happier if I wasn't running (a bit like my own Dad). As I went out the door her parting comment was " Now you remember tomorrow when those stitches & niggles hit, you just stop. You don't have to finish the whole thing you know" Not good for the nerves

Met a friend when I was heading out for a run earlier, turns out she's running in the Palestine marathon towards the end of March, that will be quite an experience I'd imagine.

After years of teasing me for it, my brother and his GF have taken up running and are really enjoying it! Might have to have a family trip to a Parkrun when I'm in Dublin in April :)

+1 to that, apart from good weeks training.
