I would like Irish Water as a company to remain in it's current form

Now you know as well as I do that the above posts were in relation to the post about the DSP using PPS numbers to take the charge. I never said it HAD happened. I said it is wrong and should not be done.
I can't be bothered playing silly beggars tbh

That's not what it said. As above. Without reading back, its for the collection of the PPSN's for the allowances.

I didn't see any footage of them disrupting any ceremony? I did see some of the graduates out protesting with them after the ceremony though.

    Are you for real?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭Smidge

who is it being taken directly at source from?

People had issues with giving their PPSN's to IW so the DSP will handle it. I didn't see any suggestion of it being taken at source, not that I'd have issue with it.

It wouldn't be one group getting targeted anyway. SW recipients would have it taken from their SW, PAYE workers could have it deducted from their wages and self employed could be done through tax returns. That covers most households. Who's getting singled out?

You edited your post after I posted.
The two words in bold make a very great difference to what you say here.

do we think people should not have to pay for goods and services just because they dont feel like paying for them ?

Yea, that's it. You got it in 1, literally:rolleyes:

The second part is my opinion on how it could be done and I'd agree with it. The use of could and would are interchangeable in my post. Change them all to would if it suits.

The fact that tinkersbell thanked your post proves that certain people aren't reading the thread, they just thank any post that supports "their side".

Heres the article that was being discussed again.

I did see one story of a SF councillor who graduated from An Cosan yesterday who then joined the protest outside.
She respectfully received her award from the Tanaiste inside and then peacefully made her protest outside. I wouldn't have any problem with that.

    Hard to say.
The measures to be announced next week might satisfy a lot of the protesters and more of them will be turned off by the scenes from yesterday and other protests in Coolock and elsewhere.
On the other hand, the protest has grown bigger than the water issue alone and into a more general anti austerity protest.

    On the contrary.
I played golf with lads today who were delighted with yesterday's protests.
They intend being on the big one on Dec 10th too.
These people were never on a march before.
    The sleeping giant has awakened.

Half of it is borderline trolling.

They think Joan deserved it after her mobile phone jibes and her arrogance.

If your not happy with the service, don't receive it. Head off and buy your water from the shop. Catch rainwater and drink/bath with it? Sink your own well. There are plenty of people around the country that have never been connected to the mains, but sure that grand , as long as its other people problem.

From all the footage and pictures I've seen, no nothing was interrupted. The protesters were outside the gates of the event, it's not like the all ran inside and stopped anything from taking place.

    Indeed.
It's the cronyism that has angered most of them.
They believe IW should be disbanded.
    It's a common opinion

Questioning people isn't trolling. Asking why its ok to to behave in a certain way to some people but you if your subject to the same its wrong isn't trolling.

Indeed, I was out for a few scoops for the game on Friday with some of my mates and they are of the same opinion.
One is a GP, another works in IT, another is a mechanic and the other lad is a butcher.
All of the same opinion, what they can't understand is how a government can be so incompetent and allow the cronyism and corruption to continue as before.
IW is a symptom of a broken form of governance and a government who has lost the trust of the people.
