Anywhere in the water act legislation that compels you to post in the thread, if you're so disillusioned with it:confused:

I suggested the questions for this poll a few days ago. You could have raised your concerns and given new suggestions then.

The multiple choice options IMO give a better idea of the feelings of the posters ie: They want meter charges but are unhappy with IW as a company. Anyone who selects I do not want water charges & I want water charges together, is being a twat just for the sake of being a twat......... imho

I know now. It seemed to have slipped under my radar because this thread is lengthy ... I wasnt exactly complaining about the poll... but I wasnt exactly providing any solution either :pac::o ...

Congrats for getting off your arses and making it happen. Im not complaining. Its a good thing still.

Says the poster who's only contribution is to dribble out some 'Enda's a bollox' sloganeering when asked to provide workable alternatives.

    Enda's a bollox?

If you can't attribute the correct quotes to people, you should just probably stay quiet.

As for alternatives, I'm blue in the face posting same alternative, but you and your four mates aren't interested in posters alternatives because they don't fit into your limited mental bubble.

Barely There, enough of the passive aggressive crap. Keep it up and you will be asked not to post in this thread.

Everyone else, don't make the discussion personal. Either debate the topic at hand or not at all.
Stop with the sly digs at each other.

She says that the cost to the average family will be less than €200. And they're giving €100 back if you send in your pack... Logical thinking would mean that after this year the prices will probably at least triple because they going to be so far in the red after year one.

Classic bait & switch from the govt. Entice people in with promises of good things then do the exact opposite & charge us a fortune in the process.

I would like to see IW to cease trading and water to remain controlled by government/local auth

Well considering there is a moratorium on raising prices until after 2016 set in place by the energy regulator then this is not logical thinking

Also what if it the actual cost of water is that much? We have no idea how much of our taxes per person goes towards operating the water infrastructure currently, what if it is 300 per tax payer? Or even more?

Just cus you don't like how much it costs wont make the costs go away.

Also im not trying to argue for IW prices here simply being devils advocate at this stage.

We all know how the regulator can change his mind when the big boys go whinging to him.

There we go - Cork Examiner - front page, meters will only reduce consumption by 6%, but there's 40% leakage in the supply we're told.

If a person had oil central heating and there was a leakage between the tank and the house, would he/she rectify it by reducing consumption by 6% and buy lots more oil ? I think not.

also Joans going to setup a new department within social protection to administer the payment how much is that going cost more bloody money spent that apparently we don't have.

Reducing consumption obviously wont fix the leakage problems, dunno where you got that idea. Paying for our water by how much we use will reduce the amount of water each of us personally wastes by leaving taps on etc as we will be more conscious of it.

So we scrap IW wasting 700 mil and start again with money we don't have? You argue against wasting money but then argue for throwing 700mil in the bin you can't have it both ways.

But surely that's what the Government and Irish Water are doing at the moment working off hypotheticals.. They can't even pick a leakage figure is it 40% 42% 50 % etc and the latest 6 % figure for water conservation is way below the 18% to 25% be flowed around a few weeks ago..

All their sums and future figures are done on If's and But's Or as some would call it Hypotheticals.............

A moratorium for what base price? Because we haven't actually been told one! And lets face it, 2016 is less than 14 months away.

That 700 million is gone either way and where did they get that money in the first place apparently they can find the money when they want to.

And I never said start again in any of my posts, hand back the insfrastructure to the councils bring in progressive taxation on the ability to pay model bobs your uncle marys your aunt

People are actually using less water now due to the IW campaign, still doesn't solve the problem of the millions of litres leaking into the ground.

You conveniently ignored the elephant in the room as you are so focused on charging people for the bit they use.
