I think the other guy got a better deal than you. Not even a turbo I think you said. What year is it?
Yeah he got a better deal definitely..1998 revision 4 afik..
original Irish car badged gti around 170bhp new...
I don't have the reactions anymore to keep a turbo in line! This should be a walk in the park in comparison:-)

These RCZ bumpers, they aren't bloody cheap. I thought that considering I've spent the guts of €1k at a dealership in the last month they might have done me something, but nope. Lol.

Done it on my focus mk2 some hardship compared to a golf/ octavia where it is literally 10 times easier.

It's a fecker to do alright. Compared to the earlier focus where it was kept under the windscreen cowl. Why make it complicated ford...

Picked up a new motor today :)

    1992 Mk2 Mitsubishi Pajero SWB

She's no oil painting but will do what I want it to do :pac:

Hilarious day to be fair, bought it and got about a mile out the road and met a slight incline and she lost all power, cue heavy laughter.

Amongst all the sh1te left in the back of it (lots and lots of dirt and crap) was a brand new fuel filter, so I limped to a petrol station and we pulled out the old one - absolutely blocked with gunk & brown sh1te, threw in the new one and away we went! Just got home now, going to get my chem-suit & mask out tomorrow and get her cleaned out a bit!

This gave me a chuckle as it reminded me of this one story my Late Loving Dad would tell,

Anywhoo, Safe Driving out there with your new motor :)

Thats why I screwed mine on and used white caps to cover the screws. I just don't trust sticky tape etc:P

I remember you showing them to me without the holes to screw in.

Was it a bitch of a job?

Am seriously thinking of picking up a set :)

Nope, use the old plastic ones as a template, screw through one first and then the other.
Ideally you'd use plate holders, but meh, white caps will do.

Was observing the mechanic while he serviced a 1.6TDCI MK2 focus yesterday, oil filter is in the stupidest place on it, buried underneath an intercooler pipe, stupid French :pac:

I serviced mine 3 times and you get use to the oil and air filter and do them quick enough. But the oil is a bit of a pain all the same little access. As for the fuel filter piss to change. Main issue with changing them is the car won't start afterwards :pac: because no primer bulb and no fuel lift pump so once you break the vacuum and let air into the system the fuel just stays in the tank and the car has no way of getting the fuel up. Mechanics hate changing them you can get some ford tool but it only helps so much. Ford seem to have left so many things an after thought with that car.

jaysis i never met anything like it in my life! i was even thinking to myself when i was doing it I think saab and ford got mixed up when it came to this :pac: usually anything on my car, even the oil change is awkward as fook to do

Also I might have found the source of the problem with the 900, gona investigate more tomorrow

Good luck with the new motor! Love the tale of woe it's exactly the same thing happens to me more often than I'd like to admit lol

Trying to find a right hand side fog light surround for a 2002 corolla. Having no luck anywhere, can't even find one on ebay!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,549 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

You'll have a job, they only did that shape bumper from 02-04, the saloons have different fogs, and most corollas didn't have front fogs back then.

You won't find it I'm afraid.

But IIRC is approx 22 notes from dealer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,549 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Oh yeah, I think petrol and diesel had different fog surrounds too :)

As said, main dealer all the way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,845 ✭✭✭Noccy_Mondy

Fupin hell. Stealer seems like the only option.

    Thanks men.

Oh ya while ye're here, do toyota do the touch up paint kits like ford do. Nail varnish type set up, paint and lacquer. If so what's the rough cost?

They do, but they're shoite water based ones nowadays.

    They're +/- €8

They did. But not sure if they still do (I guess they do). But if you're going up North soon, there's a place in Enniskillen you'll get what you're looking for.

The new fuel filter being left in the jeep reminds me of a Megane we bought a few years ago two new h7 bulbs in the centre console and two blown dipped lights. Owner must off tried and failed to replace the bulbs :pac:

Well wear on the jeep by the way always liked them older type pajeros.

I'm viewing this on Wednesday in Coolock. I've asked about removing the wrap and the guy says you can just peel it off and it doesn't leave any residue on the body. Can you actually do that?

If its so easy to remove so wonder why the owner doesn't remove it. The car would be a hell of a lot more sellable in its original silver colour.

They obviously like the colour and think other people will as well.

He says so but I don't believe him. Its been on for 18 months to advertise a business. I need to ask a place that does these wraps I think. If it can be taken off no problems, I will, if not, it stays as is.

In my 7/8 years of driving I never really saw any huge increase in Garda presence on a bank holiday weekend.....until yesterday. I drove from Limerick to Cork did a bit of driving around Cork and I probably came across more checkpoints and speed traps in that one trip than I did since I started driving. They were EVERYWHERE! Good to see it obviously but a right pain the hole when there is also roadworks all over that hemorrhoid of a city. Sorry but I can't stand driving in Cork

Did you start an apprenticeship tp or are you just working away in the garage? I'd love to work on cars for a living but I don't think I could face another 4+ years of training again.
