Boring enough things. New plates from EirePlates. Might have them later today as they're in Parcel Motels depot now.

Car parts of any sort are never boring :P

Don't want to clog up with a new thread; what's better, X5 or Q7?

You'd need to give a bit more info to allow people to give precise info.
Is it a diesel/petrol? What years are they?
Personally I'd go for an XC90.

Diesel, commercial (but esentially a car replacement), I suppose 2009-2012 or so.

Anyone know where I can get Philips Silver Vision bulbs in Dublin? The code is 581/PY21W.

I think my car has done well in the mpg department this week :D

With 445 on the trip it took 59.14 litres to fill (€91) which works out at over 34mpg.

That includes being stuck in Portadown fairway bypass roadworks, causing a nuisance in Dublin city centre on Sat night and multiple town runs on top of motorway driving and big open roads

Only downside is my wallet is a bit lighter now :p

Just too add, up untill now the car was ran exclusively on maxol, I filled it at esso. I'm expecting naff all difference in consumption :P

Sitting in a dunnes car park waiting on OH and a 132 Audi has pulled up and parked in front of me.

First thing I twigged was the lack of fog lights.

Why do people buy high end cars if they're gonna cheap out immediately on speccing them? I'd have no interest in paying over the odds for a car if it didn't have lots of fancy stuff to play with.

I'd have also thought fog lights would be an essential extra because they're on the outside (ie; everyone can see them, or lack of them).

I'd say there are more blank buttons inside that Audi than there are functional ones.

I've got a total of 2 blank buttons in my panda, and it's something I'm very happy about. My old Merc had many all over the place.

Ever specced up an A3? I sat in a few in a dealers before I bought the GTI. One of which had decent spec, Quattro, adjustable suspension, leather, sunroof etc. Because it a year old, I thought it'd be decent value. Nope. €32k.

The Audi A3 is the motoring equivalent of the iphone, somebody who wants one will ignore all pros/cons, specs, colour, engine etc.
Audi have a good brainwashing marketing dept.:D

I would dearly like a RR Wraith. Just to tear round fields.

Would a similarly specced, for arguments sake, Mondeo, not work out as better value-for-money? What's a decent-spec Mazda 6 going for these days? (better looking than a lot of Audi's in my opinion).

I just don't grasp why you'd buy a big, expensive house, if it means you can't afford to put a table and chairs inside it.

I never really appreciate how economical the golf is I suppose I am just used to it. But I really realised it this week. I'd normally fill it with diesel but I just stuck 40 quid in it on Sunday and that was @1.46 euro per litre. 530 km on it and I haven't used to 40 quid :) it's still a few notches higher than it was before filling. Tank average for the 530km is reading 62.0 mpg.

I know people will say oh that's not an accurate way but it's not that far off. I will do the brim it test at next fill. On that tank I spent over an 1 and a half in heavy stop start traffic in cork. I also wasn't driving the car to easy either. I had to go back to kilkenny last night and I drove it fairly hard on the back roads. So I think bearing all that in mind it's very good specially when it has an ancient Diesel engine doesn't have any stop start or recovering energy from braking systems.

I don't know what I'm going to do when I get something quick and petrol :pac:

I helped push a Micra off a garage forecourt this evening, poor chap couldn't get it to start after filling up.

Starter kept turning over but no ignition. What do yas reckon was the problem, 2000ish model. Fuel pump or spark?

Engine flooded maybe. Used to happen my missus' one. Had to pull a fuse and crank

Yeah, the seller seemed nice as well.
The price was just too good to pass up I think. I've already said that if the guy backs out then I'll come on Saturday to look and more than likely buy.
I have one more car on my list which I still need to call.
An Accord estate. Just the back of it I find ugly, it's 500e more (better spec though) and has a shorter NCT.

Just read this it would make you sick some of cars that were scraped. Probably much the same with the irish scrapage scheme I know if a few really nice cars that people scrapped just so they could get the 1500-2000 whatever it was.

Uk cars had to have an MOT to get scrappage in 09. Had to be taxed and insured too and be under 3.5 tonnes.

The big one is that you had to be the original owner of the car. Ie they were all 1 owner cars.

Government provided £1000, and manufacturer provided the other £1000

The "space hearse" accord estate? As much as I like estates and find it weird how unloved they are in Ireland, the mid noughties accord did look like some wanted a kinda futuristic lookingg hearse. Massive boot id say in fairness.

09 on is nice, rarely see one though.

A fun night and morning after a long day :cool::cool:

Yeah the newest one is a good looking estate. The one I'm looking at is a 04 and I quite like the front of them.

You see that's the thing. They are bloody weird looking at the back but there is just something about it.
The boot is huge from the pics I saw, the spec is very nice and has mostly all the toys I'd want.
The car is up at 2.5k - would an offer (providing all goes well) of 2.2k seem like a nice offer?
