Saw a Taxi v Pedestrian today.

The pedestrian stepped out and got swatted back onto the pavement, he was curled up in a ball.
One man who was walking with a buggy was standing feet away from him when it happened and was first to his side.

When I looked back a few seconds later the injured guy looked to be convulsing and the samaritan was leaning over him phoning for help.
It happened right beside a manned fire station so I saw another man run over to the gate and get the attention of a fireman in the yard.

The dash cam captured it but its just a blur really as it was pretty far away and the sun was directly ahead.

What are those 2 videos supposed to show? Other than the first cyclist mounting the footpath to stop I'm not sure what you or the cyclists did wrong

No. I used that thing on youtube that detects shaking,

As you can see. It really works well.

There was no shaking before. Now there is loads!

Are those solid white lines between the middle and left lanes?
    Do they serve any purpose?

It was a bus lane now a slip road for the train station/bridge, never burnt off the fat bus lane lines when they redone the lanes.

Randomly painted, as all our roads.

If you are thinking of getting petrol or a sandwich you stick to the left lane, not indicate and brake when you spot the petrol station.

    Lines quite irrelevant.

But if there was no undertaking involved, there would be no confusing situation we can see in the video.

Where is there undertaking? I'm at the 100m mark for my slip road and he slams on in the middle lane?

Is it a coincidence that they tried the maneuvre at exactly the point where the solid line finished and they interpreted it as "do not cross"?
I'm not making excuses for them not checking their side mirror.

Well, what I can see on the video is that you get closer and closer to him on left lane. When you are already very close (I assume you would undertake if he didn't do anything) then he decides to move left, indicated, starts to move, and in the last moment he discovers in his left mirror that you are there so he slams on the brakes. Pathetic on his side, but if you weren't trying to undertake him, it wouldn't happen.

Like I said before - there was plenty of time (and broken lines) before he spotted the garage.

If you are thinking of getting petrol you go into the left lane before, not after you spot one.

LOL you could not be more wrong if you tried harder.

Are cyclists allowed to overtake on the left, when car is signalling left turn?

Watched it again - he braked before even indicating. Screeen shot below shows there was no undertaking:

Im in lane two, I'm taking the slip road (300m mark goes by) so I check indicate and move into lane 1 (200m mark goes by) I'm keeping to the same speed same distance next he slams on in the middle lane (brakes first indicates later) I step on the brakes to let him in. (van has to slam on too.)

How do you pull over if there is a cyclist behind you then? Never?

If someone in front indicates left you shouldn't even try to undertake him.
Cyclists need to pay attention, too.

I rewatched it again few times. Sorry for my earlier comment.
    I agree with you now.

It just shows how misleading a dashcam video can be, and you really need to look at everything around to see sometimes even just basic stuff like who is accelerating and who is slowing down - very hard to tell from dashcam videos.

The taxi signalled once the bike was already alongside. (just by a wheel)
Since bike was already alongside even marginally then I think the taxi could have just braked to let the bike past before signalling left.

Squeezing him like that was poor.

Cyclist did react, but probably should have been more defensive as it was clear taxi was going to crimp him! Cyclist was pretty unfazed by it.

I must admit I'm not sure what the law is in Ireland about cyclists undertaking.
I cycle quiet a lot, but that's mostly mountain biking, so I don't ride on roads much.
However if I was that cyclist, I wouldn't rather try to undertake that taxi . If I've seen taxi indicating left, then definitely I wouldn't undertake. But even after seeing taxi slowing down I still wouldn't undertake.
Generally, leaving aside Rules of the Road I think that undertaking car on bicycle is dangerous and shouldn't be done. I don't think I've ever done that really.

So your saying 'he seen the Cyclist'!?
Well if he did, he's an ignorant fcuk, the Cyclist was to close for him(car)to be an arsehole!?!?.
