I have the glass of the titans i got from aliexpress its amazing. got 2 of them and took one off and put a sp on mine. then put another glass of the titans on top of that. coupled with the case i can drop my phone from about shoulder height onto stone or concrete and know it is safe.

Would you have a link to that ?

It really is a very impressive phone. The little things like gestures, double tapping the screen when locked to unlock is extremely handy.

And to lock again you can double tap on thne statusbar.

On a differrent note, did anyone see the new headphones announced. Seem pretty premium and only cost about 15 euro or so.

Got it earlier and have played a round a little bit. My main disappointment is the camera doesn't seem as good as my Find 7 which had great clarity and sharpness, all the OPO pics look slightly blurry compared/

I got a pair of these and couldn't be happier with them, http://www.amazon.co.uk/JUSTOP-Bluetooth-Wireless-Earphones-Microphone/dp/B00GQEOJ24/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Micro USB charging means I can charge them anywhere but with intermittent use (an hour or two here and there) I usually charge them twice a week.

Whack the cable behind your head and you're good to go. I totally forget I have them in.

Noticed a crack across the screen today. Hoping it is the tempered glass and not the actual screen.

Afraid to take a proper look :(

Finally took a proper look and it was the tempered glass thankfully.

Hmmm, Im starting to suspect my phone might be doing a lot in my pocket when Im walking around at work due to the doubletap to wake function, I often unlock it to see random apps running, losing my place in an ebook or having an entirely different book open etc, hopefully the case will sort it when it gets here, would hate to have to turn gestures off.

Just wondering on the screen real estate, I'm a junkie for high res. I'm using slimrom on an s3 with google now launcher and I get 30 apps per screen, how many is possible with oneplus one?

If you root the phone and use texdroider_dpi you can lower the dpi to reduce the size of the icons and fit I'd imagine pretty much as many as you want. I lowered mine to 420dpi and I've 30 apps per screen with a good bit of spacing between them using Nova launcher set at 6x5 for the app screen. However I just tested it there now and changed it to 7x6 so now have 42 on the app screen, it's just a little bit more cramped looking but still ok.

So between being able to make the icons as small as you want and change the grid sizes independently for the Home screen, app screen and Dock etc. you can pretty much have it any way you want.

In case anyone is interested in using mailboxde. My phone arrived into germany today and the forward charge was 13 euro. I am not sure if there will be customs charge due when landed in Ireland. Because of this fear i selected Czech post over DHL as a carrier.

Total price 323. Hopefully that is all and the savings will pay for the cases etc...

    Very easy up until now

One of our favourite little customisation of the OnePlus One is that you can change what the notification LED looks like. That not only includes how it pulses, but the colour too. How come? The OnePlus One uses a a full multi-colour LED that sits just to the right of the front-facing camera.

Go to Settings > Display & Lights and then tap on Pulse Notification Light to get to the right customisation menu. You should see a little box to the right of an entry labelled Default. Tap on it to choose the exact colour for your notification pulses.

Fancy a pink OnePlus One light? no problem.
Nice, that piss weak little white light that you could barely see in daylight and only seemed to go off every 3 seconds is now gone and I have a rapidly flashing green light instead.

I'm new to this rooting Android devices but after reading all the posts here it looks like the best thing to do with this phone. I have read all the help guides on how to root the phone so I reckon I am ready to give it a go. Just one question - I have my brand new oneplus in the box unopened, do I just turn it on and start the root process or do I do a couple of things such as get the latest updates but starting the process? Remember I am a rookie and have never carried out this task before. Any help greatly appreciated....

ask a few here they will help ya more than likely
    make sure you have drivers
make sure the phone is charged fully
i never did mine but I would mess around with it first then see if you wanted to root it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,180 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Yeah make sure you turn the phone on and plug it in and let the drivers load properly the first time, or the first couple of times maybe. Transfer your music or something and reboot a couple of times just to make sure its all ready to go first after that its a piece of piss, make sure its charged:

Hi guys. Totally new to android (iPhone for the last 5 years). Making the change over and after a lot of research I'm really looking to the OnePlusOne (had been looking at HTC One M8 and Z3).

For anyone that has the handset what are the best/worst things about it? There doesn't seem to be any major problems with it as of yet. Am I right? Is it really as good as it sounds? Last but not least how difficult is it to get an invite to purchase one?

EDIT: Can anyone shed some light onto how it is priced so low? Surely it can't be due to the lack of a massive marketing budget?

Post a request in the invite thread on this board, they're giving them away these days. I really cant fault it, nicest device Ive ever used, any minor annoyances you can find can be customized away. The hardware is perfect.

Priced so low as its direct from manufacturer and the after market service is not going to be Applesque.

Its actually very difficult to put into words just how happy I am that I've gotten rid of my iPhone and am now using this. It really is is great device. However it does come with its minor issues. Its not Tue sort of phone that will never have a problem. Thus far though I've been able to air out any issues I've had. One major one I wrote a fix about a page or two back. I have not rooted it as of yet as I dont believe theres a new to for me personally. Others will give you ideas of the winders of rooting.

Just added my name to the list for one. Hopefully I get one soon! That seems to be the general consensus about the phone alright. Cheers!

Yeah I'm totally confident that any Android I get will be a step up from what I have ATM. Totally fed up with a sluggish iPhone. From what I've read on the forums the Customer Service leaves a bit to be desired but I'm sure they are far more worried with filling orders than Customer Service right now so I can get past that. I don't think I'll be rooting yet. Need to reed up a lot more on the advantages/disadvantages of it. Thanks for the input.
