Paul Dunne now level after getting a birdie on the fifth.

Zach Johnson has now joined Scott and Weekley on -3. All three have bogey free cards so far. The only other player ahead of them that also had a bogey free round was McIlroy.

Apparently Ernie's ball hit a child on the first hole, and he's quite upset about it.

Didn't he hit someone on the second as well?

Bold step would have been more appropriate!

Didn't hear that. BBC guys were talking about the episode on the first, saying he was out of sorts as a result. Not having a good day anyway.

Silly three putt from Bubba now.

Any idea what the disc is on the players caps. Guessing it's not a marker, maybe a tracking device for slow play?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,244 ✭✭✭rrpc

Lowry and Dunne have both dropped shots so are now one over. Adam Scott has another birdie on the 9th and parred the next two, still bogey free. Johnson and Weekley have blotted their copybooks.

Conditions windier in the evening or the same?

And now Scott has picked up a bogey, so he's back to -3. Paul Dunne just made the turn in 36, so heading into the back nine with three par 5s (he's already birdied the one on the front nine). Not bad for a 21 year old from Greystones.

Birdied the 10th now to get back to level

    Cheers guys!

Had a look at this thread last night for useful info on who to back & went with McIlroy, Fowler, Speith & Broberg.

Considering McIlroy's blow outs on Friday I opted for him to lead 1st Round too.

Sorry if after-timing but I based on your opinions

As has Lowry now, so they are still shadowing each other. Leading amateur is on -2 so a bit of work for Paul to do to catch him, but he's playing very nicely and his putter must be on fire since he's averaging 1.6 putts per hole.

Scott back to -4 after birdieing the par 3 13th.

Edit: but bogeyed the 14th, so back to -3 he goes :)

You backed Broberg? Watched him in the Scottish and he looked like he was going to explode at the slightest setback. Played pretty well mind, but he'd wreck my head if I was playing with him.

They're called Freaky Fridays now :)

Yea I backed him after seeing him tipped up here, 200/1. Tbh never seen much if him but will watch him a bit now

In profit if McIlroy finishes 1st Rd leader so can sit back and enjoy for the weekend :)

ok, no freaky Friday McIlroy :)

    Lowry -2 after 12 :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,244 ✭✭✭rrpc

Lowry on a bit of a roll now. Has birdied the first three holes on the back nine for 2 under. Paul Dunne is now one over having bogeyed the par 3 13th. Adam Scott is -4 again with a birdie on the par 5 16th.

Interestingly only three players have finished bogey free (of the players under par that is) so far: McIlroy, Moore and Bjorn. Jason Dufner could join that group as he manfully pars his way through the back 9.

And he gets a fantastic up and down from the cabbage 40 yards out for a bogey :)

And he could 3 putt from 6 feet... that why I love and sometimes hate to watch Phil

Keegan Bradley is taking the p**s with how long it takes him to take a shot!

Keenan Bradley's pre shot routine is ridiculous. I never remember it being this bad.

I'm always expecting him to hit the ball with that stupid club spin thing.

    Truly bizarre.
I thought he was gonna run up and hit it Happy Gilmore style for a minute there.
Cannot be that strong mentally doing all that twirling of the club etc.

Don't be having a go at Twitchy, he's one of my favourite golfers :)

I believe Tom Watson brought him with him to Gleneagles for a reccy, so he's obviously highly thought of in the US Ryder Cup camp. Could be the USA's answer to Poulter I suppose.

The Dufster has managed to balls up his card with a bogey on the 18th. Lowry has taken another breather of a par on 15 and Paul Dunne has bogeyed the same hole to go two over. Adam Scott finished with a par, so it's a four under 68 for him.

Looks like your bet on McIlroy is safe. The only player who could threaten his first round lead is Shane Lowry, but he needs three birdies to equal or an eagle in there somewhere.

Could be done, but it's not very probable.
