Her brother in laws brother in the UK has just had a kid

I know where this name's popularity comes from. Rio Ferdinand of course! I find it surprising how many children get called after soccer stars these days. I already mentioned Alex Ferguson but you can't help but see the resurgence of such names as David, Lionel, Rio, etc. all after footballers!

There was a lad in my class when we were making our confirmation.
He chose his confirmation name as 'Fernando'(After Fernando Torres obviously)

By god the slagging he got was unprecedented by any slagging give to anyone anywhere.

Max is grand, but Rex would not be grand in Ireland. It's a dog's name here. Rex is okay in other cultures and is actually a real name. It originally of course means King. Now, Rover would be an entirely different story: I don't think that would be a proper name for non-dogs anywhere!

Assumpta is another name I will bring up. Again, ok in context as a nun's name. Other than that, it is highly inappropriate. If the parent's are devout Catholics, find something else. There's plenty saint's names to choose from.

Came across this story (http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/grant-adams-death-family-speak-7246623) about a freak accident that killed a 17 year old guy but by the end of it, all I could concentrate on was the good awful name he wanted to give to his future daughter.

My brothers friends are just after having a baby. There second name is murphy. They called their son Laurence. Nothing wrong with that, until someone pointed out that you are just after calling your kid 'Larry Murphy"

    Who's that?

A 2 year old child who was murdered by 2 10 year olds (I think). They then dumped his body on the railway track. One of the highest profile murders in the UK in modern times.

The 2 10 year olds recently got out but one of them John Venables, was sent back to prison for posessing child pornography. But I think he is out again. At the time, some people were trying to blame the murders on the film "Childs Play".

I've heard so many names I hate that I wouldn't know where to start. But I will tell you the BEST name I've ever heard: I used to teach a student from Thailand whose first name was MacGyver!!!

It sounds like the name of a sound that a woman might make post-coital.

Off topic but the child's name was James Bolger, not Jamie. A lot of the media went with Jamie though, probably because it sounds more sympathetic. Never liked how they changed his name in print. Poor little dude, that was 21 years ago.

On topic, any father and son that share the same first name is lame.

    cait
    Cornila
    Kai (boy)

Family I know wanted a boy had the name darra they had a girl named it adarra

Although my mother got told my own name was stupid by a nurse when I was born it's a common easy pronounced name now. So maybe all these shakeras and byonces will think nothing of it as it will be common place.
