Dole is set by the government, not by market equilibriums.

Pay is the private sector is set by how much the company feels that person is worth. It's a supply and demand situation. In theory, there is no such thing as an overpaid person in the private sector...everybody is paid what the company feels they are worth to them.

Dole is set to enable people who've fallen on hard times to afford the cost of living.

They can pay them what they want, they should get taxed accordingly.

My current gross salary is currently €24,000 a year.

I'm starting at the bottom and I'm going to work my butt off the next 10 years to ensure I'm near the top.

So now you claim I vote for people that attacks me? I'll give you another go there.

You're the job bridge generation, most of you will be staying at sub 30k for the rest of your days. Enjoy.

You are pro taking more cash from those who already pay for the overwhelming majority of our benefits and public services.

Someone has to pay and it should be those who can afford it. This is fair or you want more people to become homeless?

They have had medical cards withdrawn? There were nearly riots when it was suggested that rich pensioners should have to pay their own medical fees like the rest of us.

Deary me ?? All pensioners are now rich.
I thought you didn't want the rich effected.

So you have no problem with all the nurses, teachers, junior doctors etc who have already left?

I would rate a nurse, teacher and doctor as highly skilled.

Where did i say i had a no problem with them leaving? The truth of the matter is they are leaving to go to countries that will pay them a better wage, that's their choice. Do you think the answer to the countries problems are to supertax anyone earning more than 80k causing more skilled workers to leave?

You've stated you're happy to see people become homeless or live on the breadline if it means higher earners don't have to pay. Is it you who's trolling?

Cool, care to show me where I said that?

Stop making things up because you can't make an intelligent argument.

You know the Irish education system needs radical reform when grown adults think it is the hard working section of society that are the "scourge on our society"

Well those happy to see more people become homeless and watch thousands of young people being forced to emigrate are not nice people that's for sure.

We are losing the skilled teachers, nurses etc because this Govt is treating them very badly. How come you have no problem with them leaving but you have with the rich leaving?

So your answer is to cut the people who are struggling and leave the big earners alone. Wonderful.

Where did i say leave the "big earners" alone? I said a 5% hit on everyone. What would you consider to be a big earner?

Oh right, there are only 10,000 people who never worked a day in their lives. That's fine then.

Here are some stats about who pays for everything in this country:

If you're living in this country and are working in an overpaid job then you'll get taxed.

Did i say they were? I'm saying if you start super taxing people on 80k (that's really not a huge salary btw) then you will have a massive exodus of highly skilled people from the country

Better off sending the highly skilled under 25 crowd away instead says you.

So everyone earning a good salary needs to take a hit because one private company pays the chief exec more than you (and I) think he is worth?

I get paid a lot more than Mr. Muller. I just don't think I should look down on people

Look if Aer Lingus was fully owned by the state we'd be up in arms about his pay, instead we seem to be put out because his staff want some extra days off. Are they not worth this, do the board of directors at Aer Lingus think more of one man than off the rest of their staff?

You won't answer the most basic questions. "A fair system" - LOL

When you provide answers you can expect to get some.

LOL Your only answer is attack the poor and leave the rich alone.

Overpaid job according to this guy = anyone earning more than him, even if they are top professionals.

    Pathetic.

Don't worry, if your idiotic proposals were followed, you wouldn't have to send them, they will leave themselves and take their earning potential with them.

No there are instances in Ireland where clearly CEO's are overpaid for their job in a small country. IMO if they want more money they work towards bigger jobs in bigger countries.

You keep saying that the rich will leave and that it would worry you but why just mention them when thousands of skilled teachers, nurses etc are leaving each year? Is it because they just earn a pittance?

I know all socialists believe that anyone on more than 40k is bourgeoisie scum and needs to be executed come the revolution, but some people worked very hard to earn their qualifications and get their jobs.

I earn over 40k, you're talking crap. I worked very hard but that doesn't mean I think I'm better than people who've fallen on hard times. Why do you look down your nose at people like that?

What has that got to do with my post.

Your childish flailing is becoming pathetic. Are you just working your way through the bullet points on a People Before Profit leaflet?

It's your opinion, maybe you should take a look at yourself if you don't like it.

80k seems to be your cut off. But yes, those earning less are - on average - likely to be less talented or work less hard.

Do you think people are assigned jobs by some sort of random lottery? "Oh sh!t, I drew McDonalds". "Never mind, I drew 'brain surgeon', I'll buy you a pint."

So teachers or nurses are less talented or work less hard than you? That statement really is revealing about the kind of person we're dealing with.
