Satellite FTA channels come from your dish, via your box, to your TV. So this has nothing to do with Network Settings or Broadband or anything like this. So if you no longer get BBC and other FTA channels, then you have other issues - like the cable falling out of the socket at the back.

Am also seeing the pi struggle more since I have set it up with a class 10 sd and running openelec to USB on a USB 3 stick . Any thoughts there esp augreoooo.

How and what guide did you use when setting up the SD/USB combo?

You should see a noticeable increase in performance especially now that you are writing all data e.g epg to the USB and not the SD.

Are you connection wired, or wireless to your > home network > stb ?

Then you have a problem that cannot be discussed here as it's illegal, ask Google

If you search this thread for 'swapfile' you will find the answer. Basically it is a file that you make on a USB drive. Internal memory on the Alien2 is limited and the swapfile allows it to swap out information that is stored in its internal memory that it does not need immediately to make room for more info it does need to use with a high priority.

Using your remote you go to Menu then Plugins then HDD Mount Manager. You should be able to arrow down to 'Enable Swapfile' then right arrow to change the No to a Yes. Myself and pistolpetes11 weren't able to make it switch to Yes I'd be interested to see if it will for you.

    Flex

Am I being a complete tool but I cant see HDD mount manager in plugins using Pot's new image. Any ideas?

Do you need one, the swapfile was only required for my image, which is a different one, not Hyperion

I have just tried fresh pots newest image and it's not allowing me to use my hard drive or flash drive for recording, its recognising them no problem but is telling me to format them, they are currently fat 32 and ntfs, they both worked fine in my last image (champs) I have a load of files on them I don't want to lose, thanks, nigel

You will need to go back to champ's image or format the drive to EXt3

Is mine the only image supporting non-ext3 formatted drives ?

Thanks for the reply. I know I'm drifting slightly from the omiko section. There are improvements but I not really comparing apples with oranges. I over clocked it to medium and it has improved. I followed the you tube guide with the downloadable zip file openelec to USB .

On the live tv issue could it be possible that I need a MPEG 2 licence?

so I am guessing the over-clocking has improved performance and that issue is now gone

yes and MPEG2 License will do the trick

    One more thing..

Are you wired or wireless? ..my setup is across GB wired LAN

Just for anyone using pots image and it being slow at the start.
It boils down to the fact that when the box boots for the first time no channel is tuned in ie rte1 but when you go in to bouquets and select bbc1 for example the remote responses become much much faster.

Does anyone know how to get a picon back? I have autobouquets auto scan switched off as I have the 28.2 channels organised as my favourites. I had to do a rescan to pick up itv hd (FTA) after it changed frequencies and then I moved it from last scanned to the 28.2 location now the picon isn't showing up for it. I tried using rats picon updater plugin, it said it detected the picon folder but the itv hd picon doesn't come up. I'm running Fresh pots/TTG's Hyperion V3 image. Cheers

The server for rats picons is down, but you can manually download them and ftp them to /usr/share/enigma2

    Thanks for that,
I have to post 5 times to that forum or pay a sub before I can download. Anyone have the updated picons file available? much appreciated.

Just to update on Hyperion 4 which I have been using for the last week.

Recording is definitely better on this than Hyperion 3 and any other E2 image I have used ,I have yet to have the hard drive lock up when recording .
I also recorded 2 HD channels and watched a third for a bit and the picture was fine ,it didnt break up like before .
Hyperion 4 seems to have lower memory usage .

I have noticed that RTE1 HD is breaking up a bit ,the signal strength seems lower than before but this could be a signal issue.

Audio is still low on AC3 channels ,HDMU is the only image that doesnt seem to have this issue .
PLi-HD skin now and next issue has been resolved too ,the eventname doesnt need to be modded like previously.
The timeshift stop warning still doesnt work though ,nothing displayed when you press to stop timeshift.
    Thumbs up so far

My experience as well. The only niggle I have is having to format the USB in EXT2/3, but then I can't copy what I have recorded onto my PC because it doesn't recognise the USB. Someone said to use Samba Server to transfer the file, but I don't know how to set up Samba.

It's very easy, just enable the plugin, make sure the workgroup is set to WORKGROUP (it's not in Champions image, change it) and share hdd is set to yes. then on your PC open computer and click map network drive, for folder put in \\ipofbox\hdd, make sure connect using different credentials is ticked and select finish. It will ask for a username and pass, use the one for whatever image you are using. The drive on the box will then appear as a mapped drive, you'll be able to drag and drop like any other Windows drive

Sorry but imo, to correct you but you do NOT have to match the workgroup name to that of your pc or make it any specific name

The default is WORKGROUP or MSHOME (XP)

I reverted to champions image as I was having difficulty mounting drives for recording, crossepg and swapfile in Hyperion v4. All working well again...
