It's a great image , I never got the green screen on boot the first time.

I never enabled the swap file either as when I went into it I could not change from no to yes but it's working away perfectly .

I have done up a more complete favorites list and that is all I changed.

Just got one of these boxes and trying to set up box with enigma 2 following pog's guide. Got as far as here..

"Reboot the box with the USB inserted then go to plugins and enable the e2upgrade plugin. You will see a Start OSD option with the red button (you may need a reboot after enabling the plugin if you don't see it at first), select this and navigate to the enigma2 folder on your Usb and you will see an upgrade Enigma2 option on the red button."

When I hit red button to start OSD it get this message "cannot find kernel file, upgrade fail". Any ideas to what is the problem???

See can you go to standby or into CoolTvGuide menu settings. I was getting out of memory green screens so enabled the swap file and it fixed them.

the plugin is looking in c: for the kernel, you probably have it in a folder on c so you need to direct the plugin to the folder. Press ok and select the folder containing the kernel and all should work then.

Sorry, this is all new to me!! How do I direct the plugin to the folder? Thanks for your help.

In the plugin it'll show the filepath storage/c. Press ok and navigate to the folder that you have the image files in. When the folder is highlighted press the red button to select it. Then press the red button again to upgrade.

Cheers, got it working. I took the two files out of enigma2 folder and save to root and it worked a treat. Don't know what image I downloaded but it's very slow, takes about 5 secs to repond after press on remote. Gona try the new Hyperion v4 image. Thanks again.

Must be an issue elsewhere. I can see the Amiko in network in xbmc and have set the vuo enigma client to 80 and 8001 and username to root with no password. Wired one but have had this working on other devices but must have a problem elsewhere in the setup.

If you search this thread for 'swapfile' you will find the answer. Basically it is a file that you make on a USB drive. Internal memory on the Alien2 is limited and the swapfile allows it to swap out information that is stored in its internal memory that it does not need immediately to make room for more info it does need to use with a high priority.

Using your remote you go to Menu then Plugins then HDD Mount Manager. You should be able to arrow down to 'Enable Swapfile' then right arrow to change the No to a Yes. Myself and pistolpetes11 weren't able to make it switch to Yes I'd be interested to see if it will for you.

You have to create the swapfile, arrow right to 256MB and enable it, it will take 2-3 mins to prepare. If you already have a swapfile in the root of your hdd delete it and make new

No, it will be a space on your hard drive for the box to use when ram is full, ram would many times faster. Ram is fast, hard drives are slow. It's exactly like the page file Windows uses.

I suppose it does increase performance compared with not using a swapfile at all. The reason for the green screens without the swapfile is I guess because the Alien 2 just doesn't have enough memory to run several different plugins at the same time.

Need your help championc and augreooooo.
Reloaded openelec frodo onto USB and setup vuo duo and was able to capture the Amiko channel listing. So I can now see the epg listings's but can't play the channels. Am also seeing the pi struggle more since I have set it up with a class 10 sd and running openelec to USB on a USB 3 stick . Any thoughts there esp augreoooo.

hey lads, any chance of a little help, i just got my amiko 2 and plugged it in, but im getting nothing! is there a certain network setup to get these working? im directly connected!

Hi folks, I have the SAB triple tuner box & I use it exclusively in enigma2 mode, when the clocks went forward recently the time on the front led display didn't change, all other time settings displayed in enigma menus did update correctly including epg, system time, etc, I did check the manual but it's not mentioned....thanks

Go into standby once to fix the clock on the display

Thats the most vague query I think I've ever seen on here. What "nothing" are you getting of what? Have you looked through the three hundreds or so pages of posts in this thread for your query/answer?
What image are you using? A few of the lads on here have spent a lot of time to create full images that you can use

Whats the issue with your box ?

Some boxes are set on default that it starts on RTE1 or another Saorview station , I have noticed when you only have a sat signal in they can stall looking for the station

Basically @ufc pro, the box (or the manufacturers) cannot read your mind and know what satellite you wish to view, or which transmitter you have for terrestrial. So you need to tune in (scan) your stations.

Very sorry for the lack of knowledge on this i am only new to this, i bought the box pre set flashed with thetechguys image im told,
On my first boot of the box all chanells came on then after a reboot they stopped working only bbc hd and some others worked, i checked the network status in the settings of yhe box and it failed on ip, i then used the network wizard which resulted in finding the ip but still no chanells, i think its a problem with my router it doesnt seem to be letting it connect, im with upc, i read that maybe a static ip would help, again im not sure, i was wondering of you guys had any ideas?

I have searched but cannot find anything on this problem!

Have you tried rebooting the router and then restarting the network in settings on your box?
