Anyone getting a 16003 error when casting Netflix?

I'm getting a 16001 when trying to use Netflix. It used to work fine, but never works now. No amount of resetting etc fixes it.
    YouTube works fine...

I've had that error code as well!
Only workaround I've found is to cast Youtube then switch it back to Netflix. Fairly annoying though!

Hooked mine up to my Samsung TV last night, friend picked it up in Best Buy in the US last week.
Setup was easy, it self updated & restarted the TV & router.

I've only tried casting from Chrome, YouTube & Netflix so far but it's working beautifully, very impressed!

    Try it with Allcast,

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.cast

    Or Avia,

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.videon.android.mediaplayer

to cast your local media via dlna......

Also Plex, Bubble uPnP and Real Player cloud can now stream local media to your Chromecast TV.......

    And take a look at Flipps.…..and iMediaShare.…....

    The list is growing.

Most also work to Smart TV's and Roku.

I'm getting it playing through a sound system which is connected via optical port.

Thanks mate! I assume you have the Chromecast plugged into a HDMI in on the sound system\amplifier?

    Cheers,

Chromecast is plugged into the HDMI connection in the back of the TV!

No mate its a sound bar. No reason why you wouldn't get it on 5.1

It has more apps and a remote. They are the two main differences. Chromecast is a bit cheaper but it's not major when compared to an Apple TV. Speed wise they are they same, both have 1080p and both can do local media.

I don't think you need a remote and like to use a phone or tablet but some people prefer the real buttons of a remote control kinda like the way people prefer buttons on a blackberry phone instead of a touchscreen.

As far as apps go Roku has Amazon Instant and can't see that coming to Chromecast but it's not much use in Ireland anyway. Right now the Roku has more apps but doesn't launch for another month and chromecast will have more apps by then and will probably overtake Roku in apps during the summer. The chrome beta browser on Android has chromecast support and chromecast support is coming to Google Drive too so looking long term your better off with the chromecast. The Roku can't mirror your tablet or phone something which is also coming to chromecast via AllCast if not Android.

My TV with the Chromecast plugged in won't output 5.1 :-(

There must be some setting on your TV to change your audio output.

Chromecast won't output 5.1 unless its plugged directly into a HDMI input of an amp/reciever to decode the output which will then go to your 5.1 speaker system.
The amplifier must also support Dolby Digital Plus format for Netflix 5.1 content.

Plugging it direct to a TV HDMI will only output stereo or 2.1 if your TV has subwoofer also.
Plugging it into a soundbar will just convert that stereo (PCM 2.0) input to 2.1 or some sort of faked 5.1 converted output.

From what I have read up on it all you are exactly right mate! Might be time for me to get some new kit ;-)

The sound is actually grand but having 5.1 would be even better! Considering I'm not prepared to pay for Netflix I guess it's not worth worrying about!

Can't buy the chromecast on Amazon.com anymore. Doh! :(

Edit - picked one up for 35euros shipped from a reliable looking seller.

Google just announced that the Chromecast is now available in 11 new counties, Ireland is not included :( Price is £30 and it's already on the Currys UK site but it's showing as out of stock.
Superheroes, cliff divers, fearless reporters or pop icons—whatever you like to watch, Chromecast makes it easy to bring it from a phone, tablet or laptop to the biggest screen in your house: the TV. Since announcing Chromecast in the U.S., we’ve grown to include more of your favorite apps and websites. Those numbers will continue to grow, and we want to bring Chromecast to more people around the world. Today Chromecast is available in an additional 11 countries—Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the U.K.

In addition to your favorite apps like YouTube, Google Play Movies, Google Play Music and Netflix (where available), we’re working with local content providers to bring even more of the movies and TV shows you love to Chromecast. Apps will start rolling out today, and include BBC iPlayer in the U.K.; France TV Pluzz and SFR TV in France with CANALPLAY coming soon; and Watchever in Germany with Maxdome coming soon. So instead of huddling around your laptop to watch Sherlock solve the next crime or getting caught up on all the workplace drama in Stramberg, you can cast it, sit back, and watch together on the big screen.

Chromecast will keep getting better. We recently opened up Chromecast to developers, and in a few short weeks more than 3,000 developers worldwide have signed up to bring their apps and websites to Chromecast. You’ll soon have more TV shows, movies, videos, sports, music and games to choose from. Stay up-to-date on the latest apps that work with Chromecast at chromecast.com/apps.

So if you’re in one of these 11 countries, look for Chromecast starting today at Amazon, Google Play, Currys PC World, Elkjøp, FNAC, Saturn, Media Markt and other retailers.

Parcel Motel should be handy for buying from the UK. It'll also likely turn up on Amazon.

    £30 + 3.50euros to Parcel Motel.

This may have been answered already but just wondering is it worth getting the chromecast if I already have a smart tv(sony)?
