    Dear MR HAl1

This is your motor tax reminder. Please retain as you will not receive a renewal notice in the post.

Motor Tax for your SILVER BLAND BOX expires on the last day of JANUARY 2014.

If you have recently taxed this vehicle, please ignore this notice.

Well I guess I'll be paying mine too :P, but for how long...

Wonder would they look twice at the change of ownership of you put your dads name down as the new owner?

Just a heads up. If anyone's insurance is up soon its worth calling fbd. They seem to be undercutting everyone at the moment maybe it's just to meet January targets I don't know. But my insurance was up 31st December got cheapest quote with broker who is normally very reasonable.

But I wasn't happy at all with the quote more than last year no trailer cover and no breakdown assist ( which completly fcuked me over last year when I broke down) at the same time my parents were renewing their house insurance and fbd gave them a great price. So rang them not expecting much as they are normally expensive. They gave me a policy with better cover breakdown assist trailer cover and other stuff wait for it for just over 450 euro less  :D

I came VERY close to buying an early 216GTI without the chromed grille. It was even a 3dr in red. I'm still sorry I didn't.

I keep looking at them and wanting one to use at weekends. It's nothing special but I like it.

Wouldn't be the one near IADT? That's the last time I saw one of those....

Yup we essentially bank personal time spent travelling and take it as time in lieu at a later date, which works if you get to take holidays a lot. I am booked for consulting until mid June at the moment:eek:

That's a fair enough deal; when I was charging by the hour, my firm generally expected travelling time at weekends too (incl intercon travel) but there was no question of time in lieu. When I worked at a bank, travelling was always on your own time. ONe of my colleagues used to have a rule as to who was allowed to travel back to Asia during the week (generally necessitating woking hours travel or missed time)- only people with kids allowed.

He was based in Hong Kong and of course it was perfectly permissible for him to fly to New York during working hours - 12-14 hours starting at 10am and arriving at 2pm local, drinking all the way......

Needless to say he was Irish.

I used to have a real thing for that exact car, 3dr red, real cool and quite unusual. Not sure I'd be interested now, looks good still but I imagine it's as slow as a Duster!

Just in relation to a point made Re Vectra sale - hope this isn't taken up the wrong way.

But do people seriously expect someone to carry 2/3 grand cash around with them.

Completely understand not taking a cheque - but would a bank draft be such a bad thing - if both buyer and seller go to sellers bank to lodge it???.

Or do bank drafts need x amount of working days to go through (always thought they went through straight away - if legit)

This one was in the UK but I've seen that one parked on Shrewbury road in the past. It looks identical to the one I wanted.

I put a Duster through it's paces and enjoyed the limits of what it could do :ahem:

There was a 92 Rover 216 cabriolet with brand new NCT in the bangernomics thread for €600 a few weeks back.

I always thought that generation Rover 200/400 were quite nice cars tbh.

Think I prefer the front and rear styling of the Honda Concerto sister car though.

Spotted that and I was looking at it tonight. I'm not a fan of the cabby and I can't put my finger on what I don't like about that one.

I renewed yesterday with them. Been with them the last 3 years and find them excellent. A bit of haggling got the price close enough to the next cheapest (liberty) but the cover is a lot more comprehensive. They did about 10 temporary subs for me this year and it didn't cost me a penny.

Depends if it's money or bills I'd say

    From the picture thread,
Yeah BA i got an estate, it's something different and plus I need the room, grandmothers getting around equipment and so on, walking frame and the like, just about fitted into the astras boot, plus it's a nice sleeper, fools people ;)

Scortho, the alloys wreck my head, they ruin it for me to be honest haha so they must go!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,880 ✭✭✭Kaiser D

3 spoke alloys never look well imo.

What will you be changing them for?

Fair enough, I like them purely because the car is a sleeper. I'd sooner put the money into better breaks and suspension, followed by a bigger turbo followed by alloys.
