yeah I knew what you meant. new dish, lnb and 1 or even 2xdiseqs might still be not much more than a saorview box, and probably a better experience.

You'll get a Saorview box for less than €50 in Argos. Saorsat needs an 80cm dish and a different type of LNB

Yeah am aware of the needs, also diseqc switch etc, first site I checked comes in around 100 euro for the above, so twice the price of a saorview box, but probably worth it for a more integrated solution, could sell on the 60cm dish anyway to offset the cost slightly.

Might all be moot anyway as I might not have visibility of the 9ka sat from the current dish anyway, need to see my visibility when i get home.

    Hi,
I've just got a box and am trying to install Enigma 2.
I'm trying to flash back to 1.2.51 E2 Boot Upgrade to load enigma 2.
However the Upgrade Software button is greyed out.
I've searched this thread and forum and while it's mentioned I can't seem to find a solution.
    Any takers?

You can't download Spark firmware prior to 1.2.65 (I think) from Spark Online upgrade any more because of a problem they had with the Spark Weather App last summer 2013.

Lots of other forums have all the previous Spark firmware available to download. Amikostb.com is as good as source as any (click on the downloads section) and includes instructions on how to install/upgrade firmware via a USB key.

Hi guys, just wondering would anyone be able to take my golden media triplex box, fix it and i will pay them for their time and expertise, ill do the travelling to meet with you, or whatever suits. I'm from the Waterford area.
i have made several attempts with the help of the good guys on here but its too complicated for me, i have no computer skills at all which made things worse.
any help at all would be much appreciated it.

Someone could put an image on your box for you but then there will always be some amount of tinkering to do such as updating plugins or occasionally re-installing things...

You might be better off with an easier to use box? I started off with a basic comb box which I still use most of the time. You can find one called a Xoro 9000+ on this website for only €90. It doesn't have any fancy features but it combines Saorview and Free-to-Air Satellite channels into one and is fool proof and never ever gives any problems.

    Hey Tayto
I have the latest version of AR-P working now with the basic stuff so I reckon it is worth a go since it didn't like my Hyperion image.

Hi Championc, currently i have your Hyperion image installed. Haven't had that much time to play and configure it. What would the benefits be of using the open ar-p image. Does it have a nicer ui interface?

Be interested in the same as Fatbeard. Champ do you have a list of what you have running under that image and any shortcomings when compared to your Hyperion V2.

The image Champ has, is a test image from the Open AR-P developers, it includes the judder fix.
However it is a test image.

For those of us who are having problems with the second mux tuning it does not fix this :-(
I am beginning to think that it may be because I have a DVB-T2 version if the box (also it is a GM Triplex)

Other than that from what I tried of the image (ChampionC has gone much further than me with it) it is more responsive than Hyperion.

I have to say that I just felt AR-P to be faster for loading stuff like the EPG. The UI is all about Skins so I use the same one on both. The one thing which I really like about Hyperion is the PKT BluePanel, though the clock on the VFD annoys me whereas it's spot on, on AR-P

So I have the Basic stuff on the latest AR-P so far - AutoBouquets, AutoTimer, CacheFlush, CrossEPG, CoolTVGuide, OSCam, RatsPicons - which is possibly good enough for 90% of users. I just need to check streaming of one channel while watching another. I tried changing the 60-dvb-ca.rules file but I then got nothing at all, so I need to re-look at that again since that could be a deal breaker for me, and many others :(

I have a spare usb DVB-T tuner knocking about at home and will see what happens when I connect it maybe at the weekend. I have the AA2 DVB-T model and if recording RTE One, all other Terrestrial channels get greyed out

Since it's a linux box, how long does it take to boot and show a channel?

Or do ye just keep it powered on all the time?

Can it get corrupted from a unexpected shutdown ?
Or are you supposed to shut it down safely before turning it off?

It takes over a minute to boot from a power down.
There is a standby mode - my tv takes longer to wake up so it might be a few seconds but is irrelevant. I just use standby mode. (turning off by the remote)

I have never done anything to "Shutdown" before using the on/off switch at the back of the box.

I Likewise I never had any issues with sudden power-downs. Standby to on is instant. (I think it only shuts off the video output) There is also a "Deep Standby" option which takes less than 1 minute to restart.

My brother has that exact box, no problems tuning in MUX2 on Hyperion V2 and V3.

I am not having a problem with hyperion - just AR-P and HDMU (tried it last night)

Right, I got all streaming working. So I just need to see what other plugins I need to add like TSMedia, 1Channel .......

Does anybody know if there is a quick way to transfer files from my laptop to the Hard Drive on my Amiko.

I have a number of movies on my laptop so I used DCC and began to FTP the movies over to the Hard Drive I have connected to my Amiko, however it is taken forever to do e.g 20 minutes to do one movie.

Is there some other application, plugin I can use that would speed it up? I have about 50 movies so dont want to be sitting at the laptop until next xmas :D

    Thanks

With a wired connection, I wouldn't have thought it should take that long. However, if you have formatted the Hard Disk as EXT3, then you could maybe get a bootable linux CD / DVD and then mount the Hard Disk on the Laptop directly

Yeah the Hard Drive is formatted to EXT3.

I can actually download a movie from TSMedia quicker than it takes me to FTP the movie from the laptop to the Hard Drive :D

It is possible to get a driver for windows that allows you to access EXT3 formatted drives and therefore plug your HDD into your laptop.

    see:
    http://www.howtoforge.com/access-linux-partitions-from-windows
for some ways of doing that

also you could try a version of puppy linux which can boot from cd or usb key and mount from there

Ext2fsd is what I use for this and find it great:

I just use filezila, setup a profile for your box and then it's just a matter of clicking on the profile after launching filezila. Just drag and drop and your done. Transfers seems quick enough over wifi

Anyone with wi-fi routers, if you have an option for the Wireless Mode, do NOT select b/g - always use g only or g with n. You'll be amazed at the speed difference when you stay clear of b (even if you don't sync at B rate)

Ext2fsd is your friend here. Just install and configure it once and then every time you plug your ext3 hdd into your laptop it will appear like a regular fat32/ntfs drive (takes about 30 secs for hdd drive to appear under my computer). Download from here http://sourceforge.net/projects/ext2fsd/files/Ext2fsd/

Once installed plug your hdd into laptop, open up ext2fsd,go to tools, then service management and select start and untick read only box.
