Sold Lukaku for Remy, bit of a gamble but it may pay off as Everton have some tricky games coming up

Seems to be the popular transfer at the minute alright. Will you be captaining Remy this gameweek?

Looking back, I should have brought in Remy ahead of Lukaku last gameweek but I thought Everton would be better against Palace. I still think Lukaku blows hot and cold but he should be a season keeper if he can get firing again.

I was really impressed with Remy early on against Spurs, right up until he scored in fact. I was strongly considering him a real prospect for my team but then he seemed to go out of the game and I changed my mind. He's great value but I'm going to continue investing heavily in my strikeforce this year with the lack of performing premium players elsewhere. I'd certainly consider Lukaku as a better prospect in the long run and it's not so long since he was considered fixture proof. I saw an article on FFS which suggested that Shola Ameobi is looking at an extended run in the Newcastle team at 4.8m.

Like a few people my defence is perplexing me quite a lot for this week and the next few weeks.

    Mignolet / 4m Cheapie.
Dawson, Terry, Mertesacker, Clyne, Chester (inj)

Prob start them in that order this week in Chester not fit.

I have been stubbornly holding Chester and looks like he'll be back fit just as their decent fictures run down, should have swapped for Rosenior but that ship has sailed.

I had planned long term to swap Migs and Dawson for Lloris and Johnston but at my current selling prices the latter costs 0.9m more than the former for the same teams defence coverage so not as keen, although I'd like to have Johnston. Would it be worth it? Now that United start to look a bit more defensively sound De Gea would be an option to allow me to get Johnston at 0.2m less, and keep Dawson for Spurs cover.

I'm not looking to Clean Sheet happy for this week or the next 2 or three. While over Xmas Aresnal have a tough run.

I'd like to bring in a defender with better fixtures from now till Xmas and then maybe swap out Merts for Xmas too, but nobody springs out to me, and not sure who to drop short term. I'm willing to take a hit this week to get ready for Xmas but nobody that I'd be temoted by has a decent CS op this week to be worth a hit.

I'm thinking of my back 6 Clyne is the one who has the worst fixtures next 3 or 4 weeks, so logically he's the one to shift, but not sure who is better short term either. WBA defenders seem overpriced. Swansea's Davies perhaps? Not so sure about getting Rat now as WHU seem a bit more leaky without Reid.

Longer term I may get Kompany (who dropped again the other night) for Merts for Xmas period.

    Any wisdom out there?

Until he scored? He must have made some impression in that 13 minutes

Pardew stuck him out the wing in a few games. I'll keep an eye on him but finding a third good striker was a real problem for me last season and this year appears to be the same. Last season I had RVP and Suarez for the year but the third position was always the problem. This year I can see Suarez and Aguero being stalwarts and that third spot proving a problem again. I had thought Lukaku was the answer but he seems to be misfiring again.

    My own defence is:

    Mignolet Harper
    Terry Zabaleta Coleman Clyne Shaw

My plans are that Zab will go for Kompany and Shaw for a 4 million cheapie. That'll leave me with a defence of Terry and Kompany most weeks with one of Clyne, Coleman or my 4 mil cheapie playing.

Dawson has a tough run but Spurs are playing well so I'd hold him when you have him. I'd also hold Terry. Chelsea should come good. Kompany should be back now so if I was you I'd look at Mertesacker to Kompany sooner rather than later. That said, I'd hold off until Kompany has at least played a game which I'd hope will be this weekend.

I was banging on about johnson for a while and couldnt get him in quick enough as Liverpool had been playing 3 5 2 which suits him big time. At 5.7 playing in a 4 4 2 he is a decent option but in no way a must have. I'll probably get rid of him before xmas period unless they go back to 3 5 2. I wouldn't get rid of clyne he is a season keeper at that price. Im considering dawson out for yanga mbiwa or wait for it Mr Prodston(Mickey T). Dawson has tough fixtures and is one booking away from a suspension. Swiper will eventually get it right and it probably will be chirches and verthongen cb in time. Im having the same doubts about rat myself who was a player I had wanted.
GKs Krul at 5.0 could be an option decent fixtures till new year.

Remy/Aguero coin flip this week, City at home are a goal threat v anyone so Aguero is very tempting but in a week of low scoring i reckon i might chance Remy and hope for the best!

Arsenals next 4 games are southampton (h), cardiff (a), hull (h) and Everton (h). City have only kept 1 cleansheet in the last 7 (albeit kompany was absent for some of them). Whilst Arsenal only have 2 cleansheets in the last 7, those 2 came in the last 3 games (with the 3rd game being a 1-0 defeat at old trafford). Also they haven't conceded more than 1 goal in any of those 7 games.

Tl;dr - I wouldn't prioritise getting rid of mertesacker in the short run (I was actually looking at bringing him in).

Thanks lads. I tink Merts is good for the next 3 games but will get rid prob to Kompany then. My short term prob is mainly down to Chesters injury, cutting down my options badly, plus Spurs 2 very tough games. Suppose I should just hold my nerve and my 4 points...

Keeper wise Mignolet is actually coming into a good run and if they stay 442 would be good for a return to CSs, main reason to change was Johnston really an as pointed out, 442 no best fo him.

I do love selective stat quoting. 2 in 7. I'd prefer 3 clean sheets in 11 which is the accurate stat. Two of those clean sheets came against Spurs and Liverpool. Two other teams performing well. It's against the weaker teams they're less successful at keeping them.

I never underestimate Arsenal's ability to allow a team a consolation goal - proven above by that stat re only conceding one goal a game. Whether its one goal or three, once that clean sheet is gone it doesn't matter.

Btw, agree Clyne is a longterm keeper at that price, as is Chester when fit again, but with next 5 or 6 fixtures he has i could sell him for 4.6 and get somebody who may return better (and maybe go up in value) and then buy him back for 4.7 at most as he most likely wont rise again in tha period.

Maybe Evans, Davies, vlaar, pieters, olson.....

As you can see im itching for a transfer, an even at a hit both my cup opponents this week have much bette looking CS potential so the right move could pay off.

Benteke in the starting 11 again this week. Time for him to start banging them in like at the start of the season.
I reckon with his injury absence he's gone under the radar.
But then again, he hasn't returned much since coming back.

    Also bringing in Newcastle's Coloccini.

    Gamble gamble

Also keeping Sturride along with Suarez for gw13 and gw14 fixtures.

Crucial few weeks ahead.. Seriously considering ditching Ozil for cazorla... Free up some funds.. Not sure about keeping Sturridge long term either

Sturridge to Suarez this week for me. Furious I didn't do it last week.

Considering the points hit on Begovic to De Gea this week but Bego should be ok for this week. Reasonable win and CS chance.

I had total faith in Lukaku up until the last few weeks. Now not sure if I should stick it out or get Remy. Any ideas?

I'm giving Lukaku another weekend. I've my eye more on Benteke than Remy though. FFS pointed out he has a good run until GW20.

Think Im hanging on to mine for the first time this year. Sure, I could make a change, but it'll strenthening the bench for Christmas so gonna do a double next week instead.

See ya Monday when I have huge regret.

Just go with your gut and work from there. No point in regrets in this game. We all make mistakes.

The key is to just get on with it and not dwell on them.

In a bit of a pickle with my team selection.

Defenders and forwards all playing each other.

    Nastasic, Coleman and Dawson
    vs
    Aguero, Suarez and Lukaku.

Thinking of dropping Coleman as I have been for a while. Have 1.6 in the bank to upgrade with.

Clyne and Chester are my other two defenders. Any suggestions? I'm looking at Terry.

Sturrige to be assessed before tomorrows game,Kolo Toure is fit again & Enrique needs an operation so he'll be out for a while.
Alcaraz is fit again for Everton but probably won't feature tomorrow.

    SSN.

With the exception of week 15 away to United, Newcastle have great defensive fixtures till week 18. I'd recommend Santon as being a near certain starter but it might be worth taking a little gamble on Collocini, he'll almost certainly win his place back and is a great fella for bonus points but they've done well without him so nothing is guaranteed. Vlaar for Villa has good fixtures also, don't bother upgrading your defenders, none of the big boys are providing suitable returns, spend your money further up the field.

Good shout on Vlaar. Never considered him. Might just do that.

Is there any word from City on Nastasic's availability yet?

Tricky enough to call it this week.

    Went with:

    Colemon, McShane, McCauley,
    Jan, Ozil, Rambo, Yaya,
Remy (v), Suarez (c), and Aguero.

Have alternated my captain choice about three times already. I'm ranked 33,000 and I want to break 25k this week, so captain choice is integral. Granted, I'm probably due a bad week, so whoever I captain will probably get 2 points, and the V.C. will end up with 10+. >_<

I've waited until after the Internationals to make my Fonte -> Vlaar switch at a four point hit. Will be starting the Dutchman for the next four weeks while Southampton have some tough fixtures.

FFS had an interesting part in an article yesterday that Everton may switch to 3-4-3 when Alcaraz returns fully. It's the formation that Martinez played at Wigan.

    Maybe something to watch.

Nastasic seems to be fine . He played 90 mins for Serbia U21 on Tuesday.

I was going to hold off at least another week in swapping Sturridge for Suarez but his yellow flag(although I'm fairly certain he'll play) may have scuppered this, Looks like Mirallas will get a one week reprieve as he was for the chopping block this week, he scored for Belgium the other night so it mightn't be totally hopeless.
