I honestly think Townsend is just another overhyped English player. He offered nothing in Spurs' loss on Sunday. Seems very average.

I'd hazard a guess that you didn't see the full game on Sunday, it wasn't his best performance of the season but Newcastle thought enough of him to double team him whenever he was on the ball, could have had a few assists at least with better finishing. If the player who has had most shots of anyone in the league is available for 6m I think that's decent value no matter what anyone thinks of him.

What do you think of Sturridge and Ozil -> Suarez and Nasri?

for a hit of -4, (and cost of 0.2 I think)

    Team is currently

    Mig/Marshall

    Clyne, Johnson, Coleman, Koscielny, Ivanovic

    Ozil, Mirallas, Hazard, Januzai, Wittingham

    Giroud, Sturridge, Lambert

My defence is a bit too strong for my liking. Not sure who to ditch. Prob Ivanovic.

The Spurs stats are fairly extraordinary

    * Tottenham have taken 15 more shots than any other PL side this season but only Sunderland and Palace have scored fewer goals.
    * Andros Townsend has scored just once from 45 shots this season; that one goal was scored with (by his own admission) an attempted cross.
    * Christian Eriksen was credited with a massive nine key passes v Newcastle on Sunday.

Krul had the game of his life on Sunday, they should have and deserved to score at least three goals. I'm going to stick with Townsend as long as he's in the team because his price is good and the potential for points is there but their goals scored record makes it very hard to have any confidence in their other attacking players. I've had decent returns from Verthongen recently but with his big price tag he's likely to be sacrificed this week to get Suarez or Walcott in after the break.

I think they also have the most clean sheets so far. Is that right?

10 appearances and one goal and assist is the stat I'd be looking at. Brady and Morrisson are providing better returns at a better price. Brady has been unlucky with his hernia but he has more points in 590 minutes than Townsend has in 1015. Morrisson has more in 735 minutes.

In fact, if you look at midfielders priced 6.0 million or below, there are 8 midfielders above Townsend, all of whom are at least 0.5 million cheaper - the majority are about a million or so cheaper.

I haven't seen him as much as you but I certainly don't see the fuss. More English media hype for me after his display for the England national team.

And the big question I'd ask is, if the lad can't score points against the likes of Norwich, Cardiff, West Ham and Hull, why bring him in when Spurs' next six fixtures include City, United, Liverpool and Saints?

Apologies, your points are very valid. My post was in response to the one that said He offered nothing in Spurs' loss on Sunday and was very average/overhyped etc. Maybe the hype was a bit over the top after the last internationals but he's an England international on merit. And he was very definitely unlucky not to have at least one assist at the weekend, he's been unlucky not to score points quite a few times this season, keepers have made great saves, he's hit posts and crossbars. But yes I wouldn't be bringing him in with the fixtures spurs have and the way they can't score goals, I already have him and won't prioritise removing him.

Will McGregor go straight back into the Hull team when he recovers? Tempted to get Harper in but don't want to if he won't be playing at Christmas.

McGregor will go in as soon as he's fit to.

The most interesting debate gw12 will be captain pick. Looking forward to that thread.

Will very likely influence my transfer(s)

I'll have it on Aguero until somebody puts a persuasive case against it. Aguero's not afraid to score in the big games even if it is against Spurs' mean defense.

just a bit more than 48 hours after a game in uruguay is very risky even for suarez.

Remy home to Norwich. Aguero an option. Agree Suarez risky. The last few merseyside derbies have been low scoring affairs if I recall and the Uruguay angle is a problem.

This fixture last year Suarez got a goal and assist and should have had a second goal allowed:

This was my first instinct too, city are not quite the attacking force without the craft of silva though imo, puts a little bit of a dampener on it for me, considering spurs strong defence

Hmm... that's making me think again about Sturridge and Ozil -> Suarez and Nasri.....

Carrick may be out till after xmas. Phil Jones playing OOP at 5.8 worth a look?

Well he's played 90 minutes in his last 6 games but United have rough fixtures and no guarantee he won't be at CB with Vidic's concussion and Rio being somewhat broken. If you want a United defenders you could plum for Evans at 5.0 and ride out the rotation?

Yeah Evans on the watchlist. I have Faye who I doubt will get back in. Dawson with rough fixtures and 4 yellows. Toure again not sure if he will get back in. Fonte and Coleman being kept.

Mmmm, will take balls not to captain Suarez the way hes playing, and hes the sort who could get off a plane and go straight to the match and get a hat trick.

Everton haven't lost a home game this calendar year so I wouldn't have too much faith in Suarez getting much out of it.

    I'm going for Rooney.

Was looking to get a keeper in to rotate with Mignolet but am thinking now I might sell Mignolet for Szczesny and maybe get Westwood in a few weeks for Sunderland's decent home fixtures. Had originally decided to stick with one keeper for the season but now think it's better to have two options especially when the fixture list gets congested.

Mannone started the last game westwood was injured. If you are thinking of rotating keepers newcastle sunderland are perfect. Mignolet for krul and then in a few weeks whichever sunderland keeper is first choice. I may go down that route in the jan wildcard myself.

I was actually thinking about that earlier myself....great minds think alike eh? :pac:

Cheers, hadn't really considered Krul and he's £0.5m cheaper. The Sunderland gk situation should be clear by GW 15 then when Newcastle are at Old Trafford.

I saw this on totalfpl why spurs not scoring and loled. Poor Soldado.

I got Andros due to stats which are off the wall, but he is turning out to be a good example where stats do not live up to actually watching a game.

like u swiper, I will be keeping him, just because I have other more important issues with my team.

Just as a heads-up - Suarez wasn't invloved in any of the 5 goals Uruguay scored against Jordan today. I know it's not the same, but just saying.

I am thinking of Oscar and Giroud out for Suarez and Cabaye... Newcastle have 3 nice fixtures coming up, 2 of them at home. Chelsea have nice fixtures too, but he just not doing the business...

    Opinions?

Want to get Barkley out, but not entirely sure who to replace him with. At the beginning of the week I could have swapped him for Lallana in a double swap, but that particular option is gone now because they have gone in respective directions value wise. Not sure if it's still on with an alternative double.

    Team attached, any ideas?

I think he'd be an awfully frustrating player to play with. The man never passes the ball. Every time he gets it it's head down and shoot, even from impossible angles. They're not playing to Soldado's strengths anyway, but it must be doubly frustrating for him when there's one advanced midfielder in your team you can completely write off getting an assist from.
