At least Infiltration took a couple of games off him. Xian got A round, maybe; the rest of the time, the only thing he accomplished by landing hits was giving Daigo meter.

Hey guys quick question about PC version.

Is there anything in the graphics settings in particular that would make the game run a bit sluggish? I have what feels like slight input lag.

At first I though it might be my new monitor so I hooked up to my TV where I usually play on 360, but experienced the same thing.

As it stands I have everything at max.

Hey man, try turning VSYNC off in the options. I was getting mad lag until I turned it off and it became a lot smoother

    Nice one, it worked!

I was really hoping it wouldn't be the vsync; now I have a butt load of screen tear to deal with:pac: But its better than playing under water.

    This fight is absolutely incredible.

In other news, The R.A.G.E. might be having a SF2 Turbo tournament.

I'm famous(ly terrible at charging my upkicks correctly!!!).

Oh and by the way, the reason they called me a pro was because I beat 3 casual players before this vid. Pro. lol.

Fun Factoid: Since at least November 2012, AE has been consistently in the top 5 played games on the GFWL service. Dunno if this says more about the game or GFWL.

I show up at about 30 minutes into that video, representing a weak-ass Chun. Thoroughly enjoyed myself however, and Ryan Hart was a gentleman :)

Ryan gets a hard time but every time I've encountered him he's been an absolute gentleman to everyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,006 ✭✭✭Ramza

Ryan's a really cool dude, from my own experience anyway (seems to be pretty unanimous among people!).

The only time I've ever gotten a bad impression of him was from the Madcatz tweet fiasco and even then, when you read the whole story, you can see where he was coming from and he did quickly apologize. Always seemed like a nice guy and a very under-rated player to me.

    hey lads,
i have a technical question regards plinking.
does plinking reduce the startup by 1 frame?is it enough to plink to the next lighter button to get the extra frame. for instance plinking with the heavy punch, must i plink all the way to the light punch to get the extra frame.

ive been working on a combo of close light punch (+7 hit adv) to close heavy punch (+8 startup)

    would appreciate the villages wisdom.
looking forward to mexican typhooning you all sometime soon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 241 ✭✭Kanped

It basically just inputs the button twice, one frame after the other. You can plink off any lighter button, so you can plink HP off Mp (you can plink HK off any other button; you can plick off select / back, too).

This means that if you press the button a frame too soon, the next input will come out a frame later and connect.

As has been explained by Kanped, plinking simply gives you an input twice, one frame after the other.

If you need to do a 1 frame link from mp to mp (as you might with Makoto for instance) you hit mp and then mp~lp. To do mp~lp you hit mp and then immediately hit lp. So immediately, we're talking like drumming your 2 fingers one after the other.

Desk has a great tutorial here.

and you can see him doing the "finger drumming" on stick here

So to answer your original question, nothing comes out earlier or later. All it does is give you an extra frame to hit 1 frame links (essentially 2 frame links with plinking!)

Plinking doesn't add frame advantage to moves, gives 2 oppertunitys to acheive tougher inputs (2 chances for 1F link making it 2F link technically)

You can't link light into Heavy punch unless you get a counter hit, which is I think +1F light counter hit +3 M and +3 Heavy counter hit

thanks for the responses, but thats the weird thing, it does combo from light punch to heavy. you can try it yourself. ive made sure that counter hit is not on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 241 ✭✭Kanped

I can only get it to combo when counterhit is on.

i just did it again right now, it clocks 170 damage 2 hit combo, and counter hit is deffinetly not on

I think you have your terminology confused Nutrient.

You can priority-link (PLINK) a HP with a LP, in order to link (combine) them into a 2-hit combo.

    PLINK button priority is HK > HP > MK > MP > LK* > LP > Back/Select.

So HP can be PLINK'd with any button lower than it, e.g. HP ~ HP+MP or HP ~ HP+LP will trick the game into reading 2 HP inputs.

*you can only PLINK cr.LK ~ cr.LK+LP / cr.LK+Back. Standing LK~LK+LP will give you throw

so kiki are you saying that plinking does add an extra frame?

also im starting to think the frame data on shoryuken and eventhubs is just innacurate that close heavy punch and kick is inaccurate. that they are both in fact 7 frame startup and not 8

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 800 ✭✭✭The Hound

are you doing the combo on the opponents wake up as a meaty?

Maybe it does combo and the frame data is wrong or hawk got a slight buff

    My frame Data app has
    THawk
    cl.LP: 3f startup, +7f hit, +3f block
    cl.HP: 8f startup, +6f hit, +1f block
    cl.HK: 7f startup, +4f hit, +0f block

Try comboing on different characters, and on both standing & crouching characters - different hitboxes react differently and allow some weird combos (e.g. crouching Honda).

Plinking effectively adds an extra frame of input, but you still have to time your button presses right.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 25,880 Mod ✭✭✭✭Doctor DooM

    No it doesn't.

Think if it like this. If you had autofire on, 60 frames a second, it still wouldn't let you combo a move with 8 frames of start up after a move with 7 frames advantage.

All plinking does is give you one extra input, like you tapped the button 2 frames in a row.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,229 ✭✭✭Dreddybajs

Might be hitting meaty so it combos, that or the frame data you're looking at is incorrect.

Koko, plinking doesn't let you do anything in the game that you can't just do normally with good timing. It's just a little trick to try and minimise human error. If you could perfectly press every button with perfect timing, there would be no reason to bother with it.

For example: So since you can't physically press HP twice within two frames, you drum your fingers across HP, and MP.

The inputs will go into the game as: HP, HP+MP

BUT since HP+MP isn't a valid input, the game just picks whatever buttons is higher priority, which is HP in this case.

So what it ends up taking your inputs as is: HP, HP

It just means that you have two chances to hit the button on the correct frame, rather than just one.
