Practically a 30-40% discount on a 535d here compared to most countries.

All messing aside, that is an unbelievable amount of car for that money. I have one, 100,000 miles is nothing on 'em. Those Duratec 30-based AJV6 engines are hard-as-nails and properly strong.

Actually thinking about buying it if it is still there in november and declaring it off the road till I can afford to tax it!
I managed to knock a fair bit off the f350 so should be still within budget, and as it is >10yrs it qualifies for classic insurance.

Man, I am too impulsive. I think the big parking yard in front of my gaff is a detriment!

Currently dealing with these guys for classic insurance on the f350, but they advise that they cover cars over 10 yrs as a classic if you have a daily driver.

Isnt there a poster on here that has a '00 7er insured as a classic?

The backwards country that allows you to buy one of these for pennies.

Then you listen to friends, colleagues etc go on about how are you going to tax it and that itll break down because its so old and that you'd be better off buying the 132 paddy spec passat that hes paying 400 a month for:D

I quite like it the way it is at the moment. Allows me to assemble a fleet

It is, there should be however a way to insure a driver rather than a vehicle.
Ie if I own 3 vehicles that are not classics, I need three insurance policies. I want a policy with open driving, so I can drive all other cars (including ones I own). This exists in the EU mainland so why not here?

I think Admiral in the UK had a mini fleet type arrangement. Premium was based on most powerful car only charging Ax Damage, F&T on the other cars. Logic was the Insured could only drive one car at a time, yet gave the client the flexibility to drive whichever car he wished. Perhaps someone can elaborate ?

Do Rangies count as barges?? This is some price, especially as the VRT rebate is around 3500!!! EXPORT baby!

Did/do they quote for ROI business?

No , but it was quite a good concept. Don't think Irish Insurers would run with the idea, market is too small. Unfortunately it would probably be abused by Paddys for whom the product is not designed.ref elephant in the room thread:)

Yes you are correct. Was it previously advertised with a replacement engine? Perhaps I have been spending too much time on CZ or DD:D

I dont get it though. Insurers in Europe (central) do this, it is the standard practice over there.
Why has it not been adopted here! I want my fleet of cars!:D

Agree totally with you. Ideal for car enthusiasts. Unfortunately Paddy would be running a Fred in the shed and advertising on DD ! Apologies for my cynicism!

Hans won't abuse the facility, nor will Pierre , nor Dave who washes his car every Sunday! But Paddy...........he will **** it up for the genuine guys.
