Im not talking about if i exit it, if im at work or get distracted halfway through a text and just leave the phone screen go off by itself, when i wake it the text will be gone. Or if im at work and lock the screen halfway through a text to avoid being caught the message doesnt get drafted either.

If i exit out of messaging halfway through a text it will save it

using stock msg app, and I just tested it. It's still on screen when I unlock.

if it's not there, try double tap home, and select the open messenger screen, see if that brings it back up.

Just to butt in on the messaging queries.....

Is there any way to get pop up alerts from the stock messaging app? I Couldn't see a way to do it, so I'm using Sliding Messages now, but the pop up on that doesn't look right. Some of the text on the pop up over laps.

I've downloaded an app called SMS Popup, so I'll see if that works, but it would be nice if the stock app could do it.

You can't get popups on the stock app. Chomp does popups well!

Recently got this phone. Very impressed until after two days the screen stopped working. Checked on-line and it has happened before. Tried all the weird tricks to get it working again but no luck. Phone rings etc but no life in the screen. I sent it back to Vodafone. Anyone else experience this?

    Just want to say.....

I have this phone about 2 weeks now, and I'm seriously impressed with the battery. (Comparing to S3 which I had before).

Right now, after a charge yesterday evening, it has been off charge for nearly 13 hours, screen on for half an hour, and it's still at 95%. It had only dropped to 99% when I got up out of bed, so 1% drop in 8 hours? Unheard of with my old S3.

I'm getting 36 hours easily between charges, with about the same usage pattern as the S3 where I'd get 24 hours.

The power saving options that come built in are great, no messing around with Juice Defender or the like.

It seems to use way less juice while idle than the S3.

(Just mentioning all this for anyone browsing this forum who is thinking of changing to the One)

Just picked up one of these, delighted with it. I'm just wondering how likely is it to pick up scratches on the body if I go without a case most of the time? I usually only use a case when I think i'll need one so out in the pub or wherever.

So far, I like blinkfeed but the Sense Homescreen and App drawer are more than likely going to force to switch to Nova pretty soon. Trying to stick it out.

I'm with you on blinkfeed. I've been sticking with stock as much as possible. Getting on okay with it. Atom launcher would be my first choice if I was to change, but have you seen Aviate launcher? That looks great. I have an invitation code for it, but I'm liking Sense too much right now to switch.

Yeah I've a couple of problems with the stock launcher that I'm trying to ignore. One glaring one is the label for Broadsheet.ie app almost runs into the label of the app beside unless its a short name like Gmail say. Small thing but annoys me. That and the app drawer my main gripes, everything else is fine really.

I'm so used to Nova Launcher that it would take something major to make me change. I'll have a look at Atom and Aviate though thanks.

    Something about sandwiches

Did anyone keep the standard 3x4 app drawer layout? I thought it was muck and the first thinkg I did was change it to 4x5. Makes such a difference, and I dont know why HTC included it as default.

No, I changed it straight away. The vertical scrolling is really annoying as well, just can't get used to it, I keep swiping left/right.

I'm due an upgrade from my iPhone 4S. I'll either be getting the HTC one or the iPhone 5s. Please advise.

If you're tired of being called an iPhone w@nker get the HTC one.... If, on the other hand, you're shallow & insecure about your penis size, get the iPhone!

    I am joking btw!:)

I was going to switch from my S3 to HTC One or the 5s, I was underwhelmed by the 5s and didn't really fancy waiting for it to become available. Delighted with the One. IMO its a nicer looking phone than the 5/5s which I would have seen as the nicest design wise.

Why not try play around with the iOS7 on the 4s and see if you like it? A lot of people moaning about it at the moment, then compare to the Sense UI in store?

Both are great phones so you can't really go wrong in all honesty, its just personal preference.

Personal choice is such a big thing in this decision.

How long have you had the iPhone? The reason I ask is that in a good few cases I've seen people just get bored with the UI. That happened to me, after the 3GS and the 4. I just wanted a change. So I went with the S3 back in June of last year.

Upgraded from the S3 to the One a couple of weeks ago, and it seems like a great phone so far. Lovely screen, great sound and decent battery life.

iOS7 has taken some cues from Android, and arguably its all the better for it. BUT....I would find it hard to leave android now. If for no other reason, you can customise and do so much more with android compared to iOS. Simple example...swap the keyboard for something like SwiftKey and you will just laugh at how ridiculously slow and old fashioned the iOS keyboard is for typing.

I updated my iPad to iOS 7 last night, and yeah, it look better, but its still very restricted in terms of changes you can make yourself to improve it.

I've no intention of changing the ROM or anything, just switching to a different launcher. I don't want to lose BlinkFeed or the HTC Widgets though so I'm going to stick it out for another while at least.

Happened to me once on a HTC Desire HD and I did a factory reset (using external buttons) which fixed it

I ordered the phone last night and I used "Chat10" discount so €179 in total, so I should have it early next week but can't port over until the 3rd Oct.....:'(

I'm having a bit of a dumb moment as I cannot find that setting in the menu. Could anybody point me in the correct direction, please?

Open the app drawer, pull down slightly to reveal the context menu, press the... and then grid size

Shamefully, I had the exact same problem.
The worst part is that I set the phone up for customers in the past on numerous occasions, but when it came to finally setting up my own One after weeks of waiting, I couldn't remember how to do it.

Try to get one from Meteor - these are unbranded and very likely without the simlock (my desireHD came without one). Would have to check One, but have no spare sim card...
