Steady(ish) but unspectacular round today, great conditions while my playing partner and I got round in 2 hours 50 minutes, magically stuff from that respect.

    35 points off 8.

    2 birdies
    7 pars
    7 bogeys
    2 doubles

One of the doubles I was right up against the back lip of a bunker, it was basically unplayable and I was lucky to get it out in two. Pissed me off royally but shouldn't have been there in the first place!

Club champs 36 holes next week bring it on!

30pts off society HC of 10. Just had a look at the stats for the round. Don't make good reading.
Only 3 fairway hit and only 2 greens hit as well. Course management went out the window as I tried to muscle my way around. I have to figure out why I'm pulling all my irons! Its causing a lot of problems.

Said yesterday I four-putted from 20 ft on the way to a +4 gross round in our medal ... well I lost on a count back. Serves me right. No round with a four putt should ever be rewarded with a win!!!!

Did that qualify for the matchplay?

yeah but not all 78's made it in, they had a count back on the back 9, lucky for me i shoot 37 on the back to get in

My best game this summer the other day.

I've played 10 rounds this summer which resulted in

    6 x .1 back
    3 buffer
    1 x 36 points

Wasn't confident going out the other day in Killeen. After 5 holes of hitting it pretty well I was 6 over.
Finished with a 77 and 5 over for 37 points which included 4 birdies in a 9 hole stretch.

    Very happy walking off.

Unfortunately I won't be playing for a couple of weeks again so hard to make progress or get consistency.

67 Gross in Open Singles in Kilcock which won the competition. 13 Pars and 5 birdies for a nice cut

Absolute shocker yesterday. 99 strokes off 16 for an 83. Included a 13 at the par 5 6th hole and not one of those 13 strokes was a penalty :( My worst ever single hole in a qualifying competition.

Also managed an 8 on the last. It was a real shame as I managed to steady the ship and actually played quite well once I got over the shock of the 6th (+5 from the 9th to the 17th).

Need to get back to the range to sort this out...

my stats for the round in Thurles on Saturday:

    2 birdies
    5 pars
    3 bogies
    6 doubles
1 very silly scratch (on a par 3)
    hit 43% of fairways
    47% of GIR
    35 damm putts!

Very happy with my last 2 rounds.

Was cut to 9 after yesterdays round..and cut another shot on observation of good form. ( realised this after todays round ).

Another 77 gross from the back stakes, this time off 8. So 69 nett. Absolutely chuffed with this weekends work.

Two 77's and cut two shots :D

Further handicapp adjustment from this round, I've been cut to 7

Three shots in two rounds, holy ****....I'm scared :O

Had a great day in esker today with yayabanana and levitronix, apart from the rain and the wind and the fact that we were the only people who played so there was no competition.

But apart from that we had a great day :) loads of birdies!!!

Did ye meet the quota of 10 birdies that ssbob set for ye?

41 points in Tuam playing off 18.

    7 pars
    9 bogies
    2 double bogies

    85 strokes. PB.

Swing changes starting to click. Putting in a lot of practice. Felt it was only a matter of time. Roll on Saturday.

Was it a quota ? I thought it was more of target!

    Shot of the day ::

Levitronix Drove the par 4 10th hole(300 yards, all carry over water) and had he made his eagle, i think we would have beaten it, but sadly, I think we only managed to match the target :)

Played Carton House O'Meara course yesterday for first time, in atrocious rain in a fourball friendly round

Started okayish, then 3 scratches on front nine for 13 pts but then had great back nine with 24 points (HC 21), crazy weather but fabulous course (14,15 and 16 absolutely fantastic holes).

Played Killeen Castle this morning. Got there early enough to hit some balls in the range and to hit plenty of putts. Got off to a great start chipping in on the first and played pretty solid turning in level par. Played he next 3 in level par and had a horror on 13 making double which was backed up with bogey at 14. Out of nowhere I had to try hang on to play to the handicap instead of looking at going under par. Made a 3 stab bogey on 16 and went swimming off 17 and made double. With a pitching wedge in hand on 18 I flew it over the back and didn't get it up and down and made double :( I walked off so frustrated at what my score could have been. The greens were excellent great speed and really hard to hole anything if the pace isnt on. The course was as always top class and is by far and away the best conditions I played in this year. 79 Gross :(

We booked it on golfnow.ie and payed €23 each (for 3) so the price was well worth it though. The bar and restaurant staff left a lot to be desired though as the whole thing felt very unprofessional and not what one expects when you go to a premium golf facility like Killeen Castle.

    All in all 9/10

medal last weekend. CSS 73, Net 73. Another top 10 in a medal, another round where I hit the buffer without playing well and leave a bundle of shots out there. Another opportunity missed for a meaningful cut.

    5 pars, 5 bogies, 8 others...
4 fir, 4 gir, 32 putts (actually, that must be the best all year, but includes one chip in)

    5 penalties.

It's strange though, I'm enjoying the medals. Stroke play, off the back sticks, and it's the one suggestion of consistency this year.

I shot 104 today. Off 10 in Druids heath for the ISC

    Yes, 104. Not a typo but 104.

Do I need to say it again? 104

    It went like this... 8, 8, 4, 8, 7, 4, 5, 5, 4, 7, 6, 6, 5, 5, 7, 5, 4, 4

Gutted, didn't really get my ruthenium going at all today and actually really upset about it!!

We all have them days. Don't get too disheartened about it. I had few of them in a row couple of weeks ago and was thinking of taking a week or 2 off. I didn't though ans played some of my best golf since.

I shot a 103 last year, was off 15 at the time. Was extremely frustrating so I know your pain.

The one thing I will say is that it was the last of my bad golf that year & was all positive from that round on.
