played nicely and holed out well to keep things ticking over.
sit back & watch the bandits post their mad scores now :)

god forbid anyone might put a round together on the off chance they have a good day at the office.

Hit 30 points one scratch in Mitchelstown this morning. 7 1 pointers so scored well enough on the other 10. Dopey flag on the 6th, ended up 4 putting from the high for a scratch!!

eh? not a personal insult unless you choose to take it that way.

the norm in our place is that therell be a batch of mid-low 60s from players 'miraculously' showing form. i dont really care tbh...

    Back to normal today!

31 points off 10 in Druids heath!

On that card there was 3 scratches and 5 one pointers so basically left 11 points out there.

I got severely punished by backspin a lot today off the wedges.

The two worst were the 8th hole, pitched to 4 feet, 20 ft backspin and 17, pitched to 8 feet and spun pack 30 feet.

Got it right on 14, pitched 15 feet passed the hole and spun back to pin high.

Putting was good again today, really getting the weight right but not many dropping.

Chipping was also very good and got quite a few up and downs.

Ball striking wasn't amazing but I haven't played all week so I'm not too concerned.

Inter scratch and medal next week so hoping I'm putting myself in good shape for them both!

Another 'almost' round. 76 (+4) off 7 for nett 69 in Monthly medal. Played really satisfying, tidy golf for the most part. Two doubles on the index 1 and 6 when I had nailed my drives on both was disappointing to say the least. The double on the index 1 was very aggravating ... Good drive and then I hit the approach over water to 15-20 feet ... then proceeded to four putt! Aaargh! Still, should get me back to 6 after a month or more of very inconsistent golf sending me out to 7.

I was going to call this round the good the bad and the ugly but it was much better than that.

    4 birdies
    7 pars
    5 bogeys
    2 scratches

37 points off 8. Two scratches were disappointing but I had a bird on the last to finish which was pleasing.

Nightmare for me today, hit 4 balls OB on the first, then played the next 17 holes in +1:mad:

Hit a little push that bounced off the back of a bunker that went OB on ball one(very bad luck), then got suckered in and hit another 2 right OB , finally hit one up left rough blocked out a bit by a tree tried to hit a hook that didn't hook, 4 balls OB on hole.

73 Nett off 14 in the Captain's Qualifier today in Coollattin. Much the same story as last week in that I played well on the front 9 (+4) and not so well on the back 9, though I did lose 2 balls, one of which led to an 8. I think it's to do with physical and/or mental tiredness. If anyone has had such experience, do tell me.

Happy to have finished with 2 pars and only taking ~30 putts. Disappointed with losing my swing a little on the back 9 though.

It should be good enough for me to return next week for the second day which is something to be happy with I suppose.

    I didn't, not at all.

Just annoyed at the assumption that any good score posted would come from a bandit.
That's not to say it wouldn't though:)

    And savage shooting btw!

Great scoring there Mag. It will be disgraceful if you don't at least place with that score given that the course was probably set up tough as it was captains.

38 points in the society today.
Was a short course but happy enough with how I played (bar 2 viscious snap hooks with the driver which cost me 2 balls!)
    29 putts (with a stupid 3 putt!)
    67% FIR
    41% GIR
    2 lost balls

    1 birdie
    12 pars
    3 bogeys
    2 doubles :(

    Lovely day out!

Started with a "sixtuple" bogey the other day. Finished 7 over. A nett score of -2. Was happy enough considering the first hole :P Had 2 birdies, 14 pars, 1 triple bogey (10th hole), and a "sixtuple bogey" :( was playing great apart from 2 holes :(

About time! I've only played 3 competitions this year because I've only been playing 12 hole rounds and been playing to about 18 handicap. Only began played some what decent in the last 3 weeks and have had 36 pts, 37 pts and that gave me 43 pts but only 70 Nett (Stroke comp)

your handicap is effectively calculated via stableford (clause 19 adjustment moves anything worse than nett double back to nett double) so you should have been well cut for the 43 points?

Should be off 7.8 so :D Assuming I get the 1.4 cut if standard scratch is 36pts :)

just back from shooting 100 on a par 72.

    round consited of:
    6 pars
    1 birdie
    4 bogeys
and you can guess the rest :)

obviously i need to be striking the ball better but some of the crazy numbers i put up were 'shots to nothing' kind of things, stuff that you wouldnt normally do if indeed the round was to be half decent....still though +29 for 11 holes (or +25 for 7 holes)....that could be a record!

78 Gross today in the monthly medal, finished second ( 68 nett)

An amazing start birdieing the two first holes. Played the two front 9 par 5's poorly, a 7 and an 8. Finishing the front 9 in +5. Felt I could put something together, was hitting the ball really well but most importantly my putter felt hot.

Par'd 10,11,12 and then a lovely birdie on 13, followed by two more pars. A slack bogey on 16 was slightly annoying, but a great up n down on 17 from a bunker put me back in good momentum. Unfortunately a difficult 3 putt on the last putt me to a +1 back nine, but was a brilliant score considering the +5 front nine.

Also cutt now down to 9, which means I've hit this years goals which was multiple rounds in with 70's and back to single figures, boom!

91 shots gross off 19 (72 nett) off the blue tees in the monthly medal at Ballykisteen today. My driver has been giving me problems for the last 6 weeks or so but it finally seems to be sorting itself out. Had a birdie 2 on the 3rd to join the 2s club also. :P

    The planets are aligned.

Was cut to 9 after yesterdays round..and cut another shot on observation of good form. ( realised this after todays round ).

Another 77 gross from the back stakes, this time off 8. So 69 nett. Absolutely chuffed with this weekends work.

Two 77's and cut two shots :D

0.1 for me after yesterdays work!

6 down in a v-par. Probably the worst golf I've played this year, but still managed to shoot 88 strokes which I'm taking as a positive.

    The highs:
    2 good birdies
Chipped better on the back 9 after being short with a number off them in the front.
Struck the new 3 wood fairly well overall

    The lows:
Found 8 bunkers, only one of which I played a decent shot out of.
    Short irons were off target
    Driver was erratic.
Missed a couple of short putts that I'd been making with ease the last few weeks.

So, while it was a bad days golfing, I can take some small encouragement from it.

Presidents next weekend, hopefully will see an improvement!

Good work TheDoc. I lost a shot shooting 76 gross despite a triple bogey. Back to single figures after brief spell at 10. Looking at 7 or 8 be end of season.

My putting has been woeful this year and has been killing my scores. I took the putter indoors and practiced a bit on the carpet towards the end of the week. Paid off. I had 7 one putts on the front 9. But as expected the rest of my game went to pot!!:). Turned 1 behind level 2's. Made a bollocks of 13, 14, 15, 16 & 17 but a tidy Drive & GW on 18 left me an 8 foot Birdie putt but wasn't to be. Roundabout 30pts. Bit of practice on the range, keep the putting practice at home and Ill be there or thereabouts. Only my 2nd game in a month, want to get out once per week for the next month and stop the slide. 9.4 now after starting at 8.0. Hopefully will be a brief stay at double figures. Would like to finish year back at singles.

83 in Gowran Park today off 13.

    FIR: 9/13
    GIR: 8/18
    Putts: 34

    3 birdies
    4 pars
    7 bogies
    4 doubles :(

Delighted with how the new driver behaved. Was in play off every tee today which is a massive change for me. Had 3 birdies but missed 2 more from inside 10 feet. Need to eliminate the sloppy doubles and there's a score to be had....

    Hopefully I've stopped the rot.
2 Down in VPar comp today in Grange Castle. (34 points)
2 down after 9 and came in level.

Glad to be back in the buffer after months of 0.1's.
Didn't really play great, just kept the ball in play more than usual.
Putting was poor, there was a cut to be had out there. Disappointed with the holes I lost on, normally good ones for me. Also left a few quid out there with a missed 2 footer for a 2!!!! Shocking putt.

Butt considering the last two nights I've had, I'll happily take the buffer and try to drive on. There's been a steady improvement in the last month.

Thank god for the golf tonight. Hoping it will be a fear buster.
