I've Championc image, I have to upload my epg every day it defaults back to original guide, can't see anything in settings. Any idea what to change to keep my epg.

Has anyone got a copy of championc's image with autotimer working that they could send me? I followed his instructions on which one to install but I just keep getting green screens when I go to use it.

Its the autoBouquet plugin, it updates by default at 4am everyday, keeps all channels in the same order as sky and if there is any frequency changes it takes care of them too. What you can do is organise your favorites in the last bouquet on the epg. Then it'll update but leave your favourites alone. Championc already has his favs in there so you can edit them if you want.

I'll try and take a new copy of my Image over the weekend :)

The update to Crossepg in firmware .68 is really starting to make Spark very usable now.

Not at all, loads up instantly and is smooth to navigate.

Trying to find CrossEPG 0.68 for Spark online - no luck yet. Well hidden?

It's built into Spark, just press the EPG button then F1 to configure it, its the exact same as the E2 version.

The .68 was referring to latest Spark firmware update, 1.2.68.

Not really no, Telnet and FTP are the main ways. FTP is a very easy and quick way, are you having problems with it?

yea just ive never used ftp before ive I haven't set up any network at home yet either I'm just currently using wireless broadband modem. ive gone as far as downloading filezilla:(

I updated Spark to .68 and ran CrossEPG but I still find there is a fair few channels that still only show the 'Now' and 'Next' listings for the channel.

Its strange. For instance ITV shows all the listings for the next 7 days but ITV2 doesnt. Same with some of the BBC stations. Its very hit and miss.

If you are still getting 'no info' on channels you need to perform a factory reset on the box and delete any CrossEPG data from your USB stick or hard drive.

When you configure CrossEPG again and download it, it will populate nearly every channel.

Thanks for that. Maybe I have the CrossEPG configured incorrectly. I will check out what settings I have it at and then do a reset if needs be.

I think you will have to do a factory reset anyway, that seems to get CrossEPG going if it doesn't work straight away. Make sure to back up your channel list as you will lose that during the reset and any plugins too.

I am in the same boat as you - had the alien delivered last tuesday - I have gone from opening the box to getting the Autobouquets FTP'ed last night ( although its not working great ) Can't seem to navigate to the autobouquets folders eg "sports" or "entertainment" - Running the latest version of HDMU. I'll get there eventually - tonight its time to get to know the autobouquets better and download crossepg , picons and maybe a few more plugins - frustrating at times but rewarding when you get the hang of something. A sincere thanks to anyone who has posted help here or on the firmware thread. It is much appreciated.

The following is a good "CIG" - complete Idiots guide - to FTP ing to your alien. You need your laptop and alien connected to the internet before you can start - good luck.

Is this a terrestial scan you're doing? If so you need to change to frequency from 6mhz to 8mhz

Just a quick update re the HD Juddering. While we have all been experiencing it on SkySports HD channels, I just copped that I watched a good bit of BT Sport HD without issue. I recorded the whole of UFC163 last night and it was perfect all the way through.

    Currently looking at getting one of these boxes, a few questions (currently > 2000 posts on this thread - would appreciate some feedback!!);

    - when setting up the box initially, is it relatively straight forward?
    - which image is most stable (or recommended), first impressions are Enigma2 is favoured over Spark, then lately there's a lot of talk about Hyperion?
    - advantages/disadvantages of the images above?
    - is there much support going forward?
    - any advantage of purchasing the Amiko keyboard & Amiko wifi dongle?

    Thanks.

Not easy but there are some good images out there with all the plugins you would want already included. If you use one of these images it'll be alot easier

Championc has an image that alot of us in the thread are using. Very stable and has almost all the plugins you'd need included
    - advantages/disadvantages of the images above? Spark still isn't on a par with enigma2 so you'd be better off loading on a good enigma2 image
    - is there much support going forward? Loads. This thread has helped me with any problems/questions I've had. Theres also fairly regular updates to images so things can only improve.
    - any advantage of purchasing the Amiko keyboard & Amiko wifi dongle?
I don't see the point in buying a keyboard myself. I don't think i'd use it all that much. The wifi dongle would be handy if your box is not near your router but wired connections are always best. Also I could be wrong but I think I read somewhere that the dongles only work in spark and not with enigma2

    Thanks.

Using Home Plugs for my GM Triplex which are a bit slow for the 1Channel plugin as it is constantly buffering. Is it possible to download first and then play on the box?

    Thanks TheTechGuy.

Where have you guys bought the Amiko box? I've read that there are clones about.

Think most people bought them from satworld.ie, I bought mine from adverts.

There are clones of the Alien 1 but not the Alien 2/Golden Media Triplex so you are safe.

    Thanks folks.

One final issue - the latest issue with HD juddering, is it only Sky channels affected or are other HD channels affected? I've ditched Sky, so if it's only Sky it shouldn't affect me.

My box is working using a wifi dongle & O2 broadband. I haven't had any issues using enigma2.

The only thing is the freezinng picture on the SKY SD & HD channels. FTA channels are fine so no legitimate complaints really.

Only on some non-FTA HD channels and only on the Enigma2 side, the officially supported Spark side is fine.
