And the 'pillar banks' assisted by their cronies in the state nobbled An Post too. We couldn't possibly have any other competitor, even one which hadn't conducted itself recklessly like the banks, vying as custodians of the savings of ordinary people via better interest rates, said the pillar banks.

Oh no we couldn't have that ....... that would be unfair, and not in the rules as far as normal competition is concerned.

I read a comment on Irish central, That Cowen has a block of flat in Leeds funded by loans from Anglo Bank.
1 Is this true and commonly known? or is it more internet bull?
2 if true, is there a major conflict of interest here?
3 If true, it would be hard to believe Seanie didn't mention the bank was going bust when they where playing golf....

or how many people bought Jeeps/Suvs for 70/80k just to show off?

Based on the lack of evidence, I'd say the same number of people who bought Apache gunships to show off.

Seriously, where are you pulling your figures from?

Now you're starting to get the picture. I naively thought that when the troika arrived that this would stop. More fool me.

we have allowed ourselves be fcuked over so unless you march on the streets at some stage expect things to just keep getting worse, how much evidence do we need before we say enough?

we have allowed all this ****, the post bank and everything else by not saying no to government and when they try to ignore us we make it so they can't ignore us. doing nothing won't fix anything

we serfs have no right to challenge government, remember sam halls case against the illegal promisery notes? remember the government showed that the irish people have no right to challenge government or it's decisions, only dail members can do it,

we need action, not signatures ffs!! imagine the headlines if Egyptians had of been so lazy overt the last few weeks

THE MOST AMOUNT OF SIGNATURES IN HUMAN HISTORY WERE RECEIVED TODAY BY THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD WHO JUST IGNORED THEM ALL

    or

Largest gathering of people in human history has just taken place.

We need people, not signatures, if we got 4,500,000 signatures people would be saying we need marches, lets stop trying to come up with new ideas and going round and round in circles while doing nothing and lets just make one decision to go march

freezin my bollock$ off for 4 winters and now it's summer and roasting i'm feeling the pinch cos of these tapes and the ensuing austerity even more now, it's a damn sight easier to throw on extra layers and warm up in winter than it is to cool down in summer when you're broke and gots no job prospects!!

okay, so….what’s next? do we rise up and burn the nation to the ground? crucify the banksters and anyone involved upside down with their balls in their mouths? any volunteers to do the dirty work and willing to do time for it or get executed? seriously, what should be done…realistically like?! just what? goddammit…or do we just fold and die...?!

if we done something it would be a great start, politicians and their associates/partners are laughing all the way until we do rise up and say no more, it's sick how much this country lets the, away with everything without any real accountability

i attended marches over the last 5 years but unless everyone else joins in they're impotent

i wish i hadn't decided i had enough years before everyone else!!

Exactly. Signatures are just a waste of time.

Marches are where its at. The surefire way to solve the national debt issue, clean up our banking system, reduce public service wastage, make our politicians honest, reduce unemployment, reduce inequality, and eliminate poverty. And probably a few other things as well.

So if we could all just get of our arses and march. And keep marching. Before too long, prbably an hour or two, all the above would be fixed and we could start living blissful lives.

I have an idea for a protest + it doesn't involve getting up off our arses. How about granting ourselves a bank holiday every month? It would have to be done nationally + all + every one gets involved + plenty of time + notice given for it.

We missed the boat with July + we have a bank holiday in August. So lets start it for September. First monday - grant ourselves a bank holiday. Another in October, then November, December, Jan, Feb, March, April, we have one in May & June, then another for July.

I'm just catching up on the weekly news now. The sun had me shattered.
In case there was ever any doubt that the government(s) couldn't give a toss about the average citizen...

Credit unions the only Anglo bondholders the Government has faced down

On this, I think this is very sickening. The new government when running for election said not a penny more to the banks or bondholders and then when gaining office they turned around and continued to pay the remaining bondholders and going from that newspaper piece picking and choosing what bondholders to pay back. They swore blind bondholders must be payed back. Yet the credit unions which was a bondholder was burned.

An arguement and a reasoning that I read many times on forums for the governments decision to continue paying bondholders is that more than likely those bondholders could be me and you in the form of peoples life savings and maybe pension funds. Cock! What were the credit unions but just that. I'm sure many people probably had their savings in the credit union and the credit unions were burnt.
