Very clever coding there. It's a miracle she got it working at all on such a dreadful processor. It's based on the C64 processor which was always terrible at vector calculations used for polygons.

Just read this about the Another World Snes release (listed as part of a beta version on ebay right now), pretty interesting stuff.

The history behind this game is very interesting. It was programmed by the extremely-talented Rebecca Heineman, who was once Bill "Burger" Heineman, one of Interplay's founding programmers. She said that "since Interplay wouldn't pay for a Super FX chip, I found a way to do it with static RAM on the cart and DMA which got me a great frame rate. Interplay wouldn't pay for the static RAM either, so I ended up using Fast ROM instruction. Interplay wouldn't pay for a 3.6 Mhz ROM either. So, frustrated, I shoved my block move code into the DMA registers and used it as RAM running at 3.6 Mhz. It worked. I got fast block moves on slow cartridges and made a game using polygons working on a 65816 processor with pure software rendering."

Ya, apparently Interplay wouldn't let her have a penis either.

    Clever programmer though :)

In November 2003, she was diagnosed with gender identity disorder[4] and began transitioning to a woman.[5]

    Seems so!

I was wondering there myself. I mean, a decent female coder, come on!!! :D

    I'm joking of course.

Is that anything to do with the penis talk above? I don't think ChoAniki is on the 3DS yet...

What's weird is your not thinking of getting a 3DS to play Fire Emblem and then just throwing the system away once you finish it.

Animal Crossing is out on 3DS now too... struggle to stop playing the damn thing!
Must see if I can get my hands on the Gamecube one again, was great having a bunch of NES games build in to it too!

Yep, animal crossing is a must buy for the 3DS. I also need to get the gamecube version. I have a Jap copy of it but I'd like to get the English one too, along with the Japanese N64 version.

    paypal doesn't suck.

If anyone recalls, I was on here recently jawing on about a chargeback from a buyer of mine even though it was all above board.
Will just got a message from paypal saying that despite the chargeback being issued, that they will cover the funds for me because I followed protocol and provided any info they wanted.
I only gave them the tracking code and gave up when An Post couldn't give me anything to say what address it was posted to, only the signature.
So the moral is An Post are useless and Paypal aren't so bad in fairness.

    Glad to hear it!

So maybe in the email I got, the bit about 'if the seller doesn't have the funds' was more in relation to them being punished for their actions rather than me not getting my money back (as the first paragraph said the refund was on the way to me)

Will keep an eye on my credit card balance and see.

Animal Crossing is evil. I have a suspicion that atavan is moving in on my woman and using Animal Crossing to do it.

I reckon you'll get it back and they will cover it.
Who said big multinational companies are bad eh? Amalgamate them all.

I'm thinking arrangements could be made....

Very interesting thread over on HG101:

    http://hg101.proboards.com/thread/10474/sony-sega-joint-game-console

apparently Sega US organised a joint 32-bit console development with Sony. Sega Japan turned them down. They also arranged to use a SGI chipset in the saturn that was more powerful and cheaper to manufacture. Sega Japan shot it down and the chipset ended up in the N64.

Guess it's to accommodate that touch pad.

Has anything been show about how that thing is going to work? I didn't think the touch panel on the Vita proved terribly popular (relative to the Vita's popularity)

You will never pause a game ever again, YOU WILL PLAY IT TO THE END.

Although there's a nice idea... wouldn't it be cool if a games console had a 'hibernate' feature where it just saved the running game to RAM and then resumed to that point when you powered it on again?

Are you listening NSA Microsoft / Sony?
