Is there a way to install E2 boot upgrade from USB?

You can get AMIKO_ALIEN2_1.2.51_E2_Boot_Upgrade.rar from the Satstation forum and install it by USB also. I'm not sure if you needed to do a Factory reset. I had upgraded to 1.2.65 by USB and was able to get into Spark Online again but the only Spark firmware they had available to install was 1.2.64 and 1.2.65.

Spark 1.2.52 makes the dual booting into Spark/Enigma safer somehow. Without it Alien2 could get stuck on boot up.

What is I don't understand is: why does Pog's guide downgrade first to 1.2.52 first? Does that improve stability or something?

That version includes the E2 Upgrade plugin in order to allow you to install Enigma from within Spark

Have you ftp'd into that directory to make sure that the file is in fact present there?

You need to be viewing 28.2 channel before you run the scan. So for example tune in to Channel 4, then launch the Autobouquets plugin.

I had the same error, and this method fixed it.

Stupid question - how do you delete old recordings with remote?
My Mac won't mount ext disks.

    Thanks

No such thing as a stupid question, unless you're a politician.

Have you downloaded iDreamX yet? Makes configuring a tad easier, you can see the recording on the box and delete form within the program. No mounting shenanigans required.

hi guys, what are you all using to connect to network share, i have hdd connected to home network, i tried HDMU media player could not find where i input source? then got a pink restart screen?

    TIA

It's under network settings, add a mount point first. I find it easier to add one, then manually edit the auto.network file located at etc/

So I added a simple share first, then opened this file, altered the info as needed and restarted the box.

    My one looks like...

What plugin do you install in order to use a NAS ? It's just that I don't see the file auto.network in the /etc/ directory. I don't have a NAS ....... yet !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 112 ✭✭hibernian56

You don't install a plugin, you add a network mount. They are either going to be CIFS or NFS, I have a ReadyNas NV+, which is divided up into what are known as shares.

When setting this up, you just make shares (which are a kind of folder, with access privileges) and mount each one accordingly.

    You don't really need a NAS, you can in theory mount ANY folder on the network, for example if you had a public share folder on your PC or Mac, you can get the box to mount it like this;

    Share Name:
SATBOX (This is the name used to identify the share in the box)
    Share type:
CIFS (a lot of file systems use this, its samba friendly)
    Username & Password:
(Fairly obvious, if you set up a public folder on your PC, this is the login details to allow access.)
    Path:
The IP address of the shared folder in the following format...
    //192.168.xxx.xxx/Username/Foldername

The last bit gets a bit tricky depending on your file system, Windows, Linux or OSX.

Just google "network file sharing" for more info.

If you are looking for a NAS, there are some great boxes out there, the latest version of ReadyNAS look good, but some offer the ability to do your own cloud storage and web hosting and can take 4 x 3 or 4Gb drives. My next upgrade will be for a newer 4 drive unit, the old one will be retired as a remote backup. Its a noisy little beast.

I'm using hdmu image, whenever I start my network share, as in access my videos through hdmu media player I get the pink restart screen,
Once rebooted I restart network and then it works fine, I can access all my media.

Any one else have a similar issue?

What is the difference between HDMU & AR-P? Anyone have experience of both?

HDMU seems fairly stable (at least compared to that pile of dog poo Spark)

@championc I might image my box on Saturday and try AR-P, got any links for screen shots? I have heard of google, but you might have something a little more direct.

Nothing is visible. All versions can run the same plugins & skins. HDMU is built around Python 2.6 while AR-P is on 2.7. I think AR-P is more stable and development seems to be better. Certainly HDMU was very laggy on Terrestrial channels and OSCam ones kept locking up.

Excellent news. Thats all that was missing from this image to be near perfect (for me anyway). I have been using AR-P for a couple of months now and its been rock solid (Thank you championc).
Is there much fiddling around to be done to get Autotimer working ?

The IPK from here worked - http://feed.newnigma2.to/unstable/4.0/mips32el/

    mips32el = oe2.0 = Python 2.7 = AR-P

So I now have my box working with AutoTimer, AutoVolumeAdjustment, AutoBoquets, CrossEPG, CoolTVGuide, Various Skins, OSCam, both OpenWebIf and WebInterface, SambaServer and obviously 3Player and RTEPlayer. Am I missing anything ???

1channel, permanenttimeshift & sportmax (iptv) plugins also working well.

Do OpenWebIf and WebInterface allow you to Stream? Can you watch one channel say on the TV and stream another on your computer at the same time?

Do you have permanent time shift workin as well? Just realised it wasn't working there when the Missus asked me to rewind something.! She wasn't happy when I couldn't!!

Same here with the autotimer plugin.
Permanent time shift is working for me. I installed it from the Image plugins.

Both allow streaming but I have only managed to stream sat and watch terr or vise versa. But at least you can use your choice of web interface.

I'll make a backup when I get home later tonight and email a link to you. Sounds like I have installed something else which AutoTimer was dependent on.

Can you be a bit more specific.
Spark or Enigma ? Which Image ? satellite or terrestrial tuner ?

Tried update with usb but get an error, tried with verbatim stick and an external HDD and both failed so it really has to be Kingston, yea?

Was gonna use a Vonet wifi bridge but it won't pick up hotspot from my phone (just moved), thought it would, gonna have to sort out some midband yokey and a router as the vonet gets hot.

I find Updating through Spark is compatible with more brands of usb sticks, have used verbatim, freecom & fusion brands successfully.

Better off upgrading via the Spark E2 plugin. You can store the image on anything using this method.

enigma, latest satstation image and terrestrial tuner box is a 2+

@ Championc: Don't suppose that I could try your image out too? At present I'm running HDMU 10881 which has a tendency to freeze from time to time requiring a hard reboot.

Never used a Satstation image, but in tuner configuration make sure Tuner C is set to DVB T and select europe as the area, then scan for channels.
