enigma, latest satstation image and terrestrial tuner box is a 2+
I have only used the Yoda "April backup" of satstation and I failed to get the terrestrial stations (saorview) up (I didn't try for very long), the satellite ones were "pretuned" as it was a backup.
try the backup, otherwise the HDMU in Pogs guide (where is he gone?) or AR-P.

A number of us had trouble getting the terrestrial channels tuned and found that setting to "Italy" and bandwidth to 8mhz worked in HDMU.

Other things to check are if your Ariel is set up correctly (pointing where it should be and the coax is in good condition) - if you have a Saorview TV or stb you could check that they are getting the signal.
You could also see if spark can see the terrestrial channels

the aerial and signal is ok as my other freeview hd box has no issues, this is thing im new to this box it was setup for me it has hdmu on it how can i search for channels via it, also how do i switch to spark? sorry stupid questions but total noob

Looks like I installed one plugin too many - box freezing all over the place so reverting backwards and will just add Samba and AutoTimer. Might get time late tonight when tv is freed up.

To switch to spark toggle the on/off switch at the back of the box while pressing and holding the "ok" button on the front of the box until enig comes up on the display, then press the up button and spark will be displayed then the ok button again and it will boot - that reads more complex than it is!

in HDMU press menu- setup -service searching, set Tuner configuration as per Pogs guide and try automatic scan
As I mentioned earlier I used Italy and set the bandwidth (in Manual scan) to 8mhz to get it to work

Can anyone point me in the right direction for the latest Open Ar image? I'm on HDMU for the last few months but I'm having an issue where tuner C isn't picking up channels on V polarisation. Its very annoying when recoding something and only having H polarised channels available!

Latest AR-P firmware is available from here.
Plugins for AR-P Enigma2 images available from here.

Did this just start happening recently? Maybe you changed something in the Tuner configuration menu? Channels only being available on one polarization can happen when a splitter is attached to the feed coming from a satellite dish which is seemingly a big no no.

If you are using a single feed or it is set to "loop-through" then you can only watch the same polarity and band when recording.

    Cheers for the links flex.
Its being like that since the start. I was originally using just tuner B but then ran a new feed from the lnb last month. So I have no splitters, just two direct feeds from the dish. I swapped the cables around and that didn't help but it did rule out problems with the cables and dish as tuner B picks up all channels with either cable plugged in. I also disabled tuner B and just had C configured and still it wont pick up the V polarisation channels (getting the 'Tune Failed' error message by the way).
I also flashed the latest HDMU image and still no luck, hence going to try Open AR to see if that solves it!

It should work for you in HDMU tho. I wrote down how I set mine up as a reference (head like a sieve).. here's how I set mine up on HDMU...

If you are connecting the Alien2 to ONE UHF cable for Terrestrial channels and TWO satellite cables from a dish and only want to tune in free to air channels then this is how you set up the tuners in HDMU. Tuner A = UHF aerial. Tuner B and C = Satellite Cables.

Menu > Setup > Service Searching > Tuner configuration.

    Tuner A:
    Configuration Mode: enabled
Terrestrial provider: Europe, Middle East, Africa DVB-T frequencies
Enable 5V for active antenna: off

    Tuner B:
    Configuration Mode: simple
    Mode: single
    Satellite: Astra 1N/2A/2F/Eutelsat 28A (28.2E)
    Send DiSQqC: no

    Tuner C:
    Configuration Mode: not configured

    Regarding where to put satellites.xml:
Get an updated satellite.xml file with the 28.2E transponder information It seems that you can put it into either /etc/tuxbox or /etc/enigma2 or var/etc/tuxbox

To actually do the scan you go back to 'Manual Scan' under 'Service Searching'. To find Saorview frequencies for your area go here. To Tune in the Saorview TV and Radio Channels configure the scan this way:

Tuner Tuner A:Tuner3 (DVB-T) [With 'Tuner' highlighted press right arrow on remote]
    Type of Scan Single Transponder
Frequency <XXXXXX>hz (See link above for frequency in your area. E.g: Kippure transmitter in Wicklow would be 738000hz)
    Bandwidth 8MHz
    Clear before Scan yes
    Only Free Scan yes
(( Leave all other settings unchanged ))

When the scan is completed just press 'OK' and go back into 'Manual Scan'. To Tune in the free to air Satellite TV and Radio Channels configure the scan this way:

    Tuner Tuner B:Tuner1 (DVB-S2)
Type of Scan Single Satellite [Highlight and press right arrow on remote to change]
    Satellite Scan Astra 1N/2A/2F (28.2E)
    Network Scan yes
    Clear before Scan yes
    Only Free Scan yes

When the scan is completed just press 'OK' then keep pressing 'Exit' to get out of that Menu. To sort all this mess of channels use DreamBoxEdit.

Can this play stuff off an external HDD? Like all filetypes? Or is it limited?

I play AVI, MPEG and TS from HDD and network without problems but it doesn't see WEBM files.

I'm trying to flash OpenAR-P_OE2.0_211_alien_epl3-git-14-04-13_v2013-03-31-31-g994c8c4 that I got from AR-P Team Website but when I boot into enigma 2 after flashing it in Spark it gets stuck on Boot...

    What I did:
    1. In Spark 1.2.63 I used e2upgrade plugin to flash AR-P. I have two files: e2jffs2.img and uImage in a folder called 'enigma2' in the root of a fat32 formatted usb key plugged into back of Alien2. It seems to flash fine and tells me it was successful.
    2. Reboot Alien 2 into Enigma... It says 'BOOO', 'BO5O', 'B1OO' then 'SUCC' on the Alien 2 display then goes to 'BOOT' and stays there, never gets to 'LOAD' etc...
    3. I waited for 20 mins first time, it just stayed on BOOT.
    4. Went back to Spark, flashed it a second time in the same way but same result.. stuck on Boot.
    5. Went back to Spark and thankfully was able to flash back my HDMU backup image.

    Any ideas??

    Hi all

Finally rebuilt OpenAR-P again from scratch.

So I now have my box working with AutoTimer, AutoVolumeAdjustment, AutoBoquets, CrossEPG, CoolTVGuide, 1channel, Icefilms, Various Skins, all Picons, Time from NTP, OSCam, SDA1 mounted as HDD, both OpenWebIf and WebInterface, SambaServer and RTEPlayer. You can obviously install any other plugins you choose. Let me know by PM if you want a copy.

    AR-P Rocks - solid !!!

In case anyone has a similar issue:-
I recently ran into a problem where CrossEPG wouldn't download any data on Enigma. After trying various backups that I knew had worked before I was a bit stumped until I realised I had made 1 common change. I had downloaded a newer version of satellites.xml because I heard some ITV TP parameters had changed. Turns out the new xml didn't include the EPG data TP settings.

    Hi,

Is it possible to ftp a channel list with (saorview and feeviews) into the box on e2,
I have hdmu satstation, cant get to grips with dreambox edit.

    Thanks..

I agree that DBEdit is a bit confusing at first. Like most things relating to Alien 2 setup there is no quick fix really, you should persevere with it if you are going to stick with Alien 2.

DBEdit is FTP software. It works by firstly taking channels lists off your Alien box and saving them onto your computer then you make changes to them using it then you FTP the changes back.

You have to type the IP address of your Alien box, username and password at the top of the DBEdit screen. You can find the IP address of your Alien by pressing Menu on the remote and searching under Network or something like that. The username is usually 'root' and HDMU images have password 'HDMU' but I don't know about Satstation images.

Post back some specific questions and we can help you more.

    Step by Step DreamBoxEdit

    1. Click on Tools > Options and set ALL THREE paths to /etc/enigma2/

    2. Click on FTP and Receive Files from Dreambox

    3. Select or Create Boquets in the right hand column

    4. The Boquet is loaded into the Middle Column

    5. Click and Drag the channels from the Left Column into the Middle Boquets column - into the order you want

    6. Once complete, Click FTP and Send files to Dreambox

    7. Reboot the Box !!!

Like Champion was saying in DBEdit there are three main windows: on the left a Services Window, on the far right a Bouquets windows and in the middle a Details window.

You can't actually re-organise the channels listed in the Services Window... What you do is create a bouquet (a favourites list), right click then 'Create Bouquet'. Now with that Bouquet selected.. click on it once in the Bouquet window... you can click on the channel in Services window and drag each one into the Details window. That adds it to the bouquet. You can re-order them once they are in the Details window.

For instance I have an 'All Channels' Bouquet with the channels laid out in the order I want them. Press 'OK' on the TV remote and I think it's Blue button to select the Bouquet you created.... then every time you press 'OK' after that it defaults to the last bouquet you viewed.

I just got a PC and I'm having problems mounting my Alien HDD on it. What driver/software do you use?

If you use the AR-P image, you can then simply map the hard disk like a network drive

    \\192.168.1.x\hdd

    Where/how do you map it?

If the Alien HDD is formatted in Ext3 then its contents won't be visible on a Windows PC without additional software such as Ext2Fsd Project

Did you have any joy? Flex outlined the manual tune process a few posts back, it should be straight forward enough.

I use HDMU, but Champ kindly gave me a copy of AR-P, I just haven't had the time to install it or watch TV...

    AVOID SPARK.

For those using my image, of course it would have been intelligent of me to test AutoTimer fully !! I have discovered that when you try and setup something, it Green Screens.

However, if you install the plugin from
    http://schpuntik.dyndns.org/feed/alien2/ipkextras/enigma2-plugin-extensions-autotimer_20130423-r2_sh4.ipk
    then AutoTimer works fine

    BUT

You then lose the Plugins Menu and so, you cannot delete or modify saved searches of the EPG :( I'll play about with it over the weekend to see if a solution to have both the Plugin Menu and the Setup of a new AutoTimer working simultaneously.

When I first installed the backup (many thanks) yesterday everything worked fine including autotimer, but today I got green screen.
The only plugin I had added since was permanent timeshift which I was thinking might have caused it. Wont get a chance until tomorrow to try again.
(p.s. picture started to judder after a few mins, mostly on Sky1HD).

Woo hoo, a working AutoTimer. Just download and install

    https://tdt-amiko.googlecode.com/issues/attachment?aid=920000000&name=enigma2-plugin-extensions-autotimer_20130522-r3_sh4.ipk&token=fFIOjm7GDA6EVMUoTxp7XYXVdVk%3A1370590849952

For those unfamiliar with manually installing this, follow the following (for AR-P)

    1. Download the plugin and FTP it to your box - maybe to the /tmp directory
    2. Telnet to your box
    3. At the prompt spark7162:~# cd /tmp
    4. spark:~# ipkg install enig<TAB> (Pressing TAB will write the filename in for you

    Done !!
