Is it possible to use this box with only one satellite feed coming in? Obviously I wouldn't be able to watch two satellite channels at a time but would all other features still work? e.g time shift

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,574 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

With one satellite feed looped through to the other tuner, it is possible to watch other channels from the same transponder or other TPs on the same polarity and Freq band. The box is even clever enough to know if you try to record 2 shows from conflicting TP's and will warn you of such. If you are recording a channel and want to watch another, the other non-available channels will be greyed-out.

With one feed is fine - but if you haven't bought a box yet - always buy one with two. You can then watch one programme while recording another.

Thanks champion, Yeah I plan on getting this box, I just don't have two cables running from the dish yet and was wondering if it'll work until I get that sorted. No doubt I'll be back with a few more questions when I buy one.

For anyone using the latest Autobouquets (1st March 2013 version) and have Republic of Ireland set as region, The file in link below fixes problems you may have with UK channels that do not appear in official Sky Irish epg, Namely ITV, Box music channels etc.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/nf6agd74he0vf37/autobouquets

FTP this file into your autobouquets folder in extensions. This file will replace an existing file inside autobouquets folder.

I have made some tweaks to the original image I created. One glaring omission was not to mount the USB HDD which meant it would not record unless mounted the disk - and were technically minded enough to do it.

So I just wish that Streaming worked and then everything would be complete. There's also still an issue with AutoTimer in that you cannot get into the Menu of it to maybe schedule it - but I have it installed.

Bear with me until the weekend and I will hopefully have a decent image for you.

Hey championc, did you get a chance to upload your latest AR-P backup? I'm very eager to give it a go instead of HDMU!

Ok so I tried flashing champions AR-P back up that he posted a while ago. Everything went well, the image flashed and booted ok, I can see the channel name on the front of the box LED, however I cannot see anything on my TV screen and it says "mode is not supported" (this message is coming from the TV and not the Amiko). I'm just wondering if the backup was created with 1080p settings? My tv is only 720p so perhaps that's why it is not working, is there any way for me to change the settings without knowing whats on screen??

bring box to a tv that supports 1080p and change it there.

    Hi Digi

I'm trying OpenPKT now but try the following

Press Menu, Up, Up, Ok, Down, Ok, Ok, Down, Left, Left, Green Button

This is to go to Menu, Setup, System, A/V Settings, Mode, 720p

Thank you very much for your help in relation to my Amiko.Due to work commitments I had to put the box aside for a while.
I eventually contacted the supplier on Adverts.ie. Swords satellites. Kaspars sent me images to my email and they done the job. He is a gentleman, after he mailed me he rang to check I got them and everything was working. Great after sales service.

    Hear we go again:D
On my lg tv everything is working fine but I bought the box for the kitchen and it a Hisense HD ready tv ( a good few years old) It has DVI connection and I bought a HDMI connection converter for it.
Picture is ok but I have no sound. I tried connecting the audio out on the box but no joy!!! I would live with the scart but I am getting nothing from that. I am using an AR-P image.
The scart works with Spark but not with AR-P. Is there a setting I am not seeing?

    Got it sorted.......

Hi Brian, What exactly was wrong and what did you do to get it working? My TV only has scart inputs and I'd like to try AR-P soon. Cheers.

    Why do you keep changing?

It's good to try out different images and see what they're like, to find the most stable one and find one that you like the most.

    Looks like none work?

    Why do you keep changing?

For me, I am looking for an image which is stable - no freezing or crashing - and which runs the plugins I want to run.

So for me, AR-P is about 80%. It cannot stream channels other than the one on screen and AutoTimer doesn't work. On occasions, it is frozen in the morning so either AutoBoquets or CrossEPG is not too happy when updating themselves overnight.

So I'm trying OpenPKT now which looks good but I'm having to hunt for some plugins like IceFilms and AutoTimer and get CoolTVGuide to work. But then, Streaming is working !!

So it's all about personal preferences. But, for me, it's all about stability. Priority No.1 has got to be that you're not rebooting every day.

got one of these boxes recently its setup similar to most on here but i tried to scan in the freeview/saorview channels and it says no channels found, the aerial is connected it definately works as my previous box was connected to this antenna, am i going wrong with the settings?

a number of us have found that using the Italy setting and changing bandwidth to 8mhz works

Have you tried OpenPLI? A lot of people seem to think it's the best. I couldn't get any of the backup images to load though.

Agreed, Finding a stable image that runs the plugins you want, is exactly the holy grail.

But in the meantime, anyone recommend a good media player plugin. I want to play NAS located media files on my enigma2 AR-P image.

I've tried a few, including project valerie but nothing looks good or feels right yet. Any favorites out there that won't green screen my box or need to go to the plugin menu to run?

When I first started with the HDMU image I was getting no sound and nothing showing up on screen either.. It wasn't until Day 2 that I realised I needed to press the AV button on the TV remote.

For a start what software are you using on your Alien2.. Spark or Enigma? There are people on this forum using Enigma Images: AR-P, HDMU, Open Pli and probably others too. Tuner configuration is likely to be different in each of them.

That's not quite true, HDMU 10780 has been rock solid for me, I don't think I've had to reboot it once since I flashed it.

CrossEPG, AutoBouquet, Autotimers, timeshift, recording, streaming and plugins such as RTE Player and Ice Films are all running flawlessly on it.
