Played the Old Course in Lahinch yesterday. Fantastic course that lived up to its reputation, 60km winds made it a real challenge but very enjoyable...

Got off to a bad start with 2 scratches in the first 3 holes but recovered well to have 30 points. No 3 putts was a particular highlight.

Played Ballybunion twice in the last few weeks with similar winds, bordering on the impossible but strangely enjoyable all the same. Lahinch is a fabulous course too..

Another steady round. Dissappointing all the same. Was +1 coming up the 8th and then the wind and rain started. Double bogied the 8th and 9th. 10th steadied with a par but wind persisted. Was happy the way I finished 2 pars in a row to give me 37 points and a cut back to 13.2

    Medal - Stroke play.

today was a disaster. Given I was actually hitting the ball well on occasion this is even more frustrating.

    High winds. Gusting.

If was writing a beginners guide to golf, and to things to avoid, opening with a 6 over, 4 penalty 10 would be near the top of the list.

Lost a reasonable tee shot, left my provisional unplayable and then the following shot OB. Thought I had steadied the ship with a regulation par on a monster par 5, sand save for bogey and then a short 1 putt bogey on one of my outside holes to be back at level 2's in stableford terms.

A very unlucky penalty on the next with the wind dropping just as my nicely struck 3/4 9 iron flew towards the green and the head dropped. 2 more balls into the water on the next and then on the 9th I put 1 in the water and double hit a chip to turn with 57

10th - one OB, one into water.
    11th - 2 into water
    15th - 1 into water
    18th - 1 into water.

Some nice holes in amongst all of that.

1 glimmer of positive - 5 1 putts (33 in all). That time on the short game showing some return.

Long game - actually ok when the wind wasn't buffeting me - a number of short iron shots stopping on the money.

Going to try and forget about my 113 blows and 15 penalty shots by having a beer.

    73 in the delgany jsc.
on the 18th tee i thought a birdie would be needed, hole was playing across and downwind but hit my drive through the dogleg into a bad lie so couldnt go for it in two, messed up the layup behind a tree and bogeyed. 71 did win...grrrrr.
played decent but missed a few 6-foot-ish putts through not being aggressive enough....found the greens very slow.

Still a nice score, will that round get you the better side of 4 into the 3.?

Played strokeplay comp in Moate early this morning and despite a solid front 9 I slipped up badly on the back 9 ending up with a nett 82 off 14. Suffered a ridiculous 11 on the Par 5 16th. Knocked down a drive then plonked my 2nd into the pond. Got away 2 decent ones then but the 4th ran into a fairway bunker, cleverly (or so I thought) picked it off clean with a PW but ran it through the green then somehow managed to duff 3 attempts at a chip before finally getting it down near the hole. Concentration wandered a lot today and although it was wet I cant say that it was a factor in my poor back 9.

Nice shooting especially as the day wasn't nice with the mist and rain. Agreed the greens were very slow but at least they were consistent, otherwise the course was nice and in good condition. I thought Delgany JSC was 5-9 but perhaps 4 was eligible also, either way you're on the right track playing some solid golf.
I had more of my mediocrity shooting 81 so guessing yet another 0.1 Alot of problems with irons and approach shots in particular of late. Failed to hit a single par 3 and pulled a number of balls left under trees. Going to have to arrange a lesson this week to try solve some of the issues.

. Knocked down a drive then plonked my 2nd into the pond.
A bit random, but its often worth considering taking an unplayable and going back to the tee if you hit a very knocked down drive and its in rough. Likely that a "proper" tee shot will work out better/further than a couple more (angry) hacks from the rough.

Played Farrangalway (Kinsale) yesterday, company society singles, had 31pts, played poorly, struggled with all aspects of game, the wind and fast greens were a tremendous challenge !
I haven't played here in quite a few years, and it has really come on, alot of work has been done and it's really showing, it's a real tough test of golf atm.

No angry hacks, just a poor shot execution from a reasonable lie.

32 points off 20 in Druids Glen last night.
7 pars was the high point but 2 scratches and 7 one pointers wrecked a potentially great round. Short game and putting saved me (30 putts)
Shortening back swing at the moment but transition is causing too much of an in to out downswing which led to numerous shanks. Positives are that I can see the potential when I can control the in to out!!

79 net in the monthly medal off 12.

Very tough conditions and again murderous from the backs. Putter bailed me out, on the front nine, but was just too far back after 12.

    8/14 fairways
    2/14 GIR (wow)
    34 putts
    91 blows

Had a good time on the course Sunday morning in the weekly stableford competition. I joined Grange Castle back in Feb got a handicap of 20.0 which has drifted to 20.2 due to poor shooting in inclement weather (I wear glasses and hate the feckin rain). Yesterday morning despite the changeable conditions I played very consistent golf for my handicap and came home with 40pts which was enough to take the overall prize after countback. I shot 6 over for the back nine with the runner-up shooting 7 over. The highlights of the round were two birdies and the hot streak of putting which resulted in me draining 5-6 single putts from 15-25 during the round. Upon reviewing my putting I had 26 putts in total and this included 8 single putts. The short game in general is really improving and is getting back to what I remember from my youth. In the past this part of my game was always decent due to extensive time playing Pitch & Putt. My handicap was cut to 19.0 and I'm really hoping to push on now during the summer if it ever appears. Making my debut in the club matchplay next week so will be getting some more practice in before then.

Open Sford Comp In Tullamore GC today.

Actually got lucky with the weather, it was windy but we only had a couple showers. 31 points off 10. Can take a bit from it, I had 6 three-putts, I had a couple long putts and I just could not get the speed right all day. Happy enough with the rest of my game, have been driving the ball brilliantly lately, need to sharpen up on my approach play, left myself in 3 putt territory way too often. I can actually take a lot from the round, I feel I am very very close to being able to put a few good rounds together.

    10/13 FIR
    6/18 GIR
    38 Putts :o

    Sunday. Golf. (Happy)

was +8 after 15 on Sunday and retired early thinking I wasnt going to get even close to featuring. It was also pissing rain.

Turns out the gross was won by a fella playing off 7 with 25 gross points. If I had gone +2, possibly even +3 for the last 3, I would have won the gross, lol. Sickening :)

What app are you using for the above scorecard? - looks good the way it shows GIR, putts etc. Could definitely do with that.

    Thanks

    Bad bad day.

Nothing right. Felt like giving up. Not like me.
