I learned yesterday that golf after a days work and 3.5 hours sleep the night before is not good !!

I had 26 points with 5 or 6 scratches - the worst one being about 25 yds short of green on a par 5 in 2 !

33 points off 18 in Woodstock today. 7 pars which was nice but messed up a few holes as well. Still won the outing though.

Very impressed with Woodstock though. Some cracking holes, particularly 6, 7 and 8

Unlike the rest of us I didn't think you had "those" days...

36 pts off 12 in castlemartyr today .. 20 out and 16 home.. Breezy enough but a few short putts missed and a few bladed wedges cost me dearly. The course is in fantastic condition.

75 gross, 71 nett of 4 around Lucan GC today.

Not a bad day, but very windy so I'll take that round! May even sneak a prize, although there's at least 1 score better than me as the bro shot a +2 73 off 3.

Played very solid for the first 7 holes, before a poor second on 8 and a lousy drive off 9 cost me 2 bogeys to finish the front side at 2 over.

Worse was to follow as an awful second shot on 10 would lead to a double bogey, so 4 shots gone in 3 holes from nowhere really, more than a little disconcerting. Also bogied 14, but got a break there as I plugged into the bank of a hazard short of the green with my second shot; kept it out of the water so couldn't complain! Parred 15, then had a great chance for a birdie 2 on 16, but lipped out from 6 feet. Disappointing, but I did manage my only birdie at 17 which cheered me up. Played 18 well, good drive, a five wood just short of the green and a decent chip to 7 feet. Putt refused to drop, but a par 5 there is never a bad score.

If nothing else, I expect to get cut at least 0.2 today, which means I should go from 3.6 .to 3.4, allowing me to qualify for the senior scratch cup in Lucan tomorrow. Having won the Junior Scratch a couple of years ago, it means a little more for me to qualify for and attempt to compete for the Senior version, so heading into tomorrow's 36 holer with some encouragement!

A thoroughly mediocre day today in pretty breezy conditions, 4 Down in V-Par, 88 strokes off 12.

Pretty Solid off the tee again, 9/14 FIR, but only 5/18 GIR. 36 putts, lag putting pretty solid, pace good, but in the scoring zone I'm not making enough putts.

Can't say that I'm too disappointed in my game at the moment. Still adjusting to slight changes from lessons & in the middle of study period with exams over the next 2 weeks, so no time to get in any range work etc recently. Come May 19th, thats all done & I can get stuck back into things.

34Pts off 18 around tramore, two scatches. One was after a great drive on the 7th to leave 100yds and put a wedge over the back and mad an arse of the recovery and the second was a shank from my second shot on the 14th that went straight into the trees on the right. Had a putt for eagle on the par 5 9th after a huge wind assisted drive leaving 150 in so hit a 9i to about 20' then bottled it and three putted for par. One of those "what could have been" days. Lookin forward to the next one.

34 points off 18 in Tuam. Two scratches cost me due to fairway woods and not bothering to consider the wind. Happy enough with the rest of it particularly the driving and chipping.

37 pts off 14 in Ballykisteen yesterday in a society outing.

    Wind made the Index 1 11th a beast & putting wasn't great.

    FIR 50%
    GIR 56%
    PUTTS 38..... 3 3putts

88 shots, 38 points off 18 in the professional's day at Ballykisteen today. 1 birdie and 2 scratches, 18 points on the front, 20 on the back. Missed out on 3rd place in Category 2 by 1 shot. 44 points won category 2, 41 was 2nd and 39 was 3rd. Category 1 was won by 37 points on countback, 2nd was obviously 37 also while 3rd was 34 points. Category 1 players were playing off the blue tees while category 2 were off the whites.

    GIR 5/18 (6, 10, 12, 14, 15)
    Putts 33

Two firsts today out in Rarhcore in comp.

First round back after a 3 month injury lay off and first round after changing my cack-handed grip to orthodox. Suffice to say I will get a 0.1 back and don't really wanna add to that!

In all honesty though my short game let me down today more than long game so can put that down to rustiness. Still using old grip for putting and green side shots.

    Great to be back playing.

    Where did you finish?

Presume it's the index 1 11th that was a beast? Into the wind it's a tough hole alright although I reckon the index 2 is more difficult.

Finished 2nd.......38 pts won it, happy enough though, first round in a month and had a lesson in between.

Yeah 11th was tough, I hit a good drive, a 5 wood for my second and was short of the green. I made it just over the corner with my drive on index 2 2nd, just messed up my second. I agree it's a tougher hole though. Putting let me down yesterday tough.

30 points and my FIR was probably 0%, so actually happy with my recoveries. Worst day ever with the driver, back out for a comp tomorrow, so went to the range after today's round to tinker.

We had an 'Open Fourball' in Moate today and my playing partner & I scored 36pts off our revised handicaps (3/4 hc meant we both played off 11). My putting was poor, left a lot of them short again particularly early on in the round.

45 points won (from a 12 handicap which is Intel shooting) so 0.1 and back to 9 for me.
for a lesson after yesterday's round and practiced into the darkness.

    39 points today,
    31 putts
    61 FIR
    33 GIR

    1 eagle
    1 birdie
    7 pars
    9 bogeys.

New swing is settling in, hit a measured 289yrd/265m drive up 17th fairway and then proceeded to bogey it :-)

Tale of two nines for me this weekend.
Ended up with 81 (+11) off 8, but with 4 double bogeys and a single bogey on the front nine, not too unhappy with the back.
    Its a strange old game......

not all 0.1's are born equal.

Yesterday was a hungover horror show. Took until at least the 10th before I hit the ball and even then the short game didn't show up.

    1 fairway, 3 greens, 42! putts. I scratched 1, 5 & 6 but nothing after that. a lot of 1 pointers though!

Today I hit 6/14 fairways, 3 greens & 38 putts. 5 scratches though for 29 points. I was hitting the ball so much better than yesterday and once I controlled my tempo (an ongoing struggle) the connection was solid. My scratches principally resulted from a bad tee shot being compounded further down the hole.

I'll be back out to where I started last year. The swing is much better than last year. I just haven't followed it up yet by scoring. Even today when I was level 2's after 3 holes I'm getting ahead of myself

91 strokes in Intermediate scratch on home course. Conditions were good. Just one of those days with 3 bad holes out of no where.
