    Anyone any idea ? Please.

My GF's One S screen cracked like that last year and she got a quote of €90 including labour from a shop on talbot street. Not sure if there'd be much difference with the One V screen costs.

There's a screen on ebay for €27 inc. delivery (Irish seller) if you know someone that'd be able to put it in:

Edit: That actually doesn't seem to include the digitizer like this one does:

Sh*t , A repair shop had none in stock and couldn't give an accurate price until they came in but reckoned it would be about €60. Hoped it would be less than this but looking at those links he's probably right.

    Thanks for replying.

Ok there is definitely an issue. Ive check the Wifi and all is fine, im on DHCP (same as phone) and can browse, stream successfully and im getting 10Mbps+ speeds.

On my phone Im browsing and streaming youtube fine so no issues there, ive tried to do a speed test but the webpage redirects me to download the app

I tested a few apps i.e Angry birds, paper toss & fruit ninja each is circa 20MB in size. They all begin to download but stall at 4.15KB for a couple of minutes and then go to 8.92KB a few minutes later and so on. After 15minutes fruit ninja was @ 45.37KB (0%) and I gave up. Paper toss was the same until I looked at the phone 10mins later and it has successfully installed???

My guess is either an issue with my google play store accounts or (hopefully not) an issue with the wifi module in the phone??

Just cracked the screen on my 2 week old HTC one. ****. I bet it will be difficult to get a replacement and he I do it will cost a fortune. Absolutely raging.

First phone I've insured, going back to 088 analog days. So-called gapless construction makes it all-but economically unrepairable.

Its definitely repairable unless HTC plan to throw any phone that comes in for repair into a skip.

How hard is it to unlock these phones?

I want to buy one from donedeal and want to have/get it unlocked.

Also, how do I check it gets direct updates for android, rather than android -> Network -> me

/Economically/ repairable. The screen and digitiser on a HTC One X is €150+, and that can be pried out. The One is glued.

Handset makers rarely repair their own phones.

Try it on another wifi network so you can rule out your workplace's network.

There are unlock codes available online if you want to network unlock. Unfortunately you can't bypass the network updates even if it's unlocked, as your updates will be dictated by your Carrier ID, which will still remain with the phone. Only other is to root your phone and flash the latest roms yourself as they come out.

HTC will have a way of repairing. It will be interesting to see how much they would charge for a repair such as screen replacement. I paid €165 twice to repair my girlfriends S3. Depressing.

I'm biased, but TrickDroid for me as it offers way more options so you really see the benefit of having a custom ROM. That said, I've been beta testing TrickDroid 5.4 today and having issues.....so would only recommend 5.3 for now.

ARHD is a great solid ROM if you want as close to stock as possible, no bells and whistles.

Again, I'm talking about economic repairs, not whether they're actually repairable or not. That said, iFixit say it'll be an absolute pain in the hole to repair; and on top of that I'm told that HTC are one of the worst for repairs, because they don't provide schematics. I can't speak for the validity of the last part though.

Most people would consider that uneconomic, and I'd guess many people would consider a single repair uneconomic. Which, again, is my point.

Anyone successfully get this phone subsidised on a 12 month contract with any network? Three and eMobile's prices for 12 month contracts are ridiculous.

Yeah, just illustrating that no flagship phone offers economic repairs these days, at least regarding the screen. Even the S3 which is relatively easy to pull to bits, costs an absolute fortune to get the screen replaced due to cost of materials.

Insurance is the only real option for me with the One.

Yep, ordered from Handtec, waiting since the 5th of April. Hearing good things about Monday tho, apparently they're getting stock. Presumably will be the same situation for other retailers.

Thanks lads. Went ARHD in the finish as it was my first flash on this phone. Working great now so far! The minor tweaks are grand now. Might get itchy feet and push the boat out a bit further later on. Thanks lads.

But you can buy the screen and digitizer online for about 30 quid. It can't be that hard to put in?

Just did a bit of reading up on putting a new screen in. Near impossible. So I'll just have to make do with a cracked screen. So annoying as my case was due to be delivered but got delayed. Sickened.

Still can't get the TV app to work. Getting annoying now.
    Anyone having trouble with it?

Keeps giving me an error message when I select sky tv.
Do I have to select UK as the country when setting it up?

Karen, I have the One X which I dropped and cracked the screen on the lower right quarter. None of the glass fell away. I put a screen protector on it to keep the screen in, sort of, one piece,

It has worked away happily for 6 months or so. I've checked in a number of local repair places here in Cork for quotes to repair the screen. It would cost approx €180.00

I recently spoke to a pal of mine who runs one of the better phone repair shops, one which has a very good reputation. He told me that screen replacement is very hit and miss: it is very hard to get right one the One X.

So, if you are going to invest in a screen replacement, I'd suggest get HTC in the UK to do it. That way you have some assurance that it will work out.

I had no problems whatsoever. I am going to wipe app data for the TV app and go through set up again, just to test.

What firmware version are you on?

    4.1.2

It's probably something that I wouldn't use all that often but when it's available it's annoying when it does not work.
