I'm loving my One but I'm not seeing the battery life others are reporting, I'm getting pretty much the same as I was on my HOX, which wasn't very good. Had everything turned up to 11 when I first got it as an experiment but I'm back to my usual setup now, albeit with power saver turned off. A bit disappointed tbh, hope I don't have a duffer. How are the rest of ye getting on?

lads, you are asking for trouble, no phone will be perfect, stop looking at youtube videos, if there is something thats glaringly wrong return it,

    otherwise cool the jets

The sharp raised edge on the lower speaker is easily noticeable, and is uncomfortable if you catch it. It's also going to catch dust and grit.

Aside from which if there's obvious build quality issues, I'd be concerned that there are other less obvious ones which might cause long term problems.

It's a discussion thread - don't see anything wrong with people comparing the quality of their handsets, at least that way you can get an idea of whether things are a certain way on all sets by design or if it's a manufacturing flaw on individual ones.

i totally understand that but watching videos that highlight flaws that other wise you wouldnt have noticed is asking for trouble, like looking at your swiss watch through a loupe, you'll see things that you wished you hadnt looked for :P

also, long term problems? 90% of people posting in this thread will have moved to the new hotness in about 12 months :D

I think Meteor is starting to limit the availability to people who want e25 contracts. I've read that story on S4 thread about sales rep not selling the phone in store or on-line.
It happened to me last Friday, I was on e50 contract with 50% discount promo since Galaxy Nexus appeared 18months ago but I said I'm no longer using this plan, because I would have to pay full e50. I decided to take just plain e25 and phone for e199.
I was told over the phone that I'm getting the phone but the lad said there's some issue with my cc and he would ring me later on. He did by the end of the day and said they were out of stock by the time he finished his "paper work".
I asked to be put on the waiting list once they have it but no word from him since.
Not cool Meteor, not cool at all.

Have the chance to get this as an upgrade with vodafone. Can anyone here tell me if vodafone has filled it with bloatware .... thanks

Mine came with bloatware, but you can disable it all. Only thing you're really stuck with is the Vodafone logo splash screen, unless you plan on rooting and running a custom ROM.

That sounds suspiciously like what happened to me. Ordered Thursday, card charged and get a call yesterday to say it had been cancelled due to processing error(money already taken from card so no error) and a refund would be issued.
Told I could then try reorder(expect it will be out of stock).
I have posted on the talk to forum so will see if I get anything, if not will just cancel my meteor contract.

Are we going to be this fussy lads...seriously!!!

Yeah because we're obviously spending 600 quid on a low end device.

There shouldn't be flaws in what's their called their flagship. You don't see any small gaps or inconsistencies in the iPhone or the S3 (don't think S4 has been out long enough)

It's a premium device. Quality control should be top notch not like a cheap Chinese phone

Got mine today, perfect nick for me.
previously had an SII so getting used to sense.
can anyone tell me how do you get the weather to work on the homescreen?
mine doesn't seem to be working. Does GPS need to be turned on?

thats where you are wrong, if you go on any apple forum there are threads detailing poor build quality, i know of one guy who had 6 4s before he was happy and the finish on the new 5 is a nightmare for scratches

they are all chinese phones, we just pay more for ours:P

    pay more for ours:P[/quote]

    Taiwanese, Korean and American :)

    Assembled in China.

I've never seen an iPhone that had build quality issues. I've never heard reviews noting that the finish on the iPhone was of poor quality.

Now it might have issues during its life time. Notably where the aluminium edges get damaged, but that's user caused damage rather than apples fault.

Personally all of this small tiny things have put me of actually buying one.

That's my own preference. If your happy with the finish that's fine for me. I was actually looking forward to it as HTC used to be my no 1 device manufacturer. I've had every one of their flagships since the HD2 and they all disappointed me in one way or another compared to what the competition offered

Seems the phone is in stock in a few meteors in Cork, can anyone confirm if it's locked with Meteor before I get it?

How come you left your 50euro contract with 50% discount? Were you forced out? Because I got that deal with my Galaxy Nexus similar to yourself and I was able to upgrade to the One and keep the same contract. I even got the One for €100

This is what the rep told me over the phone when trying to order on Friday. He even asked me how come I got this 50% discount contract in the first place!
I haven't decided on anything yet since they don't have the phone in stock

Sorry but its just not good enough. You maybe happy with shabby equipment but i am not! My last few phones were galaxy nexus and a nexus4 and they had no build issues like this.
It doesnt look as bad in the picture but there is a gap there and it closes when you press the phone together. The plastic itself looks like its not cut straight at all.

My friend in work has an xperia z sonys flagship phone and the build quality is excellent I have seen S4's and they're quality is also very good even though its plastic.

I returned the phone to a vodafone store today and the member of staff agreed it was not good enough for a premium device and mentioned it would be very easy for water to enter the phone for example. I now have to wait for the phone to go back and see if its a manufacturing default.

In fairness water would get in the headphone jack .2mm away from the gap or the speaker grill .5mm away.

For me I would take the barely noticeable gap and the aluminum body over the galaxy's greesey plastic body. Overall the phone is solid and feels well built, it's just a side effect of trying to fit in so much.

Apparently they have some of these in stock now in meteor but aren't allowed to sell them on pay add you go. Absolutely ridiculous.

Shops earn only a couple of Euro for PAYG handsets vs. A good amount for upgrade and ports and migrations.

It's not the official policy but a lot of the stores have resorted to this to in hope of reaching the targets set to them. Especially when a new flagship is released and the demand is high.

Not fair but the only way they can keep the door open sometimes

Well I bought it anyway and I can't see any Meteor branding so hopefully it's unlocked.

Lovely phone anyway. Can you get the blinkfeed working in a launcher? I'm after putting nova launcher on it like my One X and I can't find it yet.

Also bought this cover, had the same one for the One X which did it's job.

I haven't looked at any videos. Sure, there's some stuff that's OTT - I did spend a minute or so trying to decide if I had the poor finish on the inside of the headphone jack someone else was talking about - but at the end of the day, if 99%+ of the phones are fine and I'm one of the unlucky one with a slightly poorer quality handset, why should I settle for that if I can exchange it for a better machined unit? You wouldn't buy a new car with a couple of dents in it if there was a perfect one sitting beside it.

I very much doubt 90% of new One owners will be moving on in 12 months, but a lot of those that are will be reselling their phones, and if it's become clear in the meantime that there's an identifiable batch that have issues, that's potentially going to affect the resale value.

I still love the phone - if I brought it back in tomorrow and they said the last One ever is gone, you can have a perfectly machined Xperia Z or S4, I'd stick with what I have. Or even if they said it'll be a 5 or 6 week wait. But I'm bemused why anyone wouldn't exchange it given the chance.

No, AFAIK you can't get Blinkfeed without the HTC launcher. Not yet anyway.

How does that case fit (if you've got it yet)? Was looking at something similar before but a few people said it made the power button a hit hard to access

Exactly mate there are plenty of happy new HTC One owners with no build quality issues why should anyone keep an inferior product!!

No idea, only got the phone today so hadn't ordered anything. Probably was a little more difficult to press the power button with the X but I didn't mind.

I'll let you know when I get it.

Downloading the update now...got the phone in meteor in blanch. on Friday. Quality phone it really is, I have had multiple iPhones and the last 2 Samsung Gals and this is the nicest geekphone I have had. Nothing wrong with the SG3 but this is phone porn.

Wi-Fi is the only thing I am having trouble with and that could be the ****ty UPC 50 met router with no aerial!!!

Hey guys just wondering if any of you know if there is any knack to getting it in black on Three, as far as I know only Meteor and Vodafone have it in black but i saw a few people saying it was unlocked and unbranded so was wondering if there was any way around this. Thanks.

Arrived today thank god. Loving it so far. Nicest feeling phone I've ever had and that's coming from an iPhone 5 , sgs2 etc.

I had got some fright after reading about people having their orders cancelled and such on here.
