Good to see 3 youths players join the Leinster academy. With the work being put into the youths system that number will only keep on going up
Usually is end of May/June before Munster announce their academy. Will be interesting to see how many Munster add considering there is only 3 in final year this season

Leinster U18 clubs team looked good this year too, maybe more to come

Would Moloneys absence be due to there already been a number of backrows, specifically opensides already in the academy, you'd imagine other provinces would be looking at him.

yeah, seems like the most obvious thing to me. Very talented kid but we have tons of backrows in the academy and he is still pretty young.

Maybe a year in the sub-academy and then in. Depends where he ends up going to college.

Yeah plenty of very good proven backrows in Leinster at the moment. If he develops well next season he is likely to get in next year when contract situation with other backrows will be more clear

no need to apologize, the confusion caused by Molony/Moloney is frequent.

good news on SCM, he missed a lot of time with that illness.

3 schools products and 3 youths products.

    Peter Dooley(LH Prop/Youth-Offaly)
    Ross Molony(Lock/St.Michaels-Dublin)
    Steve Crosbie(Outhalf/St.Gerrards-Dublin)
    Tom Daly(Centre/Youth-Carlow)
    Adam Byrne(Wing/Youth-Kildare)
    Billy Dardis(Fullback/Terenure-Kildare)

Dardis and Molony are the only two schools ?

    both are second rows right?

Madigan being under-20 next year, not sure about O'Shea.

Yes both are second rows. O Shea is same age group as JJ Hanrahan. ie 92

Pretty old to be going into the academy, what's his story?

Obviously second rows develop later so it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Munster like their 2nd rows, that'll be 4 in the academy next year. There's 3 in there atm but think Hayes is in his final year.

Not that old. Philly Donnellan from Nenagh was 23 at end of last season when he joined the academy.
No idea what Darren o Shea's story is. He played underage for various munster sides. just kept on playing AIL after school. He is from Crosshaven origianlly and played youths with them before going into dolphin when in college i imagine

thanks, would be pretty surprising if Sean McCarthy didn't make the academy aswell right?

Also what height would you put either O'Shea or Madigan at?

Looks like we'll be needing a scrumhalf fairly soon.

There doesn't "need" to be a -player in each position.

I assume someone like Charlie Rock or the Ireland 18s captain Nick McCarthy will get a academy place in the next year or two anyway

If we don't make a signing at SH in a couple of years we will just have Cooney and McGrath which is fine since I have hope for the both of them to come through. That said we should be looking at someone to enter the academy (either for 2013/2014 or 2014/2015) so that someone with a bit of development will be coming through as 3rd choice when Reddan/Boss retire.
