Not trying to bump heads on this thread, OH. Not the place.

    No, it certainly isn't.

Sometimes an emoticon can convey more than mere words can. Are you actually telling me what I can and cannot post or feel on this subject now?

Not at all but posting a smilie face in response to another poster is not engaging in discussion or debate. If the best you can do to respond to another user is to post a sad face then really, why bother?

The official statement on tv put out by the deputy Mayor and Police Chief confirmed a 3rd incident at the library as being an explosive.

Just goes to show the foolishness of trying to put out information with breakneck speed. It always results in total confusion and conflicting information, which by and large makes situations worse.

I knew 20 minutes if not longer before that from a souce at the library that it was a fire rather than an explosive device. Initially, it was thought that it was an explosion, but once emergency services were at it, it was clear it was a fire.

WSJ has that there was five other devices found around the place

Some of the photos in the 'Photos that shook the world' thread are truly, truly horrific.

Really not for the feint hearted and probably not for the majority of people really. I'll be amazed if the death toll remains at two after seeing some of those photos

The poor guy in the wheelchair OMG!!! Lost both legs and one of the medics running along side is actually holding onto/pinching his femoral artery to stop him bleeding out....while they are running/pushing him in the wheelchair. Fcuk Me!!

Excuse me, I've been advised to keep on topic and not derail/post my own agenda etc. Please don't tell me I cannot post emoticons. Or likes, for that matter.

It's obviously not a serious terrorist organisation like Al-Qaeda. Its way too small time for them. It's most likely some individual or group of small time domestic terrorists acting for their own interests

Was the area that had the bombs easy to access? Why I ask is that from listening to the news the dogs and cops had the area scanned for bombs earlier in the day

Your body would go into shock so you may not feel the full force of the pain.

The BBC coverage is better than Sky as it's not as tabloidy.

City of Boston will be open, but with a heightened security presence with random checks of backpacks

If you're watching it merely for entertainment, I'd consider switching off the tv and going to bed.

Has it being reliably confirmed that family members of Sandy Hook victims were in the stand across the road from where the bombs were detonated?

Keeps appearing on my Twitter feed but with vague sources mentioned
    The Atlantic Wire
    The Independent (UK)
