Has it being reliably confirmed that family members of Sandy Hook victims were in the stand across the road from where the bombs were detonated?

Keeps appearing on my Twitter feed but with vague sources mentioned

Cut the crap. No matter how you look at it an attack on an American city is going to have more meaning to people here than another bombing in Iraq. Both are tragedies, no one is denying that but in Iraq bombings are almost a part of day to day life. Can you please stop trying to derail the thread just so you can spout from your high horse about how you value all life-equally unlike the rest of us.

I posted a sad face because that's how the post made me feel, I was careful not to make any comment on the actual post. I too, have family in the US and friends in Boston. So cut out your own crap. I haven't derailed squat. I've post my opinions on the tragedy, whether you care for them or not.

Terrorism in the US is, sadly, nothing new. It's been happening since the inception of the country.

Following a terrorist attack in America isn't just a morbid fascination about the number of dead compared to a tragedy elsewhere. It's about the political implications of an attack on US soil. It's about watching carefully how political figures react to it. More people will probably die in my local hospital tonight than because of bombs in Boston but I don't measure the importance of news to me in numbers.

I am sorry I don't care so much about Iraq, but if you want to make this into a numbers measuring competitions why aren't you throwing in Aids in Sub-Saharan Africa, Famine in East Africa and disease in Southern Asia.

This is the thing though, all the political reactions will affect people in the Middle East way more than people in Europe or America. You're really limiting your scope with that way of thinking.

Since humanity discovered the ability to assemble weaponry - terrorist attacks have occurred. Its not a contest. People are upset about this because of the Boston - Ireland connection.

No. All rumours at the moment. One source says a Saudi national. But nothing is certain.

    :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

    Front page of Daily Mirror:

    "12 feared dead
    "Al Qaida" suspect detained"

The above, in time, may well be true or may well be a load of bull.

But right now, they have no basis for that front page.

If you have nothing to say about a post then there is no need to quote it and post up a smilie. just ignore it and move on. You have repeatedly attempted to derail this thread and make it about something it is not. Terrorism on American soil is not something new but unlike in Iraq and certain other countries it is not a daily occurrence and as such will garner far more attention. As for the whole having family in America and Boston, many of us do but that does not make today's events any more tragic.

I know that relatives of mine were posting on facebook from the marathon today and mentioned that the survivors were in attendance but that could just have been a rumor that was doing the rounds there.

at first officially linked and unofficially reported as linked.

A few hours later confirmed as unrelated.

That may change again, who knows.

Sometimes an emoticon can convey more than mere words can. Are you actually telling me what I can and cannot post or feel on this subject now?

According to the library themselves, they were never linked, but because of the events, they were being treated and investigated as if they were until proved otherwise

The official statement on tv put out by the deputy Mayor and Police Chief confirmed a 3rd incident at the library as being an explosive.

Just goes to show the foolishness of trying to put out information with breakneck speed. It always results in total confusion and conflicting information, which by and large makes situations worse.

There was a mention of a arbaic group who appeared agitated or soemthing and one of the officers was enquiring as they to be searched for possible IED or something like that
