Im 99% sure this is a terrorist attack by a middle eastern jihad group no way an american nut done this with such good success.

You've never heard of Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma City bombing which killed 168 people?

    Oh well in that case....

Speculation, speculation, wait for more information before throwing out crazy, unquantifiable statistics... these threads really do attract all sorts of wild claims and goings on.

    Your're very naïve.
I was thinking the same thing.
I don't want to get into a petty argument over this considering the tragedy. But I believe it would be quite difficult to get a bomb into such an area.

The NY Post are either making stuff up or they know something that the Police Commissioner doesn't.

Doesn't seem big enough to be related to Al-Qaeda. I also would have thought that if it were anything to do with Al-Qaeda, they'd go big and be more inclined to go for government buildings or what have you, rather than a marathon. But, who knows?

If it wasn't for the medical staff who normally attend these events I could imagine there would be even more deaths. Only takes one nut job :(

This thing about the Saudi. Is he actually a suspect or just under armed guard in case some "patriot" decides to attack the first middle eastern fella he sees.

The official comment from Boston PD is that there are no suspects under guard at any hospital.

Sky news reported there were and that it was confirmed by PD officials but then withdrew it a half an hour later.

The scanners however report there is a suspect being detained somewhere.

There's a lot of confusion surrounding the matter. It's possible there is a suspect but the PD have asked news sources to keep it under wraps, or it's possible that there is no suspect and it's all Chinese whispers.

Eh, Unabomber. DC snipers. It goes on.

The NY Post has really outdone itself today, inflating the death toll by 600% and seemingly pulling a Saudi evil-doer out of their ass.

This happened in Norway too. Wait for the facts.

Watching scenes like this and not only in Boston but all over the world, it really does make you lose faith in humanity :(

    Why?
mankind has been knocking 7 shades outta mankind since we first crawled outta the slime.
sadly it's nothing new at all.

That's likely old information from the last time the police commissioner made a statement. Since then a man has been arrested on boston commons and the FBI are there now. It's been mentioned a few times on the boston police scanner. There HAS been an arrest, and there IS a man in custody

    http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2013/04/15/explosions-near-finish-of-boston-marathon/?hpt=hp_t1
[Update, 6:35 p.m. ET] U.S. Rep. Bill Keating, D-Massachusetts, said an unexploded device was found at a hotel on Boylston Street, and another unexploded device was found at an undisclosed location.
Keating, who is a member of the House Homeland Security committee and has spoken to law enforcement sources, tells CNN's Dierdre Walsh that the incidents were a "sophisticated, coordinated, planned attack."

I think you'll find people are expressing their shock and horror at such a despicable and cowardly act carried out on innocent people while watching and partaking in a sporting event.

Not surprising - it is a very family-friendly event. Kids love screaming and ringing cowbells as runners enter the home stretch. :(

    This picture.

Don't know where it came from or if it's even recent. Could be years old for all I know.

Has it been confirmed the arrest is related to the explosions?

Would be a hell of a coincidence given the mentions of the FBI going to that very same area to question an apprehended suspect on the boston scanner
