But then you only have the film to talk about, the point of a date is to get to know the other person.

The OP has stated he's nervous and shy.

Maybe a trip to the cinema is a good thing as he won't feel constant pressure to keep a conversation flowing all evening.

Plus, they have something to talk about after.

I don't see why they should have to justify their choice of a date - she was happy to say yes after all.

    1. Take her to a coffee shop or pub. Cinema is for when you've been dating a couple of weeks already.
    2. Use this as a learning experience for the next time you're on a date. You'll be less nervous the more times you do this.
    3. Remember the immortal words of Phil Lynott - "If that chick don't want to know, forget her....."

Lad you're messing up before you even start. Trust me!

Drop the cinema now or it WILL be very awkward, especially if its crap and after she just says I'm going home. What then? Another ****??

If you don't drink or she doesn't fancy drinking dont just walk around town like a gimp in awkward silence. Do something fun, something you both will be laughing and talking. If she gives ideas listen and then try mix it in with your own. Surprise her (not from behind though).

I'll also tell you another thing, the oul dating site is a strange one. I've gone on more than a few from them and 90% of the time they've lied about something or something didn't add up or they were just completely different from text and mail. Hate to put a downer on it but thats been my experience.

Relax don't over think things, if it goes well, sort something out again and if it doesn't just enjoy the day and who knows you still might to play hide the sausage!

    Good luck :)

Don't go to the cinema. It's your first time meeting up. Yee aren't interested in the film anyway. Yee will just sit in silence waiting for it to end, letting out the odd fake laugh here and there.

What happens after the cinema? You ask her what did you think of it and then go home? Just cut the cinema out and get to the talking out of the way first.

Well done, I managed more than a snort of air from my nose that time.

Cinema is ok first date, make sure you go for coffee or meal after.

It does give you something to talk about and does give you a way to get to know each other.

Be friendly but don't be a doormat.

It's nice to offer to pay, she should offer to pay too though. Or like you buy the tickets and she buys the snacks, etc.
Compliment her and ask her questions but again, moderately.

And it's ok to be nervous. Most people are om a first date.

    Op.

Eeeh, let HER pic the film. The last thing she wants to look at is cars blowing up and boobs.
If it's a sad film (where someone dies that even better.) once she crys. Put your arm around her. Don't buy a large popcorn, you look fat if you do. If she is cold outside give her your jacket. (worked for me. ;) ) If you go for a few drinks after the movie, I think once you drink 1 or 2 you will relax.

Make sure you have as many awkward silences as possible and check you have enough credit on your phone every 5 minutes.

Seriously, the cinema is the worst first date, ever. Grand for a 3rd+ date, absolutely, but a first - no. You sit in a dark screen watching a movie with zero communication, essentially you come out of the movie knowing then just as much as you did when you first met them?! Few drinks, then movie - not so bad, but ideally, on a first date, just simply a few drinks and chat.

Don't go without properly planning the evening.

-Think of a few things that the two of you can talk about beforehand. You don't want the trailers rolling and you saying something like "I hate that ad". She will smell the desperation.

-Go and see the film beforehand. Also, read as many reviews as you can and look up some trivia on IMDB. She will be dead impressed when you tell her what camera was used in filming.

-Pay a homeless guy to stage a mugging when the two of you are leaving the cinema. You can be the hero and 'beat him up'. Pay him extra for a couple of kicks on the ground.

    -Bring some rubbers.

First dates are all about inches. When you add all of them up that's the difference between going home for a **** or getting the ride.

Dates in cinemas have been ruined since they took away the outdoor cinemas and the big huge American cars with 7.6 litre engines, tail fins, a two-speed automatic gearbox and bench seats to make it easy to fool around in

I've been texting this girl for a few weeks now and I asked her earlier if she would like to go to the cinema on Sunday evening and she said she'd love to, great I thought but as Sunday edges closer I am getting increasingly nervous. I'm a shy guy by nature and have never really been on a proper date with a girl (not while sober anyway). To make matters worse I have never actually met this girl, we exchanged numbers on a dating site and have been texting every day ever since. We get on well and have a laugh, she's really easy to talk to and she's gorgeous too.

Don't really know why I started a thread about this but I guess I'm just looking for other people's experiences and advice. :o

First off, remember that she will be just as nervous as you. So chill.

Cinema - as other said, not a great idea.

Dinner - If you are nervous as f*ck already, probably not a great idea. Awkward silences, will she think I am a pig if I order that, should I take her jacket, bollocks, what fork do I use....

Drink - You are driving, but she aint. A few drinks may relax her, and by default -you too.

Probably the best first date for two people in your situation would be some sort of fun activity. Something that you can have a laugh and a giggle doing - but still get to know each other at the same time. If you have to drive, I take it that you live in a rural area? So probably a few games of pool, air hockey and bowling? Walk on the beach after?

Does her collar match her cuff then or what??????:pac:

You sure this is a real woman??????:pac::D

How can you talk to her if you are texting?????;)

If you do meet up and you notice a lump in her/its throat or see any sort of bulge in the frontal area, then eh............RUN

I'd agree with most people here that the cinema isn't the mae west idea for a first date. Dating site young ones are a funny bunch as well. Anyone can take a decent picture of themselves, you've been warned. You're probably way better off getting pissed and meeting someone when your out. Most of the decent looking birds on there are just on the rebound and probably aren't going to **** you Unless they're bet down psycho's who will stalk the **** out you.

that might sound **** but that's the real world and if I have to live there so do you.
    good luck.
