    Memory different

    shouldnt both be 2047 Mbytes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

I'd assume it's either the core clock or memory size. Have you tried updating CPU-Z? It's also worth mentioning that GPU-Z does exist. :P

Will only really be able to enjoy my new PC after my exams. College finishes this week, then have three weeks off before exams. My computer is going to be my stress reliever after long days of cramming :P

Always had great intentions of putting my build up. For one reason or another I just never did. You guys terrify me with your extremely neat and clean builds. It's not right.

Talking about overclockers I got this
    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GS-003-OP

****ing awful condition it was in, arrived like it was used already. Alot of the mat was worn out. Have to send it back now.

Probably my own fault buying a OC product.

I was over at the Overclockers shop during Christmas and got a smaller version of that mat. I'm happy enough with it. The edges are very slightly worn but it still looks fine. The shop is really cool they have all the different type of mechanical keyboards on display to try. My girlfriend really liked the QPad, might be able to convince her :D

Hi guys, got a new SSD today :) Drive seems to be performing well in day to day tasks and scores the max score in the WEI. How do these benchmarks look? (I'm running in SATA II - ACHI btw)

The write scores are dire, I had the same issue. You need to install the mobo drivers again after removing them and rebooting. The write performance should increase 3 times.

I thought the non-pro 840's had lower write speeds cause of the flash they use, the scores look consistent to what I've seen other non pro 840's do

Ok get your point. If its a 128gb drive the scores are spot on. A 250/500gb should have around 250/330 mb/s writes according to anandtech. On SATA II bandwidth saturation is not an issue at these speeds.

Edit....just saw yours is a 120gb....then the speeds are spot on.

Lads, while on the subject of correct write speeds, what should I use to bench my SSD?

    AS SSD
    Io Meter
    Sisoft Sandra (bloatware)

The samsung drives come with a nice bit of software called SSD Magician, it optimised the drivers, firmware, and system settings and runs benchmarks show the theoretical max speed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

    Yeah, Magician is pretty nice.
