Played Adare Manor yesterday with alxmorgan, ballyk and freemount09. The course was as good as the weather and the golf was very enjoyable. Three sound lads and it was a pleasure to be invited to play with them.

I managed a 78 on the home track. 6 over but I played the par 3's 5 over. There's always something.....

Well played yesterday. You'll be single figures in no time once qualifying starts.
As for me....well the scenery was nice  :D

Very enjoyable day in Adare. Great to get to play it in good conditions. It really showed how good the course actually is. Thanks to the lads for the game.

dines08 played great stuff. I'm still kicking myself over my two short missed birdie putts, grr

Played luttrellstown for the first time today. What a great course. It was in top condition apart from the greens which had only been sanded. Had 32 points and my mate had 29. A lot of missed birdie putts but we can blame the greens on that :P

35pts off 18 in tramore, it was a wet day but enjoyed the peace and quiet on my lonesome.
    A bit wayward off the tee on 1, 4, 5, 9, 13 and 17 lol

only the one scratch though so im pretty chuffed. If i had just used my 8 iron when short of the greens instead of trying to be clever with a SW i could have scored higher.

    Oh well, the next day!

    Played Luttrellstown today. Nice course!
Played off whites at 6779 yards.
    Shot gross 90 off 20 for nett 70 - 38 points.
7 pars, 5 bogies, 5 doubles and a treble. Driving was super. The treble and a couple of the doubles were me trying something different.... It didn't work!
Amazing clubhouse but it was empty - shame. Would go back again no problem.

I'm now a member of the 70's club ! Does it still count if it wasn't shot in a competition ?? Shot 79 yesterday at home club ! Best thing was it was a sneaky round that was arranged at last minute. But now I can't breath a word about it to the mrs !!

2 birds 4 bogies and 3 dirty doubles (one of which was the 1st cause I had to just run onto the first tee without any warm up)

It wasn't a comp but it was the most competitive 'friendly' fourball I've ever played.

Well done. It's a big aim of mine for the year (even if it does feel a million miles away right now).

Nice to get it done so early. You can set your sights higher now.

What would you say you did particularly well to achieve it ?

Not to be a party pooper, but if you were cleaning and placing, or placing everywhere, it shouldn't really count.....

    Party pooper:pac:

Shot 29 points off 22 today, happy enough standing on the 10th, had 20 points on the card. What happened on the back 9 was akin to a kid in a playpen with too many toys:rolleyes:, and a sore wisdom tooth to boot...

    Cheers Alx a couple of things went my way;
    1) my short game was deffo better than usual !
    2) I did get away with two poor hits when the ball scuttered up onto the green
    3) The group I played with all played well and had good banter.
    4) Most importantly I placed it particularly well !!

Shot +5 77 in Dun Laoighre (winter rules)

1st full round in about 2 years but I have been practicing hard so not totally rusty.

Really happy with my driving and iron game not missing much at all.

Short game was quite rusty with a few sloppy shots givin away shots.

Level front 9 and 5 over back

    1 birdie
    12 pars
    4 bogies
    1 double bogey

Overall very happy and I have spotted some easy fixes with the short game which I haven't put time into due to the crappy weather and no proper local practice area.

I had 36 points myself on Saturday off 13. I only did that once last year and this was first game since November

Winter rules really do make the game (in my case) alot easier.

    One under on Saturday!!

OK, it was in a scramble, but I'm taking 'em where I can get 'em. We literally couldn't buy a putt between the four of us. It was disgraceful. We were on almost every green in regulation but couldn't grab anything except two birdie chances and a three-putt (yes, again between the four of us!!) meant there was even one bogey.

Still, nice to get out and meet new people and have a bit of craic. I'm glad it was Saturday and not in the freezing cold yesterday...

Last Sunday, 22 points on the front 9, 14 points on the back 9, couldn't miss on the front, held 3 puts over 15ft  back 9 was just the opposite story and 3 putted from nowhere more than once:mad: 36 points and only 38 won that day:mad::mad:

Playing at-least one round every week over the winter has really paid off and I feel like my game now is back to where it would be usually by the end of the summers.

First monthly medal of the year and got cut 0.2 to 7.6.

Shot a 79 off 8 for nett 71. Pretty much a steady card 1 birdie, 9 pars and 8 bogeys. Is makes such a difference when doubles are kept off the card. Great feeling walking off the course shotting below 80 for my first comp of 2013. Hoping to get down to 6/7 by the end of the summer.

Can't wait to get the competitive season fully underway in April when comps become more regular.

30 points off 14 in Old Conna, 15 hole competition. Decent start anyway.

got a 1.3 cut in my handicap this week. GPR Clause 23 adjustment! whatever that is. i suspect its on observation. managed to win 2 comps in a row. first was a singles stableford were i scored 43pts off 17 (with 2 scratches!) and then i played a 2 man comp v,par which we also won playing off cobined three quarter handicap of 14..finished the round 11up for 1st prize. now down to 15.5 exact handicap..pretty happy with progress so far..hope to get down to at least 12 by the end of the season.

Hit 26 points yesterday in Mallow. 4 scratches and a desperate back 9.

Really gotta snap out of an increasingly dirty habit of throwing in the towel early if things are going wrong.

45pts off my new handicap of 16 today. equalled my best round of golf on my home course +6. was +2 goin onto the 10th..then bogey, double bogeyd the next 2 holes..took a breather and started to get my head back in the game. back to back birdies on 14 & 15 got good points on the board.

i didn,t strike the ball all that well strangely. i got lucky with some bladed pitch shots which landed on the green and stayed due to mega back spin. i was in 4 bunkers today which ive not hit before. another handicap reduction coming next week me thinks.

you may get used to handicap reductions shooting those scores. great stuff.
