No. Softcam Emulator like MGCamd plus Oscam will suffice.

Yes well technomate is one of the better supported boxes. Given its not linux doesnt mean they are not supported to facilitate what they are trying to do.

Back up your channel list from the USB port- it will create a CNDF file. This will be handy for what you are about to do next - flash new firmware, then the phantom patch. Then reload the CNDF file - channel list.

As far as I know the Viaccess card will work in the smart card slot with that sequence as the phantom patch has an emulator etc. Infact the original firmware may be fine with the technomates.

Make sure you only flash the firmware for your model box. There are 2 6900 ranges, one super, one not super . It says super on the box if it is a super (the non super has no ethernet port).

My Viaccess JSC cards used to always work fine in my TM6900 (it was patched though), unless things have changed.

Cheers byte - I gave my TM6900 away some time ago, and never used the card slot anyhow. But Technomate still support those receivers well. They also have excellent tuners in them.

Again many thanks STB,however I have a non patched tm 6900 super.I know that some cards need an official cam to keep card activated.

The patching is software. Its in that directory above. Its called Phantom patch. Guys that most certainly dont work for Technomate, probably :)

Got that email from JSC Cards as well. Really hope it's right about the renewal. But there's a whiff of squeezing a last few euros from people about it.

Jamalawad - you're involved with the cards aren't you?
is JSC moving beam or not?

any update on whether EPL on Al Jazeera will be on hotbird this coming season 2013/14?

In addition could anybody explain this cams and card stuff.

I have an alma s2300 combo box which has a card slot, (currently getting 19.2 and 28.4 plus saorview) so in simple terms if i buy a viaccess cam and card and connect up to 13e I am sorted? or is that too simple! Again TKs

When Al Jazeera do take over the EPL, it will not be on 13E.

Any more news on whether cards will be paired to boxes? My sub is up in a few weeks and I would like to get a new 12 month card. I am not expecting to get any EPL but would like to continue to receive what I had last season. I have Cyfra for EPL and will probably re-subscribe to that for the the new season.

That's basically it. Some receivers might support viaccess without the cam, (in the card slot) but the cam is handy to have as it will allow you to renew the card next year.

At the moment the link from the barclays EPL site with regard to broadcasters for that region is still showing abu dhabi sports.

I suppose when the first few televised fixtures are announced things will become much clearer. The EPL would like to keep the status quo as ABu dhabi sports much harder to get over here save with a big DISH! or if al jazeera get it keep it of Hotbird!! just have to sit and wait.

On another note why is the espn suite of channels not on al jazeera hotbird only nilesat? tks

@richardajkeys: Al Jazeera announce exclusive live coverage of PL for Middle East & North Africa. Sundays will be Super again! And we've got the 'REAL' MNF

Doubt it will be on 13 east but who knows?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,178 ✭✭✭STB

Word is out..... Al Jazeera have the EPL rights.

Proprietary Boxes and married cards or no 13E as has been the PL's stipulation all along.

Perhaps money has changed their minds.....

Hey, complete beginner when it comes to this stuff but I was wondering if someone could PM me/reply to help me out.

I have Sky set up in the house but ESPN looks to be gone to BT so I'm looking into getting Al Jazeera if possible.

Firstly, am I right in saying that the majority of Serie A matches will be covered on it? (I'm a Milan fan)

Secondly, will I be covered for the majority of Premiership games between Al Jazeera and Sky or do they both just show the same matches?

Thirdly, if the above games are shown, is the commentary in English?

Fourthly, what all do I need to get it? Is it just the viewing card (around €120) and a box (around €100) ? Will I need a satellite too or will my Sky satellite suffice?

Fifthly, is it illegal to get these channels in this manner?

And lastly, cheers in advance to anyone who replies to that awkwardly long message :o:D

Secondly: You will get EVERY SINGLE match on AJ Sports, a lot more than on Sky.

Thirdly: Yes, if past rights to the region are an indicator.

Fourthly: If you are referring to an IPTV-based service then that specific box would suffice and can run concurrent with your Sky set-up.
If you're referring to receiving via satellite than most likely you will need a humungous-sized dish. There is a smaill possibility that a smaller dish will suffice (HotBird) but it would still need to be bigger than your Sky dish and will be in a different slot in the sky than your Sky dish currently points at.

Fifthly: Directly subscribing via satellite is not illegal, once it's for home use. IPTV might be a different matter.

Al Jazeera will not be receivable in Ireland and the UK and if it is it will be with a proprietary box, so I would get the idea out of your head.

    Agree with STB.

In previous years, Al Jazeera was a brilliant cheap "fill in the gaps card". It didn't show Premiership, but did show loads of Italian football (sometimes four or five matches simultaneously), Spanish, French, South American, MLS etc. And boxing, tennis etc. Matched with the Cyfra card for Premiership, and there was plenty to watch.

I am not happy about the new development as it means that this is likely to disappear from 13 east as an easy, cheap option. I'm not pushed about it as a Premiership solution.

What about the online subscription? $85 for annual subscription for all channels (plus vpn or dns costs) seems like great value.

Anyone ever subscribed to it here? What is stream quality like etc?

How many Premiership games does Cyfra+ intend showing?

    A proprietary box?

It sounds like so much hassle when I just want to see all the Serie A games and the other Premiership games :o :pac:
