Has Al Jazeera given up on the SPL? It looks that way as they haven't shown anything yet this season. I assumed this was due to the olympics dominating their schedules but I see that it is not scheduled for next weekend either.

I think thats it done buddy, thats been three years they have had the rights, as am sure your aware most rights deals are three years (Some times five aswell) , I was hoping the same as you with the bloody olympics.

What Celtic games could you pick up with a Sky dish and what subscription would you need?

the ones the show on sky and espn.

it looks like al jazeera have stopped their spl coverage. nothing this year so far anyway.

mailed to Al Jazeera today and in fairness they came back very quickly. Couldn't make head nor tail of their first reply. So went back to them again and....

"We don't have it at the moment, but we may cover the important games so keep updated with the schedule"

any ideas where to go next so?

A bloody shame, to be honest I tracked the showing of games on various sides last season and the only side that had any consistancy were pay monthly only czech sides.

Its a shame what has happened with the SPL, but thats the way it has gone now, no interest in it with the rest of Europe/World. Lots of money lost in tv revenue for scottish football. Beds been made, it needs to be lied in now. Shame.

Only available on Satellite through Sky DE as a premium channel similar to Setanta here. Costs €4.99 on top of a Sky DE sub.

Also no premier league or la liga and the majority of the leagues it shows is available via a JSC sport standard definition sub for circa €80 a year.

just noticed jsc sports 1 and 2 channels are now in hd on hotbird

    picture quality is great now

I wouldn't be wasting money on subs especially for Scottish football. Scottish football is dead in the water now, there will not be much interest abroad anymore regarding TV rights I'm sure. Unless Tv companies buy the rights for next to nothing. Im sure i read there is get out clauses within the rights if there is no old firm games too, which will have to be re written now come the next batch of rights sales.

It's a right pain. And they are FTA too. It's not worth my while getting a bigger dish for them though.

Lads do Al Jazeera show UFC ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,914 ✭✭✭lertsnim

Nope. Only other channel I can find that shows it is Orange Sport in Poland. This is Polish only so no Mike Goldberg or Joe Rogan. For some that is an improvement lol

Bizarrely when I was looking for the boxing last night I found Tele 5 I think it was. They were showing some UFC. But between each fight they were riding the ring girls!!!

American dubbed into polish I think. Can't be sure....was afraid the girlfriend would wake up

You need sky sports for that. I mean without signing up to sky. I mean one of the cheap foreign ones without buying a new dish and box.
